Our focus is helping neonatal orphan kittens, but if we can help something else we're going to try. If you have found a kitten or other animal in need of assistance, please message this page with as much detail as you can provide. Email: [email protected]

Interested in adopting? We typically try to start finding homes for kittens about 2-3 weeks before they are ready

to go home. When kittens are available the post will include a link to the adoption application. They're always raised with love in a home with plenty of other animals and people to get them socialized. Every kitten will be spayed or neutered, FIV/FELV tested, and vaccinated before they go home. Our goal is to find the best possible fit for each kitten. And because kittens do better with a buddy, they should go home to another cat, or in pairs! http://www.kittenlady.org/twokittens

Donations are always accepted! Money pays the vet bills and covers supplies (Venmo: TinyPawsRVA)
but if you prefer, there's an amazon wishlist too, or you can drop stuff off. https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/2F20HUNMPNTA9?ref_=wl_share
Always needed:
wet food (fancy feast kitten or friskies pate)
puppy pads, newspaper pellet kitty litter

And of course, please include your name and mailing address for the cutest thank you card you'll ever receive. Please understand that this is all done on a volunteer basis. The person running this page may not be able to immediately reply to comments or messages, but will do their best to respond to you as soon as they can.

🚩 PLEASE READ. THIS PAGE IS NO LONGER ACTIVE 🚩

Hi everyone!

This is Lauren, director and founder of Tiny Paws RVA.

A couple weeks ago, my personal Facebook was hacked. I spent days going through Facebook and trying to get back into my account. Unfortunately, there's no way to recover my account again.

That also means that I've lost access to managing this page (I'm currently posting from jena's phone. She is a mod and can post, but nothing else).

I HAVE CREATED A NEW PAGE:
Tiny Paws RVA, Rescue

Please please follow the new page. (it doesn't seem to let me tag it so I'll comment and tag the page).

It really really sucks to lose this page. I've spent over 2 years to build it up and to lose it is so upsetting. It also means I've lost our huge following, which dramatically impacts our ability to help kittens.

If you reach out to this page, I'll be unable to help.

Going forward, please go like and follow our new page. And if you feel inclined, I would really love if you shared the new page as well so we can start to build the page back up.

As always, I always appreciate all your support so much.

Thanks for all the support. Let's keep going. ❀️

Richmond, VA

Bonded pair Saturn (tabby female) & Pluto (black male) are still looking for their forever home!

These babies have been raised in a home with loving fosters humans, cats, and kids, and it shows.

From their foster parents:

"Saturn is no shabby tabby. This girl is the perfect blend of curious, playful, and cuddly. She loves to play with her brother Pluto and the adult cats at her foster home, but she also loves to cuddle up with her foster family and nap the day away. Saturn loves to be held and petted, and purrs loudly whenever she is near you! She has beautiful belly markings and eyes and her foster mama thinks she’s a very pretty kitty.

Pluto is the world’s most adorable couch potato. And, unlike the former planet of the same name, everyone loves this sweet boy!! Sweet Pluto will melt your heart with one look into his big beautiful eyes! He absolutely loves to curl up with his sister Saturn or his foster humans - if you want a calm cuddle buddy, look no further than Pluto. He’s living proof that black cats are good luck. "

And yes, Saturn & Pluto must go TOGETHER.

🐾 All tiny paws rva kittens have been treated for fleas and parasites, tested for FIV/FELV, received age appropriate vaccines, and are fixed before going home.

Kittens must be indoor only, keep their claws, and single kittens must be adopted to a home that already has another active cat OR in pairs. Priority is given to adopters looking to adopt 2 kittens.

BONDED brother sister pair Cupcake & Muffin are still looking for their forever home!

These babies have been hand raised in a home with loving fosters humans, cats, and a dog since day one, and it shows.

They are so ridiculously sweet. Their foster family is going on vacation so these 2 moved into Tiny Paws HQ, and I'm just in love.

They are sweet babies who purr when you look at them and like to talk to you. They're polite and silly, and warming up so fast!

Cupcake (tabby female) is the most adventurous and curious about every thing. She's always the first to come running when the kittens are called. She is very playful and will entertain herself with toys long after her brothers pass out.
Muffin (tabby male, white paws) is a bit shy at first but he loves to play with his sister and will wrestle and chase the other kittens around the house. When he's comfortable with you he'll let you lay him on his back and pet his tummy.

Also, I'm pretty sure these are some of the softest kittens ever (and I pet lots of kittens). I want you to think about the softest, most plush blanket you've ever touched. They are like that, but BETTER.

And yes, Cupcake and Muffin must go TOGETHER.

07/31/2023

If you've been keeping track, with the addition of Bijou & Poirot last week, we're now up to 11 kittens from this location! And I know that's not even the total kittens born there, either.

I had promised Vickey, the kitty caretaker, that we'd help her get the adults TNR'd, but after the loss of the Candy Litter its felt extra personal to help out here.

Last week, Rivka from had mentioned they had a few big TNR days coming up and offered my the chance to trap. I don't normally do the TNR side (it's as if I have my hands full with fostering and running tiny paws πŸ˜‚) but I decided to take her up on it.

So last Sunday night I collected Jena and Lauren C (two of my favorite humans on the planet, and fellow tiny paws fosters), and we headed out with traps, supplies, and a ton of snacks.

Lauren C has a ton of trapping experience, so she gave Jena and I a little lesson and then... We Waited.

We sat in my car in the heat and humidity, getting eaten alive by bugs, alternating between goofing off and sending mental pleas and threats to these cats to get their butts in the traps.

And eventually... Success!

Sunday evening we caught 2. Then I went back really early Tuesday morning by myself and managed to catch a third. These 2 ladies and a gentleman were fixed and returned to their colony with cute ear tips and an absence of reproductive organs.

This wasn't as many as we hoped to catch, but even fixing 3 cats will greatly reduce the number of kittens (and the amount of suffering!).

We'll continue to go back when we have appointments to fix all the adults, and we'll take as many kittens as we can into rescue. I'm grateful Vickey loves these cats enough to care for them and let us do what's best for them. And thank you to CKP for the appointments!

If you're interested in getting involved with TNR, let me know! I'm always happy to point people in the direction of resources!

Meet Bijou (first photo) & "Hercule Poirot" (second photo)

These 2 came from the same colony as the whimsical kittens and the candy kittens. β€οΈβ€πŸ©Ή

We grabbed them both on Monday and they've been settling in since.

Bijou is with me, and she's pretty much perfect. She's very loud and yelly, and she's 75% eyeballs and fluff. πŸ₯° She gets so excited to eat her tail vibrates.

Poirot ("pwah-row") is a chill guy who instantly stretched out his little leggies and settled into our other Lauren's (Lauren C) arms when she took him. πŸˆβ€β¬›

We're hoping to see Poirot up for adoption a little sooner but it all depends when he can get vetted.

More on the colony later...
For now, welcome to the good life, babies! We're glad you're here! πŸ’•

It's been a very busy week and it's only Tuesday. πŸ˜…

There's a bunch of stuff happening but I can't wait to share with you but I'm too tired from doing all this stuff to actually share.

So for now, you get an adorable adoption post featuring Risotto and her new mom, and Gnocchi and Rigatoni and their new family. Risotto has a big brother named pirate! Isn't that the cutest!? And the boys will stay together, which we always love!

Have the best lives, babies! You deserve it! πŸ’•

Sweet risotto is feeling a little sassy today.

Why?

Because she's the last kitten left in the pasta litter looking for a home and, quite frankly, it's a little unfair!

Risotto is the perfect kitten, and may just be my soul sister with how much she likes to nap. πŸ˜‚

She's confident, and wasn't afraid to keep her siblings in line. She takes her time warming up to people, but rewards your patience with so many snuggles and plenty of companionship.

She's great with other cats and has no issue setting her boundaries, which we love to see.

🐾 All Tiny Paws RVA kittens are treated for fleas and parasites, tested for FIV/FELV, receive age appropriate vaccines, and fixed.

Kittens must be indoors only, keep their claws, and go to a home with another active kitty.

🐱If you think Riso is the perfect fit for your family, please apply!

All your kind words on our last post have been very sweet and comforting.

I've done this a long time, so kitten loss isn't new but it never gets easier.

What helps is seeing the kittens that are doing so great!

Little stardust here is almost always very serious looking. And Imp is a goofball who is starting to warm up more and more every day. πŸ©΅πŸ’™

This isn't the type of post I ever want to make, but unfortunately this is the horrible part of rescue.

I've been a little quiet on here recently because our little team at Tiny Paws RVA has gone through some really rough losses this month so far. πŸ’”

I'm heartbroken to share that the entire candy litter passed away.

These kittens were born into horrible circumstances and had horrible odds. They were born early to a mom that left them without even cleaning them off. There were most likely issues under the surface we couldn't see as well.

Even knowing that, I tried everything in my power to save them. Unfortunately, they had too much working against them and everyone passed away. It's a tiny comfort to know they were warm, safe, and loved as they passed.

I've never lost an entire litter before. It's been incredibly difficult this past week as I have tried my hardest to keep them alive, only to see them pass. promise you I did everything I possibly could.

Additionally, we lost Mars, the little girl we introduced you to only last week. She was incredibly small and had been found on all her own before joining the other 2 kittens, so we don't know much about her history. We tried everything we could to get her healthy but her tiny body couldn't make it. Please send some extra love to her foster family as well.

This isn't the fun part of rescue. It's the part that breaks my heart. I know it's a risk but I go into every situation hoping I can help these babies make it.

This is why spay and neuter is so important. These kittens didn't deserve their fate. If we had prevented them even being born they wouldn't have had to live this life.

As always, if you need resources on spay or neuter, please reach out. Even if I cannot directly help, I'm happy to provide resources and point you in the right direction.

If you'd like to make a donation to help us save more kittens, it's always appreciated.

This loss hurts a little extra, but we'll keep on going. The babies need us. And honestly...I think I need them a little, too. πŸ©΅πŸ’™

Meet our newest kittens, the planet litter!

Saturn (tabby girl), Mars (black and white girl), and lil Pluto (black boy and yes Pluto is still a planet in my HEART) came to us via a horrible situation in NC.

The shelter there isn't providing the care and support the animals need so some of them are lucky enough to make it up here. Our goal is always first and foremost to help animals in Virginia, but we couldn't say no to these 3.

They're all a bit on the small side but they're gaining well and we're working to find a cause of their yucky tummy issues.

We can't wait to see them grow and thrive!

Welcome to the good life, babies! We're glad you're here. πŸ’•

Our BONDED PAIR, Dandelion & Shrimp, are looking for their forever home together!

😺 Dandelion and Shrimp came to us separately as lonely single kittens but they were clearly meant to be best friends.

These guys sleep together, groom each other, and play hard together.

They're both snuggly babies who love cuddling up on the couch next to you. They also play hard, including wrestling and running laps around the house. Dandelion leans towards snuggly and Shrimp leans towards playful, making them a great pair.

They've been raised with other cats and dogs, and do great!

😺 Yes, they must be adopted together. Bonded pairs are just that: bonded. πŸ’•

🐾 All Tiny Paws RVA kittens have been treated for fleas and parasites, tested for FIV/FELV, received age appropriate vaccinations, and are fixed prior to going home.

All kittens must be indoors only, keep their claws, and single kittens must go to a home with another active cat OR in pairs.

Meet Cricket! πŸ¦—

The other week I was at home when I got a text from our foster, Jena.

It's both not the text I expected from her, yet always kind of expect to get, considering what I do. πŸ˜‚

She and her husband David were at home when David heard a kitten crying outside. 2 hours later they had caught this little guy. He was pretty scared at first but he turned fast once he realized how great Jena and David are (or really, once he realized they have snacks).

He'll be neutered at the end of the month and looking for a home. We also have a bunch of other kittens ready to go so if you're looking for a kitten, reach out!

Welcome to the good life, Cricket! 🧑

Friday afternoon, I was contacted by the woman who I rescued Pixie & Co from.

It turns out she had found five freshly birthed kittens scattered across her property. My guess is that, most likely, a young, inexperienced cat had given birth and panicked, leaving them on their own.

Mom never showed back up so I agreed to take them. I'll be honest, I was a little nervous to take these guys. I've had critical kittens, and I've had newborns, but I've never had FIVE critical newborn kittens at once.

Jena, one of our fosters, collected the kittens and we met at her house.

The kittens were cold, quiet, and covered in fly strike. It was pretty horrible, to be honest. And because that obviously wasn't enough, these guys were premature. They were undersized, even for newborns, and they had no fur on their faces or paws, giving them kind of a "gummy bear" look.

I made a plan and we jumped in. I've dealt with fly strike before I hate it As luck would have it, Jena used to work at a fruit fly lab and handled this totally fine. She got to work combing every possible fly egg off each kitten while I worked to get them warm, cleaned up, and given meds and colostrum. Amazingly, everyone latched and drank a little.

Finally, after over 2.5 hours and close to midnight, I headed home.

I've now spent the last 5 days or so devoting the majority of my time to keeping these tiny lives alive. Every two to 2.5 hours, I stopped whatever I'm doing to make formula, assess and clean the kittens, then feed them. I have a chart where I write down exactly how much they eat, and I weigh them every 3 feedings.

Unfortunately, one kitten has passed away so far. She was the weakest one, and I don't think her body could handle it.

Everyone does have names, including our little girl who didn't make it.

Welcome our Candy Litter: Haribo (m), Taffy (f), Skittles (m), Jellybean (f), and Starburst (passed).

I'll continue doing everything I can for these little guys, and all the other little babies in my care. I'm hoping that everyone will continue to get big and strong, and that I can sleep more than 2.5 hours at a time soon.

We're glad you're here, babies. Keep on fighting. πŸ’•

They're a little on the small side but they're active and eating well. I also realized I picked names but never shared them.

So in order of photos, we have Pixie (who you already knew), Dust Bunny, Imp, & Stardust!

Imp is the only boy. πŸ©΅πŸ’™ I can't deal with how cute everyone is. 😍

We have the CUTEST adoption story to share with y'all today! 😍

All our adopters are great, but this one might take the cake for sweetness.

Last year, a wonderful family adopted Pumpernickel from our Bagel litter. We got lovely updates from them here and there.

Well a couple weeks ago, Lindsay, Oliver/Pumpernickel's mom sent us this email (slide 2) with the cutest story from her daughter. She had painted a picture of herself with an orange cat. Only thing is... They didn't have an orange cat. When asked, she confidently told her mom it was their next cat.

So basically... Lindsay was emailing to ask if maybe we had an orange kitten looking for a home.

It turns out that an orange kitten was in the stars because the day she asked we had THREE orange babies that would be ready in exactly two weeks.

We had her fill out our repeat adopter app, they met the kittens and found their perfect match, and yesterday ZITI went home to a houseful of kids, 2 kitty cat siblings, and a whole lotta love.

We love repeat adopters, and we love that this match was clearly meant to be!

Now maybe I need to go draw a photo of me with a plane ticket to Italy... πŸ˜‚

Happy adoption day ziti! You have the best family waiting for you!

My sweet little Pixie turned 4 weeks this past Saturday.

It's a big milestone for kittens because it usually comes with a bigger space, starting to use the litterbox, etc. It's also when I feel like single kittens become a little lonely (I could be projecting but whatever).

It turns out the universe didn't want Pixie to be alone anymore because the woman who we got Pixie from had found her siblings! Yes, her actual biological siblings (same place, color, size, etc etc etc).

Normally we do encourage people to keep kittens with their moms until 8 weeks (and that is the earliest they can be adopted in the state of Virginia) but in this case mom was kinda...not momming, shall we say, and the kittens were looking a little crusty, eyes were gross, and they were starting to wander towards some busy roads.

With all that in mind, we ended up pulling them out and they joined the crew.

It's funny to see the difference between pixie (hand raised from one day old) and the new kittens. They were definitely less sure of me at first, but they've already learned I am food lady and I have the warm lap.

Pixie is thrilled to have kittens to be with. After a couple days (and deflea-ing, deworming, and bathing) we introduced them and within an hour they were playing and snuggling. It's the cutest thing to see!

We can't wait for you to get to know this little family better! πŸ’—

Names and more coming soon. 😘

Richmond, VA

Cleopatra, our sweet senior lady, is looking for a home.

I know this isn't what you normally see from us. But Cleopatra has a story that didn't just tug on my heart, but broke it into pieces.

Cleopatra was loved and spoiled by a gentleman who has since passed away. Now somewhere between the ages of 10 & 13, she was all alone, living outside, scared, and missing her person. On top of that, she's deaf.

Any one of those things is sad, but all together we couldn't say no.

But after some time at Tiny Paws HQ, she's ready to find her forever home.

Cleo loves to spend her days napping on comfy beds and looking out sunny windows. She loves being brushed, and will come over to you when she sees the brush!

She's a chatty thing, and will talk to you all day. She'll also scold you when meals are late, as I learned. Because she can't hear herself, she can be a little loud, but it's usually very entertaining.

Cleo is spayed, FIV/FELV negative, up to date on vaccines, and has been thoroughly examined by our amazing vet, including senior bloodwork. From the bloodwork we did learn that she is in early stages of chronic kidney disease. This is something that will require a prescription food, but we're hopeful that by sticking to the diet set up, it will be manageable, giving whoever adopts this queen many happy years together.

I know senior cats aren't always what people run to adopt, but this sweet lady deserves the best life has to offer to live out her golden years.

Are you the one she can spend her life with? Do you know someone who might be a good fit?

Please share, or apply at TinyPawsRVA.org/adopt

This week I'm filling in as an assistant teacher at an improv camp for elementary kids. It's fun, but I'm exhausted. πŸ˜… I'm pretty sure I look like Theo here, just less fluffy.

Theo continues to amaze just about everyone everyone on a daily basis. Every time people come over and see him they're like "is that seriously him!?" And I can proudly say it is. He broke TWO pounds this month, and he's finally starting to get more fur than the scraggly little layer he had on his body before. His belly fur is almost curly. πŸ˜‚

We're still waiting for him to get big enough for more tests, and eventually his vaccines and neuter. But rest assured, he's so loved and well cared for here. I constantly tell him how proud I am. I knew he could do it all along. πŸ’œ

🐟TROUT is still looking for her home. 🐟

This sweet little girl and her golden eyes would be the perfect fit for a family looking for a social kitty.

She asks her foster mom to pick her up on the regular for cuddles, keeps her company in the bathroom playing in the water, and loves to play with the other kitties in the house. She's a wild thing who will leap into the air to catch a toy and then wants to spend the rest of the day snoozing in bed next to you.

Trout has been treated for fleas and parasites, received age appropriate vaccines, tested negative for FIV/FELV, and is spayed. She must be indoors only, keep her claws, and go home with another kitty.

Is Trout the kitty you've been looking for? Apply at TinyPawsRVA.org/Adopt or share to help her find her forever family! ❀️
