July 4th can be a lot of fun but can create a decent amount of stress in our companions. Arlo and Fig both have experienced some anxiety in their lives (as evidence by the length of Arlo's tongue and Fig's very concerned expression). That anxiety can vanish with proper planning (have you ever seen anyone more relaxed)?
While enjoying the holiday, here are some tips to ensure your pet is safe and happy!
- Contact us for anxiety medications before they are needed *NOTE that our office is closed Friday, July 4th*
- Secure pets inside to avoid firework injuries or escape
- Have identification tags on pets, a microchip registered to your current address, and recent photos ready in case of escape
- Avoid sharing unsafe or excessive treats that may lead to toxicities, blockages, or GI upset (and secure trash!)
- Know your closest emergency hospitals in the event they are needed
We also ask that you are considerate of your neighbors and local wildlife who will be upset and injured from fireworks.
*our office will be closed Friday, July 4th and open again Saturday, July 5th for scheduled appointments*
