(Weld County Area, Colorado) This is a courtesy post for rabbits looking for a new home through a private individual. The rabbits are not available through House Rabbit Society. If you would like more information about them, reach out to Jane at [email protected].

Hi we are Judy (male) and Josie (female) a bonded rabbit pair! We are 4 years old and are both spayed/neutered. We are looking for a new loving family to be a part of. As our current mom is starting high school and involved in many activities she is struggling to find time to give us the care and attention she knows we need. We have lived as indoor rabbits our whole lives and are litter box trained! We are very sweet and love human attention, we like to cuddle and be pet and we love to eat bananas!

We can come to our new home with all of our belongings: 2 hooded litter boxes, water bowl, pop up play pen, nail clippers, brushes, toys, extra hay, bedding, p*e pads, etc. We are eager to find a new family soon!

Re homing fee: $50

Reach out to [email protected] if you would like more info or are interested in adopting us!

November is Adopt a Senior Pet Month! We have several older adoptable rabbits who we will be featuring this week, along with illustrations by HRS volunteer Danna C. To learn more about our adoption process, visit center.houserabbit.org/adopt. Please consider providing a senior rabbit with a safe, loving home. ๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿฐ

A well cared-for house rabbit can age gracefully and enjoy many golden years. Life expectancy for a house rabbit is 10-12 years, though we see some rabbits live to be 13 or even 14 years! A rabbit is considered to be a senior sometime between the ages of 5-8. When the signs of aging start to manifest is partly based on the size of the rabbit, genetics, and the quality of care they've received throughout their life.

As they age, your rabbit may need some level of special care at some point in their life. Expect this and know they will be grateful for your loyalty and love. Caring for our elderly companion rabbits is part of the commitment we make to them honoring the years of love and friendship we have shared with them โ€” and they with us.

Double your cuteness and double your fun by adopting a bonded pair of rabbits! ๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿฐ๐Ÿฐ Right now at our facility in Richmond, California, we've reduced adoption fees for bonded pairs to $50. Meet all of the adorable bonded pairs we have available for adoption at center.houserabbit.org/adopt!

There are so many good reasons to adopt two rabbits who are already bonded to each other. Many people assume that caring for two rabbits means twice the time, expense, and space, but thatโ€™s often not the case. Bonded rabbits usually share litterboxes, toys, and hay. Buying vegetables in bulk can even save you money. If you've never bonded rabbits before, adopting a pre-bonded pair can save you time (and the stress!) of doing it yourself. They'll also keep each other company while you're away for the day at work, so you donโ€™t have to worry about them being lonely. Plus, adopting a bonded pair means you're giving two rabbits a forever home, not just one!

In loving memory of Amy Sedaris' beloved Tina Bunny, who recently crossed the rainbow bridge, we're honored to share two beautiful illustrations capturing Tina's sweet spirit. ๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿฐ

The first is by 14-year-old local artist Nora H., who poured so much love and talent into this drawing. The second is by Amber Tadena, HRS staff, featuring Tina on his beloved mini sofa. It will be on a special holiday thank you card from HRS staff.

Thank you, Amy and Tina, for being such wonderful bunny ambassadors!

Staying home for the Thanksgiving holiday? Open your heart and your home to an HRS foster rabbit! With many of our regular long-term fosters traveling or taking time off this month, we're looking for people willing to foster a rabbit for the holiday.

We only ask for 2 week foster commitment. We have so many sweet rabbits who would love to spend time in a foster home with you and your family! We'll match you with a rabbit who's right for your interest and experience. Help make this season brighter for an HRS rabbit!

What We Provide: We'll equip you with all the supplies you need to get startedโ€”including an x-pen, litter box, bedding, food pellets, hay, blankets, and bowls for food and water. As a foster, you also receive a 15% discount at the HRS Hop Shop if you'd like to purchase any additional toys or treats while you foster.

What You Provide: The time, space, love, and care your foster rabbit needs, along with their daily greens (approximately $5-10 per week). Getting socialization in a foster home is so important, especially for rabbits who are shy or have other behavior needs, and helping them become more comfortable with people. You can help a foster rabbit blossom into the wonderful house rabbit they're truly meant to be!

Ready to open your heart and home to a rabbit in need? For those new to the program, you can submit a foster application now. If you've fostered with us before, let us know youโ€™re available by emailing [email protected] and weโ€™ll arrange a time for you to stop by our facility to pick up a rabbit. We can schedule foster pickups as late as Sunday, November 24th.

For those with a little more rabbit experience, we're also looking for fosters who can give extra love and support to some of our more special needs rabbits. For more details, email [email protected] and we'll be happy to talk more with you!

Foster A RabbitMake a meaningful difference for at-risk shelter rabbits. Our foster volunteers help us make space to bring in more rabbits directly from the local shelters. Often, our foster volunteers are the first to give these rabbits a loving space. Weโ€™ll match you with a rabbit whoโ€™s right ...

Can you donate an item (or two!) to our rabbit essentials pantry? As we gear up for the holiday season, we could use your help in keeping our pantry stocked for those in need. On average, every month we have about 40 different households utilizing the pantry, which has helped 150 rabbits continue to stay with their families as opposed to ending up in overcrowded shelters.

We're currently accepting food and litter items (unopened) and items like bowls, carriers, and x-pens that are lightly used and can be sanitized. Donations can be dropped off at our facility anytime Tuesdays through Sundays from 11 am to 4 pm (until 3 pm on Sundays). As a show of our appreciation for your support, when you bring your donation item to us, you will receive a special HRS supporter sticker!

Another way to support the pantry is to buy an e-gift card from Amazon, Chewy, or Pet Food Express and email it to [email protected]. We can then buy the needed food, litter and hay. Another option is to buy an item from our Amazon wish list or Chewy wish list to have them shipped directly to us.

Your donations also make it possible for us to continue important programs like our rabbit essentials pantry. So many rabbits are depending on the kindness of our supporters, who love rabbits and understand how wonderful they are, as cherished and loving family members in our homes. You can support the pantry by donating at houserabbit.org/donate. Please specify you would like your donation to be for the pantry in the comment box.

Make plans to join us for our 3rd annual holiday bunny bazaar on December 14, from 12 to 3 pm!

Stop by to make your own mischief mat to take home to your furry friend or give to an HRS shelter rabbit like Odin (pictured). We'll have a toy making station where you can make something that will be fun for your bunny to discover (and destroy). There will be various rabbit keepsakes and trinkets and other unique gift items for the rabbit lovers in your life along with a hot cocoa bar (with vegan options) available by donation. Check out the HRS Hop Shop for some holiday specials, too.

There's no ticket for entry. We'll have a free, exclusive HRS holiday bunny sticker for anyone who stops by, so don't miss out! All proceeds support rabbit rescue and education. We hope to see you there!

At HRS, we have an abundance of pairs right now, like Rubik's Cube & Tamagotchi (pictured). If you've been thinking about bringing home a new rabbit, consider adopting a bonded pair! Our adoption process is foster-to-adopt, which means you have a week at home with the rabbit(s) before deciding whether to move forward with adoption. Meet our wonderful bonded pairs and all the rabbits currently available for adoption at center.houserabbit.org/adopt.

Why adopt a pair of rabbits who are already bonded? Rabbits are very social creatures and most enjoy the company of other rabbits. Bonded rabbits typically have a very strong bond and it's essential to keep them together as they depend on each other. And plus, when you adopt a bonded pair of rabbits, youโ€™re saving two lives instead of one!

Many people incorrectly think that caring for two rabbits will double the time, cost, and space required compared to a single rabbit. This isn't necessarily true, as bonded rabbits (usually!) share their litterboxes, hay, and toys. Often buying veggies in bulk is more economical too. If you've never bonded rabbits before, adopting a pair who's already bonded will save you a lot of time (and headache!) of bonding them yourself. A bonded pair will also keep each other entertained while you're at work for the day, hopefully keeping themselves (mostly) out of mischief. Double your cuteness and double your fun by adopting a bonded pair! ๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿฐ๐Ÿฐ

Tomorrow, November 2nd, from 12-3 pm, our monthly rabbit essentials pantry will be open at our facility in Richmond, California. Every first Saturday of the month, we have essential rabbit supplies available to the public on a limited first-come, first-served basis. Items that may be available include carriers, litter boxes, litter pellets, hay, food pellets, x-pens, and a limited selection of toys.

The pantry is open to Bay Area residents in need due to financial difficulties, no proof of household income required. We also welcome anyone who has found a dumped domestic rabbit in their neighborhood and needs the supplies to care for the rabbit while rehoming them.

If you would like to support the HRS rabbit essentials pantry, you can donate at houserabbit.org/donate. In the comment box, please specify you would like your donation to be for the pantry. We also accept in-kind donations of items for the pantry. Food and litter items must be unopened, and other items should be lightly used and able to be sanitized. Thank you so much for your support!

Meet Zara! She's a big, friendly rabbit who would love to be your friend - and potentially be friends with your rabbit too! She is very busy and LOVES to play. She would be most happy in a home where she got a lot of time out of her pen to run around and loves to do happy dances that we call "binkies." She also likes toys, especially willow baskets and grass mats she can shred. She's been pretty good with her litter box and loves her hay and greens. She is a great choice for a first-time rabbit adopter.

Zara is spayed, microchipped, and vaccinated against RHDV2 (vaccine needs to be administered annually). House Rabbit Society recommends all rabbits see a rabbit-savvy veterinarian once a year.

Submit an adoption application for Zara at center.houserabbit.org. House Rabbit Society is located in Richmond, California, just north of San Francisco. Questions? Email [email protected] and we'll be happy to talk more with you!

Meet Mary, Sarah, and Winifred, aka the Sanderson Sisters! This dynamic trio is anything but spooky โ€“ theyโ€™re sweet and well behaved, and tidy. They donโ€™t get into a lot of mischief, so donโ€™t let the fact that there are three of them scare you. They like to cuddle too. Is there anything better than seeing three adorable rabbits cuddle together? We donโ€™t think so!

The Sanderson Sisters are spayed, microchipped, and vaccinated against RHDV2 (vaccine needs to be administered annually). House Rabbit Society recommends all rabbits see a rabbit-savvy veterinarian once a year.

Last month, we launched a shelter assistance program, designed to support shelters in addressing and reducing rabbit surrenders and make educational materials more accessible to diverse communities. The program aims to equip shelters with valuable resources and tools to assist rabbit owners in resolving common issues that may lead to pet surrender. If you would like to request that your local animal shelter receive a packet of our educational flyers, please submit our shelter assistance request Google form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeK8B4gchofLTHBzHsir1Mr87XWIkEwzYw-XkutURipg8djYQ/viewform?vc=0&c=0&w=1&flr=0

Already we have shared 28,000 copies of our educational flyers in both English and Spanish with 38 shelters. We hope to offer additional materials in Spanish as well as in Vietnamese, Tagalog, and Mandarin soon.

We're requesting that participating shelters log their rabbit intakes and outcomes in Shelter Animals Count, a national database that collects statistics from over 7,000 animal shelters and rescues in the U.S. and Canada. One of the challenges in the rabbit rescue community is the lack of comprehensive dataโ€”of those reporting shelters and rescues, only 373 have reported 1,777 rabbits in 2024 (as of September 1). While it's likely most rescues and shelters are dog and cat only, we know there are thousands more rabbits in shelters and rescues in North America who are not reflected in that statistic. This makes it difficult to fully understand and assess the true scope of the rabbit crisis as well as advocate effectively for resources and support. By requesting shelters log their rabbit data, this will help us gauge the program's impact and improve our support efforts. This data helps us make a case that more work needs to be done on behalf of rabbits nationwide.

Meet Oscar! He's a young, energetic rabbit who is very eager to make friends, with both people and rabbits. He loves when people stop by his enclosure to say hi and really enjoys being petted. We think Oscar would like to have a bunny friend he can snuggle and play with - and get into mischief with! He's full of energy and will need a lot of attention and toys to keep him busy and happy. Oscar would be a fantastic rabbit for anyone new to rabbits. He has a lot of love to give!

Oscar has slight balance issues and occasionally will fall over, especially when he's very excited and happy. These neurological issues did not resolve with medication, and he is stable at this time. He is EC negative.

Oscar is neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated against RHDV2 (vaccine needs to be administered annually). House Rabbit Society recommends all rabbits see a rabbit-savvy veterinarian once a year.

Submit an adoption application for Oscar at center.houserabbit.org. House Rabbit Society is located in Richmond, California, just north of San Francisco. Questions? Email [email protected] and we'll be happy to talk more with you!

Our last vaccine clinic of the year will be held on November 13th. Please note, we will not have a clinic in December. Schedule your appointment today: center.houserabbit.org/services/medical (Please be sure to also complete the intake form as well.)

We use Medgene Lab's RHDV2 vaccine. This is a 2-shot vaccine series comprised of the initial vaccination and a booster vaccination 21 days later. BOTH shots are required for vaccine efficacy. Full efficacy for this vaccine is 14 days after the second shot. The cost is $25 per shot. For rabbits who previously received the Medgene vaccine, and whose coverage hasnโ€™t lapsed, they only need a single booster shot.

RHDV2 is a serious and extremely contagious disease. Rabbits of all ages are affected by RHDV2. House Rabbit Society strongly encourages rabbit guardians to vaccinate their rabbits.
