Another day, another jailbreak!
Reese was surrendered yesterday to a busy animal control facility around lunch time. Thanks to the quick acting shelter staff, and always-ready foster parents, she got to spend lunch today in a cozy foster home!

LEO UPDATE #2!

Leo was feeling himself last night and decided to rip out his IV catheter. Some repeat bloodwork today shows his kidney values have improved some, but they’re still not normal. His vet team thinks he may have some degree of kidney damage that will need to be managed with a special diet for the rest of his life - for now, he will receive daily SQ fluids at home with his wonderful Foster Mom, and we will recheck some lab work next week to see if those values have changed at all.

Keep sending him some good thoughts as he enters the weekend 💙

**FOSTER FOUND! Thanks Grace!**

Foster needed for “Teenie Wenie Little Beanie”. This little 4m old chihuahua mix was found stray in Norfolk, and her owners never reclaimed her. The shelter staff say she is a sweet girl - let us know if you have a soft place for her to crash for a few weeks, as we get her ready for adoption!

LEO UPDATE!

This handsome fella has had quite a 72 hours!
The good: surgery was a success! They were able to flush all the obstructed stones back into his bladder, then go in surgically to remove them.

The bad: his bloodwork upon arrival to the surgeon was awful…..as in “not compatible with life” awful…
His electrolytes were so outrageous that it was affecting his heart function - this caused his heart to stop twice on the table. Thankfully the surgery team is AMAZING and was able to stabilize him enough to get through the procedure.
We elected to hospitalize him overnight at Animal Emergency Center for continued fluid therapy, injectable medications, and additional bloodwork monitoring.
He was discharged at 8am, and is going back to hang out with his friends at Hampton Roads Veterinary Procedure Center for (hopefully) his last day of supportive care.

Urgent Help Needed for a 2-Year-Old Frenchie in Crisis! 🐾💔

Today we were introduced to a 2-year-old male French Bulldog who was found stray and struggling on the streets. Sadly, he is suffering from a severe urinary obstruction - a condition that can be life-threatening if not treated immediately. He has several small stones lodged in his urethra, and many more stones in his bladder. He is in dire need of emergency surgery to relieve the blockage, allow him to urinate, and save his life.

Right now, he is in the care of our vet team, but his surgery costs are high—and we need your help to give him the chance he so deserves at a happy life.

URGENT FOSTER PLEA: Loki, 2-Year-Old American Bully in Need of a Second Chance!

Meet Loki, a sweet 2-year-old male American Bully who was adopted from us as a puppy. Sadly, his owner recently dumped him at animal control, and now Loki is in desperate need of a loving foster home to help him get back on his paws.

Gets along with people, children, and great with other dogs
Well-mannered and eager to please

What’s more fitting on Mother’s Day than needing to find foster for the cutest chihuahua momma and her 6 little puppies? Puppies are about 4 weeks old, and need a few more weeks with mom before they can be split up into smaller groups in preparation for spay/neuter appointments. If you love you some puppies - send us a message!

Just a little bobble head-baby-bully update! 2 injectable medications daily, some good supportive care, and tasty food…..look at them now! We thought the severely affected hydro male (white/gray) wasn’t going to survive the night when he arrived……he had other plans, and now he’s the sassier of the pair. Please excuse Rescue Moms “puppy voice” and their mind numbing enrichment music - we promise to get better at photographing them. For now, enjoy this adorable video!
