Black Cat Mules & More is now booking outside horses and mules for 2024.
If you’ve been wanting to send your horse or mule over to fix problem behaviors, get a little tune up, add finishing and finesse or have a youngster started under saddle with a solid foundation, send me a message so we can start discussing training plans and packages/pricing. Rates vary based on which program will best suits the needs and goals of you and your critter.
30 day minimum on all client horses and mules
60-90 days not required, but highly encouraged to plan for a longer stay when it comes to colt starts, but that depends on what level of start you’re wanting vs where your youngster is at mentally and physically.
I will answer inquiries in the order that they come in, text is best: 281-723-3662

Happy Trails to Gus! What a smart boy 😎
Can’t wait for the dirt to pack in on my new climbing structure so the mules and short ears can play. This is going to be a really useful tool for helping them practice careful foot placement and impulse control.
Who do you think will be the first nosey one to climb it on their own out in the pasture? I think my money is on Eli… maybe Harvey.
Shout out to Crystal and Glenn for putting on a fun and relaxing weekend ride where Peanut got a chance to test pretty much everything we’ve been working on.
The smart yella pony did all the things!
Stood tied overnight and didn’t make a fuss, went grazing in his hobbles at camp, rode front/back/middle of the group, neck reined well enough to drink beer and relax, got right up to the wagon for throwing away empties and getting refills, carried loaded saddle bags, ground tied on break, and even put up with some bareback silliness and helped give a lesson on how to sit the trot better.

Hatch’s first time using rein chains. I think he wants to be a vaquero bridle pony when he grows up
Go man! GO!
Harvey was ready to pour on some coals this evening 🔥🔥🔥
Beauty, brains and bravery! That’s our HoneyBee💣🐝
This is NOT a typical 5th ride AT ALL but damn, those Hutson boys sure know how to breed for good minded easy starting colts.
Smarty Pants Frances 💣
She has come so far from where we started 5 yrs ago. I just love this mule to death!!!
She’s been mostly on vacation while I’ve been working with client animals all spring, so I’d say she’s pretty finished when we can just load up and go out of the blue and take home a first place $$ in the Open division at a HOT AHCA show.
This was such a fun run😁 despite the HORNET 🐝 that got in her ear at the hanging barrels 😬

This little mule is just so dang cool. Really wish we could keep her, but KimmieSue is going to make somebody one hell of a trail partner. This was only the 2nd time Amber has ridden her and they ROCKED Green Horse 1 division at the Horsemen of Texas AHCA challenge today.
KS is seeking a new home that likes to trail ride and continuing in obstacles wide be even better.
4️⃣🍩🍩🍩 6yrs old, 13.1hh out of a stout QH mare.
💥PRICE SUBJECT TO INCREASE AS TRAINING/FINISHING CONTINUES! If not placed with a fantastic new home by July 1, we will be pulling her off the market and entering her for the AHCA Nationals💥
Apparently pop-up shark tents are only the devil when they’re in the arena at a HOT AHCA challenge 🤦♀️
KimmieSue’s first drag this morning 🥳 what a little rockstar!
KS was already familiar with tires, but I still made sure to let her inspect it before I put the drag rope over the horn - always better to avoid surprises if you can.
We started with just walking circles around the tire with the drag rope on the horn and slowly adding tension. From there I got her closer, did a single wrap (easy to let loose if she were to panic) and reeled her in until the drag rope got shorter and the tire was closer to her.
I also made sure to start with very SHORT pulls to let her get used to the sound it makes on the gravel and the weight of it before I had her take it in some straighter lines where the rope got closer to her hip.
Highly important: if she needed to take a break for a second and just stand there, I didn’t rush her to get moving again. I let her think it through and figure it out.
ALSO: when I’m teaching one to drag, I generally start by tracking a drag pulled by another horse before this particular process here. And I do NOT like a light weight drag of any kind. Light = we can panic in a hurry to get away, and it WILL chase your animal! Heavy is much better and safer in my opinion.
Thanks Stavinoha Tire in Fairchilds for giving us this old junk tire to play with 😁
Case and point why Mr Big easy probably won’t ever have a roached mane. His wild man hippie hair is just so weirdly cool looking, especially bouncing around with happy floppy relaxed ears 🥰

BCM Big Easy (Eli)
First ride in almost a year and he did great 😁 he gave Phillip just a little mild sassiness in the arena before we took a cool down trail, but other than being a little rusty on a few of his cues and just excited to be working he did everything he was asked like he hasn’t had a long vacation at all.
Rosey has progressed to saddle work as of this morning! Such a curious and smart little mare.
Great progress with Rosey so far. She’s very polite on the pony line, and doing her best to figure out more complicated things with pedestals.
