"This is my son.
At about a year old I overdosed with him in my bed. Well, it was just a mattress on my living room floor.
At 2 he had to come visit me in jail. He beat against the glass screaming and crying for his mommy. He started biting his nails after that.
At 3 he witnessed me get hit in the head with a brick, and my head split open. He rode with me in the ambulance. It scared him really bad.
At 4 he was in a car wreck with me, one of my many DUIS.
At 5 my mother had to raise him most of the time. I barely even came home.
At 6 I lost full custody, and I went to prison.
He is 12 today. He lives with me. He attends a private Christian school. He is on the honor roll. He gets prayed with every night and his mommy is there to wake him up for school every morning. I celebrate all of his accomplishments with him, and he celebrates every sober birthday with me. I tell him how much I love him everyday. He’s so kind to the broken because we were once broken. He’s truly so special.
Thank you God for allowing me to be a mother to this sweet boy every day.
It’s the sweetest gift of my sobriety."

In 1988, Israel Kamakawiwo'ole called the recording studio at 3am and said he had to record a song right away. 15 minutes later, Israel arrived at the studio. The studio owner, Milan Bertosa said, "And in walks the largest human being I had seen in my life." A security guard gave the 500 pounds man a large steel chair to sit on. Milan said, "Then I put up some microphones, do a quick sound check, roll tape, and the first thing he does is 'Somewhere Over the Rainbow.' He played and sang, one take, and it was over."

This is the final photograph of Phillip Herron 34, crying in his car, literally minutes before taking his own life.

He was a single Dad with three kids, struggling with crushing debt of over $20,000 and was desperately waiting for a Payday loan he'd applied for. But it was paid in arrears, with a 5 week wait time. That wait drove him even deeper into debt, and when he died he had $4.61 in his bank account and clearly couldn't see any other way out.

Like a lot of people, especially men, he kept all of this to himself, nobody else knew how bad things were getting. This poor man even had to tell his children that Santa Claus wouldn’t come this year, and in his su***de note he wrote that they'd be better off if he wasn't around any more.

And now he isn't.

We need to talk more. We need to be kinder. And we need to be a country that helps each other when we need it the most.

I lost my best friend this past Friday and I’m trying to keep it together but it is soooo hard 😭😭😭. I keep looking back as I take my other dogs out, just thinking he’s falling behind. But he’s not there and that realization is so hard to absorb. I will love you forever Baxter. I hope I was a good owner and did right by you. It wasn’t fair I did t get to spend one more day with you. My heart hurts so much….I know we will see each other again, I just wish I had one more time to hear your howl, your bark, see you come in from outside and prance in. All I have is memories. I miss you so much. So much.

With a silk head scarf draped across her saddle the Fell pony Carlton Lima Emma, whom the Queen rode into her nineties, stood on the grounds accompanied by Head Groom Terry Pendry as Her Majesty's coffin made its final journey to St. George's Chapel, where the Queen will be laid to rest next to her husband, Prince Philip. 💔 😢

Newborn at home so the dog has to go .

For those who give up their dogs when they have a baby, I'm posting this photo of a family whose 15-year-old Jack Russel Terrier is treated as one of the children (because he was their first child) and who is the protector of his two human brothers and sisters.

Never use the excuse that you had to let your dog go because you have a baby in the family and the doctor advised you blah blah blah and other lame excuses.

Never abandon your pets. They are family ❤️
