Surgeon looked over Renegade’s wounds and recommends she stay there thru the weekend. She’s so bruised and inflamed they are worried about internal tissue damage. He anticipates she’ll be released Monday and I’ll be taking her there every other day for wound care/bandage changes at that point. Her bill is already at $3000, and will likely be $4000 by Monday. The wound care/bandage changes will be $100-$150 every other day.

We’ve raised $1810 so far. Thank you so much for helping!! If you prefer to donate to the vet directly she’s at Overland Park Veterinary Emergency & Speciality 913-361-3800 Renegade - Autumn Acres Animal Rescue.

Thank you! ❤️🙏 the good news is she should be just fine once she heals up. No infection yet. The smaller wounds have already started healing.

I know some might want to see the wounds, others would prefer not too. So I’m going to post the photos in here, but you’ll have to scroll thru to see them. I didn’t get good photos of both legs, I wasn’t going to make her move just for a photo.

I went and visited with Renegade. Her wounds aren’t pretty, but I was expecting worse. This was our first injury fight in 9+ years. I believe the last one was Pixie.

Considering how many dogs we have come and go, playgroups, and dogs housed together I don’t think that’s a bad record.

I think it might have been just one dog going after Renegade. Probably Sienna. Maybe Sienna decided she wanted to be in charge now. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Renegade’s back legs have the most of the damage then there is one on her side and one on the other side.

She was able to stand up for me and no signs of infection so far. The surgeon will be examining her tomorrow AM, there is a large puncture on her back leg that draining and that’s the one that they are most concerned about.

She has a pain patch on, ivs, antibiotics, etc. she’s most concerned about the strangers around, and I know she’ll rest much easier once I can get her home.

We will see what the surgeon recommends. We’ve raised $1635 so far! ❤️❤️🎉🎉 her bill will probably be $2500+.

How about some good news? Saturn let me pet him down his chest today!! Usually I can get a few pets on his nose and maybe the side of his head, but this was the first time he stood and let me really pet him. What a breakthrough!! ❤️

Renegade update: $30 raised, her expected bill is going to be over $2500. Vet prices are just insane and boy am I a frustrated person tonight. I called Mission Med Vet to let them know that I had a dog that was attacked by 2 dogs and has several puncture wounds. They say ok, we'll be ready. I get there, they load her onto the stretcher and take her to the back. Then comes the waiting game. It's absolutely crazy. 5:30 on NYE and the place is packed. The vet comes to give me the update/estimate/etc and guess what? They don't have any way to do sedations/surgeries at this location tonight.

Full stop. You'd think they'd have told me that on the phone? Or before she was painfully manhandled onto that stretcher? No, they want to have dogs come in for triage and stabilization so they don't tell you ahead of time. What the hell kind of thing is that? I need to transfer her to their Overland Park location, but first they want to do fluids and 'stabilize her' for the additional 20 minute drive...that wouldn't have been needed had they told me on the phone that I needed to go there first!

The vet said it will take an hour for the fluids and antibiotics and then I can take her to overland park. They'd be right back with the estimate/etc.

They are swamped...so I'm patient. They have given her pain meds, I'm waiting. 2.5 hours later I'm still waiting and I'm not patient anymore. She's not even getting treatment...she's just stuck in limbo. Is she still bleeding? Have they done any kind of treatment for her?

No. Just the fluids...and oops they didn't do the antibiotics yet so now I need to wait another 30 minutes.

I wait another hour. Still no Renegade. They say oh we are getting her ready to go now, the sister clinic knows you are coming and you'll be able to just drop her off. They'll have the stretcher waiting and help get her inside.

Nope. I get to Overland Park and they have no clue I'm coming. No idea. They want me to go sit in a room for 3-4 more hours to get an estimate/etc. Macallan is on seizure meds and I need to be sure he gets those pills! Crystal was on backup in case I couldn't make it, but I was so worried that he might not take the pill for her.

I explained I HAD to be home for the pills. I had already waited and was told that the system was shared and the info would be there...why do I have to wait for another estimate? Finally I get them to print off the estimate. Somehow the price went up. Even though I paid the $300 for the treatment that was done at the other clinic and was supposed to be included in the estimate mission quoted me.

Ugh. Just Frustrated. I didn't want x-rays done until she was sedated. Those legs are super painful, I don't want them pulled/pushed around while she's awake when she's going to be sedated for the would cleaning anyway. They did the x-rays without even talking to me at the next clinic. Not a word from them and they did the x-rays...while she was awake.

They still haven't started treatment on her. I get it, more critical cases come in. She's being hospitalized overnight, and they'll call with any updates.

Renegade was our feral pup from KCPP. Most ferals will shut down, but Renegade was one of those willing to bite to scare you away. It took time, but we did become good friends. That little girl loves me and Donna and we both love her too. She needs to be ok.

Because of course this year has to go out with a bang. Apparently at some point today Quinn and Sienna attacked Renegade. Crystal found her laying inside the building in a pile of straw and was able to pet her. She knew something was wrong. Renegade, Sienna, and Quinn have been friends for years. I have no idea what triggered it, but Renegade definitely took the brunt of the damage. Of course on a holiday and our vets we use were closed already. So off to Mission Med Vet I went. Currently waiting for an estimate and how much damage did they do. She’s pretty beat up and bloody 😞 They seem to have targeted her back legs mostly.

Snowball has started playing! She’s completely in love with Macallan. Milo and Quinn bark at Snowball from their play yards and Macallan will get between her and them to bark back at them. She’s totally in love with him now. 😍 He’s just doing it for fun, but apparently he’s her knight in shining armor lol.

I don’t block people from the page easily, but I have no patience for people not being nice. Warning me that the ham could be dangerous, I understand and appreciate. But spamming non stop about the ham? Unnecessary and just mean. I was concerned about the ham and gave them a thin 1/2 slice, unless the dog was known to have a sensitive stomach and then they only got a bite. Milo eats very well, i know has a tough stomach and that’s why he got larger slice.

I didn’t pick the ham, a supporter had it sent because she knew I wasn’t feeling very Christmasy with the trying few months I’ve had. I didn’t want to hurt her feelings either so I gave out a bit of the ham. Sometimes you just can’t win, but hey the dogs were THRILLED.

Sadie being so sweet while waiting for her ham. This girl is so lovable!

Milo getting his Christmas ham 🎄 Milo is part of our sanctuary program. He is not nice to strangers, but once you are a friend you are a friend for life. He totally couldn’t wait to inhale that ham lol
