💙🌍 World Diabetes Day: Meet Mr. Lilly, Our Feline Diabetes Spokespurr-son 🌍💙

Today we’re shining a light on something many people don’t realize: cats can have diabetes too—and just like humans, they can live long, happy, lives with proper management.

This handsome gentleman was diagnosed with diabetes, which simply means his body has trouble regulating blood sugar. In cats, this usually happens when their pancreas isn’t producing enough insulin or their cells aren’t responding to it properly.

The good news? Many diabetic cats, like the illustrious Mr. Lilly, do incredibly well with treatment. His regimen is beautifully simple: one small pill once a day to keep his blood sugar balanced. No needles, no complicated routines—just a quick dose and he’s back to his important tasks, like supervising staff and perfecting his loaf formation.

Feline diabetes isn’t a reason to shy away from adopting an amazing companion. It’s manageable, it’s common, and with a stable routine and a little monitoring, cats like Mr. Lilly thrive. Honestly, the biggest challenge he faces is resisting the urge to steal our lunches.

On World Diabetes Day, we celebrate Mr. Lilly and all the animals living with diabetes. If you’d like to meet this sweet, whiskered ambassador, come by the shelter—he’d love to charm you, purr at you, and maybe convince you he needs “just a few” treats.

We’re still catching our breath (and doing a few happy dances) after a few incredible weeks at the shelter — 25 dogs and 11 cats found their forever homes! ❤️

From shy pups who finally wagged their way into a family’s heart, to cool cats who strutted straight into adoption bliss — the shelter’s been buzzing with love, wagging tails, and purrs of pure joy.

Each adoption means an open kennel, a saved life, and another chance for someone new to find their person. And trust us, there are plenty of whiskered faces still waiting to meet you!

Come visit us this week to keep the celebration going — Dusky, our meowketing director, says there’s always room for one more “happily ever after.” 🐶🐱✨

Good evening! We have another dog sponsored!!!
If you all remember Teò’s adopter, who recently sponsored one of our dogs in honor of Teò, he has reached out and sponsored ANOTHER DOG!!! This is Bug(white and brown pitbull) and she is sponsored in honor of Sophie(the large white dog) Jason told us that Sophie was a wild child at heart and taught him the meaning of patience(LOL) We believe that Bug fits that personality description to a T!!! She is a wild child at heart, but so sweet and loving. She will definitely teach her owner patience, she has a ton of energy, true pittie energy.
If you’re interested in Bug please come in and talk to us or you can call us! Our hours are Tuesday-Friday 12-5 and Saturdays 12-4.
A huge thank you to Jason for all that he has done for us. It’s the people like him that keep our shelter a float and worth all of the chaos.

Lorena was adopted from our shelter in 2018 and was loved for many years by her adopted family. She has recently crossed the rainbow bridge to be with several other H.E.L.P. alums who were loved in their final days.

In her memory, her family has donated in-kind items along with dog food and other supplies needed to keep our shelter running. It truly is our mission to match homeless pets with the right family, so they can enjoy as many memories as Reyna and her family did together.

We're keeping her family in our thoughts as well as all the other adopters who have lost the animals that made their lives complete.

🎃💀 THE FINAL FRIGHT: THE BIGGEST FEAR OF ALL 💀🎃

As the curtain falls on our Spooky Scary Skelebully series, we’ve met some truly terrifying pups — from blanket mummies to muscle monsters, zoomie ghosts to fashion-forward phantoms.

But beneath the silly scares and spooky stories lies the real fear that haunts every one of our Skelebullies…
💔 The fear of never getting adopted. 💔

Walter, Chanel, Czarina, Bug, Irina, Sammich, Flora, and Tyson have all been waiting — some for months, some for years — for someone to see past the myths and meet the sweet, goofy, loyal hearts that beat beneath those “scary” faces.

So this Halloween, skip the ghosts and goblins — come meet our real-life heroes. Stop by HELP the Animals, take a tour of our “haunted halls,” and meet all the Skelebullies (and their spooky shelter friends!) who are dying to love you forever.

Because the only thing truly frightening around here… is how much love you’ll find once you walk through our doors.

🎃 Visit us. Adopt. Share their stories. And help these Skelebullies turn their biggest fear into their happiest ending. 🎃
