Besides helping to keep the skin hydrated, water aids digestion, making it easier for dogs to process their food and absorb nutrients. 🦮🐾🐶Ensuring your dog’s meals have adequate moisture helps maintain their overall well-being, supporting their largest organ, the skin, and promoting a shiny, healthy coat. Consistent hydration is essential for keeping your dog healthy and happy. 💦💧💦And don’t be surprised if your dog drinks less in between meals once you’ve started incorporating water into their bowl! This is normal and nothing to worry about!
Come celebrate with us!!

It’s OK for your dog to eat grass, but make sure the grass has NOT been treated with chemicals like fertilizers, pesticides, etc. Never let them eat grass on municipal fields as these places have usually been treated and never within 50 feet of a roadway (think pollution from exhaust.)
Grass is loaded with fiber, vitamins and minerals and can be something that your dog craves instinctually. I let my dog, Lola, eat grass whenever she wants as long as we are in a location that meets the above parameters.
*If your dog eats grass in excessive amounts, it may be indicative of an underlying issue that may include dietary deficiencies, gastrointestinal issues or parasites
Another quick tip to keep your pets as healthy as possible!
It’s time to UP your cat’s food bowl! 🐈🐾🐕🦺 What toppers are your cat’s favs?
Many chemical tick repellents contain pesticides that pose a neurotoxin risk to our pups. A neurotoxin is a substance that destroys, damages, or impairs nerve tissue. 🧠 These toxins can interfere with the normal functioning of neurons, disrupt neurotransmission, potentially lead to various neurological problems or disorders and be harmful to the nervous system. 🚫👎Natural tick repellents typically use ingredients derived from plants or essential oils, which are diluted and are often safer for both pets (and their humans) compared to chemical alternatives.🍃🌲This reduces the risk of exposure to these potentially harmful synthetic chemicals and pesticides. 🤗Opting for natural alternatives not only keeps our pets safe but also promotes our dogs’ overall well-being and comfort while effectively repelling ticks. 🐶(This is for dogs only!)🐕🦺🐾#NaturalTickRepellents #hikingwithdogs #dogwellness #naturaldogcare
Are hairballs causing your feline friend discomfort? Add psyllium husk and digestive enzymes to their food, and you can say goodbye to hairball woes. It’s literally the perfect duo for hairball relief.🐈🐾🐱Psyllium husk, a gentle fiber derived from the Plantago ovata plant, aids digestion by promoting healthy bowel movements and preventing hairball formation. A cat’s digestive tract is designed to handle small amounts of fur. But when it gets overloaded due to excessive self-grooming or because of the length of its fur, it may not be able to digest it, which can cause constipation and discomfort. Cats naturally lack the enzymes needed to fully digest hair, which is why hairballs can form. Digestive enzymes supplement this deficiency by aiding in the breakdown of proteins and other nutrients, including the hair accumulated in the stomach. By promoting more efficient digestion, these enzymes can help prevent hairball formation or facilitate the passage of hair through the digestive tract, reducing the likelihood of hairball-related issues in cats.😻✨🐾By being proactive and incorporating psyllium husk and digestive enzymes into your cat’s routine, you’re not just addressing hairball issues—you’re supporting their digestive system for long-term wellness. Of course, don’t forget to brush to solve for the cause of the problem at it’s source!#CatHealth #HairballRelief
Sardines are a great source of omega-3 fatty acids, particularly EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid). These fatty acids have anti-inflammatory properties and are essential for maintaining healthy skin, coat, and joints in dogs and cats.🐟🐟🐟Sardines are also a good source of protein, which is crucial for muscle development and overall health in pets.💪💪💪Sardines contain various vitamins and minerals such as vitamin D, vitamin B12, selenium, and calcium, which contribute to the overall health and well-being.🐈🐾🐕Be sure to feed within 24 hours of opening. EPA and DHA are extremely volatile oils that are easily subject to rancidity. Exposure to air, UV light and/or heat begins the oxidation process, introducing pro-inflammatory mediators. Be sure to feed within 24 hours of exposure.🦴👇🦴Canned sardine bones are generally softer and more digestible. If you’re concerned about the safety of the bones, you can crush or mince them before feeding them to your pet.🚨⚠️🚨CAUTION: If your pet is undergoing surgery in the next two weeks, discuss the use of omega-3s with your veterinarian. Marine-based oil, specifically, may interfere with blood clotting
Veterinary chiropractic is a field of animal health care that focuses on the health of the neuro-musculoskeletal system. The premise of chiropractic is simplified as optimizing the body to be able to heal itself. Nerves are responsible for controlling everything that happens in your pet, so anything adversely affecting the nervous system will have detrimental effects on their entire body. 🐕🐾🐈The brain (protected by the skull) and the spinal cord (protected by the spine) are the command centers of the nervous system. The spine is a complex framework of bones (vertebra), ligaments, muscles and nerves. If the movement and biomechanics of the vertebra are compromised, the nerves branching off the spinal cord are negatively affected; thus affecting the muscles and organs they are responsible for. As this occurs, your pet can lose normal mobility, resulting in stiffness, tension, pain and even organ dysfunction. 🐶🦴🐱The nervous system is also responsible for coordinating the body’s ability to heal itself. Trauma, overuse, and underuse may cause the vertebra of the spine to become restricted or fixed, with surrounding muscles and ligaments becoming inflamed. When this happens, these impaired structures lose their ability to heal. Symptoms of spinal fixation are variable, but some of the most apparent signs include pain, spasm, sensitivity to touch, and lameness. Veterinary chiropractic offers non-surgical, drug-free options to restore function and mobility to compromised vertebra which then restores optimal neurologic transmissions. This allows the body to perform at its optimum potential. ✨🐾✨Veterinary chiropractic is not meant to replace traditional veterinary care; nor is it an alternative treatment modality. It is best considered as a modern, comprehensive and integrative therapy to be used in conjunction with traditional care. ..#petwellness #holisticdog #petcare #catcare #dogcare #doghealthtips #cathealth #petnutrition
Choosing the right food bowl for your cat might seem like a simple task, but did you know that it can greatly impact your cat’s mealtime experience?🐱🐾🐈When a cat eats from a narrow food bowl, there’s a high chance that their whiskers will come into contact with the sides of the bowl. This may seem trivial, but for a cat, it can be quite uncomfortable. 😣When whiskers constantly brush against the sides of a food bowl, it can lead to a phenomenon known as whisker fatigue. Whisker fatigue occurs when a cat’s whiskers become overstimulated, causing discomfort and stress. This discomfort can manifest in various ways, such as reluctance to eat, messy eating habits, or even aggression during mealtime.🐈⬛🫶😻By choosing a wide, shallow bowl you can ensure that your cat enjoys their meals comfortably and stress-free.What type of bowl do your cat use?#catwellness #cathealth
Parsley is more than just a garnish! It’s not only nutrient-dense but it’s also known as a carminative herb which can help support digestive health and prevent excess gas.🌱🐾🌱It’s high in vitamins C and K and contains minerals like potassium, magnesium and iron. Rich in chlorophyll, it can also help detoxify the body and support liver function. Parsley also contains flavonoids and carotenoids that act as antioxidants, helping neutralize harmful free radicals and reduce inflammation.🤗✨🌱*If you have a dog that has frequent gas, adding parsley will help relieve the symptoms, but you should still look at the root cause of the gas. Is your dog eating too fast? Does it need a different diet? Is it time to add probiotics to its regimen? These are a few things excess gas could indicate. Questions? Ask below!..
Cats bodies are designed to eat high protein, high moisture foods in small amounts! (Think mice, voles & birds.)🐁🐦⬛🐈Studies show that feral cats consume 52% protein, 46% fat and only 2% from carbohydrates—that includes water content of almost 67%! So many domestic cats are getting much less moisture than this—which is one reason so many cats have kidney issues!🐾🐱🐾We also know that cats left to their own devices will eat several small meals throughout the day. So feeding only once or twice is not ideal. And leaving food “out” for free feeding exposes fats in the food to oxidation which results in rancidity. 🤢Set your cat up for success by feeding high protein*, high moisture food in small meals throughout the day. 3-5 times is best and most people can squeeze that into a 6-7hour period when home. (*cats with known kidney issues should discuss protein options with their veterinarians.)🩺🐈⬛Thanks for reading this far & ✨follow✨ for more!
