Compassion For Canines is a foster based rescue organization dedicated to aiding homeless dogs in South Eastern Virginia, and North Easter North Carolina. All of our dogs are placed in fosters homes, and will be available to meet upon request.

Remember that time we said Georgia would prefer to be an only dog? We take it back.
Over the last 3 weeks of being in a new foster home away from her puppies, she has flourished with her dog friends. When she’s not tanning her buns lounging in the sun, she can be found playing bitey-face with her pitbull foster brother, or trying to get the shepherds to play with her.

We think she would enjoy another playful dog (or two) in her forever home to occupy her endless amounts of sweet, silly energy.

Short term volunteer needed!
We need someone to pick up this HANDSOME guy from his neuter apt in Chesapeake before 2pm today, and hang on to him until his foster mom gets off work at 5pm.
He will be sleepy, and not a bother at all - scouts honor!

Reagan says “sun’s out buns out”.
This handsome fella was neutered last week and is ready to transition to his final forever family. His foster mom is leaving for a much needed vacation on Wednesday, so we’d love to have him with his new people before then!

We need FIVE foster homes for five dogs who find themselves in need of rescue.

*HAS FOSTER* Baby Doll, 2yr female frenchie. Good with dogs and kids.
*HAS FOSTER* Macho, 3yr male frenchie. Good with dogs and kids.
Zeus, 8yr old husky mix. His owner has been diagnosed with some substantial medical conditions, and is moving into assisted living. Has lived with other dogs, unsure about children.
*HAS FOSTER* Milo, 10 month male Doberman. Lived with dogs and kids.
*HAS FOSTER* Sable, 6-8yr female Doberman. Stray, but presumed social with other dogs and respectful kids. Very laid back, mild mannered girl.

🚨 Foster Homes Needed for Two Loving Dobermans! 🐾

We are urgently seeking two foster families to open their hearts and homes to two beautiful Dobermans:

🐶 Milo: Male - 10 Months Old
This sweet young boy is full of energy, curiosity, and love. He’s still learning the ropes of life and would thrive in a home that can provide structure, playtime, and affection. He was surrendered for financial reasons, and has lived with other dogs and older children.

🐕‍🦺 Sable: Female - 7 to 9 Years Old
A calm, affectionate lady who just wants a comfy place to rest her paws. She’s past the puppy stage and is looking for a peaceful environment to enjoy her golden years. She was found as a stray, and never reclaimed.

Last foster plea for the day WE PROMISE!

This 4 month old “no name” puppy is half German Shepherd, and half Lab/Dutchie - the product of, you guessed it, backyard breeding. He is 25lbs, and very sweet/submissive. He is dog social too! He currently resides in Richmond, but has a ride back to Hampton Roads this evening if we can find a foster family for him.

So, you know the drill….send us a message if you’re interested in giving this guy a soft place to land for a bit.

Foster needed for “Jericho” an 8yr old Sheltie/Mini Aussie who comes in a Pomeranian sized package!

This handsome fella was surrendered to a local animal control due to a change in housing situation for his owner. We suspect he would do well in just about any low-key home.

He’s freshly neutered, and ready to get out of the kennels and into a home setting.

Meet Beaver! This adorable 4 week old chocolate Labrador puppy is looking for his next foster home now that he’s weaned. This cleft-palate-cutie gets his name from his plush, dense coat, and from the cute noises he makes.
Beaver is currently being hand fed “puppy Jello” 3x a day. Another week or two and he should be fully transitioned to puppy kibble.
