🎉🥳Congratulations Chaos and Nyx🥳🎉 on finding your forever home. These two precious little babies went to their new home today. They will have two older sisters to show them the ropes in their new home. Honestly so happy they found a home but was hard to see them go. I will miss them during free play and morning eggs. Chaos was named that for a reason. Raising them has been nothing less then magical. Best wishes to Chaos and Nyx and their new family.

The final six babies. That makes a full 18 babies. I missed gendered one of them and had to make sure that I didn’t miss any others before I move them to the boys and girls baby cages. This litter is 5 girls and one boy. I thought it was 4 and 2 but was wrong. I named this litter after my favorite Disney characters. I’d like to finally introduce Mirabel, Ariel, Tiana, Belle, Elsa and the boy is Scuddle. So the final count is 4 boys and 14 girls. Did not expect such a difference between the number of girls vs boys. Boys tend to be the preferred gender due to them generally being mellow compared to girls. I personally love both. I will also say I did name a girl Chaos. Just saying. Minerva is the mamma of this litter. She is the calmest of the trio of mammas. So I’m hoping that hippyish trait transferred to these babies. Two weeks before they’re ready for adoption but the first 12 are now ready for homes.

I got a basket full of babies. All nine girls are in the basket snuggling. They just moved out of moms house and throwing house parties now. It’s pure chaos.

🎉🥳Happy 2nd Birthday Preston🥳🎉 This month Preston turns two years old. He’s been with us for almost a year and half. Now that he’s two years old, he’s officially now a sanctuary hamster. He’s going to stay here with us and just enjoy his retirement. He may not have gotten adopted, he did find his forever home. He’s been a joy and is very calm during free play. He usually just finds a corner and takes a nap. They only time I see him get excited is fruit and veg night here. Preston is happy and healthy so I hope to have him around for awhile. He’s going to be getting a new hide for his birthday and retirement party. Keep an eye out for Preston updates.

Litter 2 names. Four girls and two boys. Used all my favorites Greek/Roman god names. The last two names are other god names I like. Hercules and Ba’al are the boys. Mamma Demeter also did great work making these babies.

On June 15th the day after the three week anniversary of their rescue, Minerva gave birth to a gorgeous litter of six babies. I thought we were out of the woods with having more babies. Hera was pregnant but she reabsorbed them. Minerva and Artemis are they youngest girls and I was hoping she would do the same as Hera. It’s common for first time pregnancies in rats. And still can happen at any age. We were doing Greek/Roman gods as a naming theme. I fill like we’ve done enough of that. With this litter I wanna do Disney characters. One girl for sure will be Mirabel. Any other suggestions?

The babies eyes are open now and they’re exploring. Here they are trying scrambled eggs for the first time. Gotta get that protein to help their little brains grow. They’ve now had egg, yogurt and fresh fruit and veg. They also go through more rat food then I expected lol.

Introducing The Boys. Two in a half weeks ago we took in 12 rats. They lived 2 ten gallon fish tanks. Zues, Hades and Poseidon in one and 9 in another. They started with two rats, Hera and Zeus. Didn’t realize that they were not the same gender. Very common. Within weeks they had Hades, Poseidon, Venus and Demeter. Shortly after that Apollo, Minerva, Bacchus, Ares, Artemis and Hermes came into the world. We got them a couple of months after that. Zeus and Hera are very curious and brave. From what I was told they’re the originals and we’re handled. But once the babies came the previous caretakers became nervous about hurting the babies and didn’t handle them. The six littlest ones are coming around just not as fast as the older four. The new babies are and have been handled everyday since birth. We have work to do to get The Boys ready for forever homes. 💙🐀💙

Baby Update. The babies are two weeks old today. Their eyes will open any day now. Mamma Venus is such a good mommy. The babies are becoming very active and leave the hide. They realize they’re no longer in there house and they call for mom and she’s instantly gets them wrangled up. It’s hilarious when they all decided to act up and Venus is running around gathering up the little trouble makers. So excited to show them the world and teach them important rat things like how to fish for corn and peas. After having them double checked I’m pretty sure we have six healthy and plump baby girls. Thought we had one boy but I was wrong. Percy has ni***es, only females have ni***es with rats and mice. I’m keeping her name Percy cause she is Percy. There is also a Helen and Eros. Still deciding on names for the other three. They’re so cute I can’t even with them. 🤗💙🐀💙🤗

We have mini Ewoks(dwarf hamsters) available for adoption. They’re ready for their homes. This is Ewok, she loves her wheel. She uses it for running, sleeping and to sit there judging you. Lol. She is sweet just looks a bit grumpy. When I see her sitting like this make me laugh every time m. I’ll be sad to see her go but happier to see her with her new forever family.

Baby Update. One was born May 23rd and the other was born May 27th. It’s crazy how fast they grow. Everyday they look different and bigger. It’s amazing to watch these littles grow and be able to help them learn about the world around them. Both Mammas have gotten used to me messing with their babies. It’s hilarious to watch them instantly start cleaning the human off them once I hand the babies back. Once their eyes open next week the peace will be over lol.

Litter number 2. Four days old. Mamma Demeter is doing a great job like her sister Venus. Demeter is the sweetest and calmest one of the recent group rescued. We now have 13 of the cutest rat babies. They’re so little and pink right now. In two mouths we will have hand raised and handled daily rat babies that will be ready for love in their forever homes. I can’t wait to really meet them and see their little personalities form. They put the biggest smile on my face.

Our first litter is now a week old. Mamma Venus is doing a great both physical and as a mamma. She really only leaves her babies for food and water. They get darker and fuzzier every day. Their eyes will be opening this next week. That’s when the real fun will begin. I’m excited to raise some babies and find them forever homes.

We had babies. Our recent rescue Venus had her litter Monday, just 3 days after we got her. They’ve been here for a week now. They’re settling in but they weren’t handled much. They’re very sweet but shy. They were living a ten gallon tank both girls and boys. They had no enrichment or hides. They now live in single gender cages. Pictures of them will be posted soon. The other pregnant girl Demeter, just had her babies about 4 hours ago. First time I witnessed a rat giving birth. She’d birth one pick it up clean off the afterbirth while pushing out another one. Both Moms are doing great both physically and as a parent. They both are enjoying their diet of eggs, yogurt and chicken to make sure they’re getting plenty of protein. I named the rescues after the gods of Olympus. So their children will be named after the the children of said Gods. Hamster Time. Almost three months ago I had someone reach out and tell me that someone left a cage of hamsters by the dumpster at their apartment complex. They said there was 7 in the cage but they wanted to keep one of them. I got ready for six little hamsters. Hamsters should never be kept in groups. They will start violently fight. Which is what was happening. They keep one and took the cage home asap to get them into there own cages. They burrow and she didn’t see that there was actually 10 left after she took the one she wanted. I was shocked to find so many hamsters. I had to run out and buy 2 cages due to only having 8 hamster sized habits available.

Sadly they had been fighting and half of them were covered in scabs from the fighting. After cleaning them up. Not a easy task. They moved into their new houses with no roommates. After antibiotics and topical medication seven out of the ten survived. When I got them they were sickly, beat up, dehydrated and very malnourished. Now there active, healthy and ready for their forever homes. They are dwarf hamsters but do to a hard life they’ll always be smaller then normal dwarf hamsters. They are adorable and still young. Each one has their own little personality and favorite foods but all love their exercise wheel. They also had to figure it out when I am wandering around handing out snacks and treats to come out and get their little piece. I’ve been doing this for two years now and I can say helping them recover has been some of the most rewarding work I’ve done. These gorgeous little creatures were thrown away like trash in there now treasures of the rescue. We’re also more than willing to help you if you want to rehome one of them but don’t have a set up. We can provide size appropriate habitats for our rescues. Just look at these faces and tell me you don’t wanna look at that little face every day. Even with their past they are very friendly and with washing them and putting ointment on them I’ve never been bitten. I know they will add nothing but joy to any home they end up in.

Fall photo shoot. It was pure chaos trying to get these pictures. The hamsters were the only good one. One was able to get one of the mice to sit still long enough for a picture. Most the rats chose chaos for this. But here are the best pictures that I got. Don’t worry I will post some of the fails too. In order we have Loki, Preston, Thor the hamsters. Then we have Twig the boy mouse. And for the rescue rats that allowed pictures are Sushi and Odin. Forgot to post this toy and supply hule from earlier this month. We’d like to thank everyone for your support and love. We got chews and toy, water bottles and new cute wooden food bowls for additional chewing. We accept donations via our Venmo() and we now have a Cash App(). We also have a sponsorship program for the sanctuary animals. When you sponsor one of the sanctuary animals your support goes all to that animal in the form of new toys and special treats just for them. We currently have one sponsor for our new sanctuary hamster Preston. Due to age and health he isn’t available for adoption but has found someone to spoil him more then he already is. Bye Butters, you will be greatly missed. I found Butters in a pet food store. I went in for bedding for the rescue and saw they had small animals for pets and rats for snake food. When I saw the state of the cages and animals it was all I could do to not burn the place down. I got the two hamsters they had there, butters who sickly and covered in cysts and Winter who was healthy but underweight. Winter was adoptable and found his forever home. Butters was too sickly to ever be adopted and we didn’t think he’d make it a month let alone over a year. He was about one year and 4/5 months old. It’s really sad cause last night I was giving him treats and he seemed like the Butters I knew. This morning when I was doing my morning checks I found him in his house. I will miss this little guy so much. The sanctuary animals basically become my babies and I allow myself to get attached. I’m not sure if I’m gonna miss his face or when I’d clean his cage he’d rearrange things until I just put it back how he liked it. 💙🐹💙

Sad day here at the rescue, our sanctuary Syrian Hamster Butters passed away in his sleep last night. He has been here for over a year living it up. We found him in a horrible situation at a pet store. He was covered in cysts, under feed and had no enrichment in his cage. We didn’t expect him to live long but we got him healthy and clear of cysts. He grew and his little personality came out. He was so lovable that he had a sponsor that sent him gifts and treats. We were able to provide him with the best life while he was with us due to his sponsor. We like to thank Hollie Thomas for all she has done for Butters and the other animals that we provide care for. Butters was my special little guy and I will miss him. He taught me so much about hamsters and their care. I am going to miss him so much and his loss will leave a hole in my heart. Bye Butters I love you and hope you have a safe trip over the rainbow bridge. 💙🐹💙

Loki is still looking for his forever home. He’s the brother of Thor. He is pretty good during handling and free play. He’s a little nervous but after a couple of weeks of acclamation he will be a real joy to hang out with. He has been food motivated since day one. He will come right up for treats and is fun to be around. He’s not just a pretty face, Loki will look for mischief to get into. Sometimes I wonder if was supposed to be a rat lol. He is also a big boy with a big heart and has to use a 12” wheel. If interested please reach out and let’s get him the home he deserves.
