Maddox Fun Fact Of The Day!

Once you put in your homework with Maddox (which will be taught to his adopter) he is a really laid back guy who is happy to hand out with you in those lazy days!
💛
On days when you’re feeling more active he enjoys going for walks in a heel and a free walk (where he can sniff but doesn’t pull!) and he enjoys practicing his training, going in field trips and learning new tricks. But one of the coolest things about him is he really doesn’t mind a calm relaxing day at home!

Maddox just had a vet appointment to get a little ear infection taken care of! He did amazing and was happy to get some love and attention from the vet staff! His ear will be all cleared up anyday- so don’t worry, he’s still ready for his forever home!

Since Maddox comes fully trained you won’t have to worry about counter surfing when you adopt him! He may sniff, but he won’t steal your peanut butter crackers!

(You could also stop the begging by using the “out” command but I was testing to see what he would do so I let him get close!)

Maddox fact of the Day-
He enjoys outside with the dogs but he doesn’t love being around them inside. I think he gets to stressed knowing that his kennel and food bowl are inside.
We plan to do more inside doggie socialization.
While I think being the only pet in the home will be easiest and best for him in the long run. Who knows owns how long he will be living here so we are working on getting him more comfortable inside.
Today we’ve been playing with some toys and he is doing pretty good!
(The dogs live inside but 99% of our playtime is outside)

Mabel- Trained with me in 2021 but unfortunately found herself needing a new home in January of 2023. So I took her in as the first “official” RKDT Foster! She found her furever home and was adopted in February 2023! (Foster for 13 Days)

Maddox- Foster from Ring Dog Rescue. He came in with extreme resource aggression and dog aggression. He made a complete 180 since being with me. His resource aggression is practically gone (we will continue to work on it) and his dog aggression is a thing of the past! He loves playing with all the dogs in the yard and would wrestle for hours if I let him. He also loves cuddles and loving from anyone who will give him attention. He came to me on October 3rd 2023 and by November 24th I decided to keep him. Still waiting to sign the paperwork but I considered him mine on the 24th (Foster for 52 Days)

Moon Pie- This sweet girl was in need of a foster or adopter in July of 2023. She came to the RKDT foster program and complained her three week Board & Train. She lived with us for five more weeks and went to her furever home September of 2023! (Foster for 54 days)

Gaia- FOSTER FAIL….Soul Dog Found! I began fostering Gaia in Rhode Island in August of 2020 with no intention of keeping her. By September 2020 I had fallen madly in love and officially adopted her after almost exactly a month of fostering. Best decision ever! (Foster for 32 days)

Maddox Update!

He really is the goodest boy!
He does AMAZING in the car
He does AMAZING for nail trims
He does AMAZING for bathes
He does AMAZING for walks in heel & free walks
He does AMAZING meeting people in public
He does AMAZING not reacting to other dogs in public
He does AMAZING with men, woman and children (haven’t tested with young kids yet but he met a kid around 8 years old and flopped down for belly rubs)

He has done phenomenal in the play social with all the dogs and has even shown significant improvement with his food agression to other dogs. While that is managed for safety by just feeding all the dogs in the kennel- he takes treats well around other dogs. I do advocate for everyone though so we don’t steal eachothers treats!

If I didn’t have three dogs already, I would 100% keep him. But with my workload at the moment I don’t think I can fairly keep three dogs AND foster AND have 10+ other dogs here for work. I have one client who is interested (or at least I’m telling myself she is interested) and if she gets him I’ll still get to see him once a week for play days!

So while my top choice would be for my client to get him- nothing is stopping y’all from filling out an apply with jusssssst incase my client doesn’t get him you can be next in line! And if you don’t get Maddox you’d already have an application in for my next Foster or for one of the many pups at Ring Dog Rescue who are looking for a home!

So Jorja (right) is an RKDT graduate and her Mom has mentioned before that she may be interested in getting a second pup…. So is it wrong of me to send her all of these cute pictures of Maddox and Jorja together 😍😍😍

All I’m saying is it would be a great fit because Jorja’s mom is amazing and does all the training with Jorja….and most importantly she brings Jorja for Boarding so I’d get to see Maddox all the time!!
