Cat’s Cradle of Greater Richmond is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, all-volunteer organization committed to rescuing and adopting cats and kittens from euthanizing shelters and situations of neglect and abuse, regardless of pedigree, age, physical condition or aesthetic appeal. Over 10,000 unwanted pets are euthanized annually at Richmond area pounds – healthy, loving animals who are put to death simply b

ecause they have no home. With your help, Cat’s Cradle is changing the fate of many of these animals by going into the shelters, pulling cats and kittens off death row, getting them immediate veterinary care, securing attentive foster care, and finding them permanent homes where they can be safe forever. And remember, we champion the elderly, disabled, special needs, injured, and difficult to place kitties who need extra care and compassion

Hey friends! I’d love for you to meet Monroe, the cutest 8-month-old boy you’ve ever seen! He might be a little shy at first, but his sweet personality shines through. This little guy was rescued from an auto mechanics shop and is now on the lookout for a loving home. Monroe absolutely adores treats and has a blast playing with wand toys. His foster mom affectionately calls him “her little teapot” because he’s just the perfect height and irresistibly charming! And you should check out his sitting posture—it's beyond adorable!

Miss Minnie is such a sweet little lady who has faced some challenges in her young life. At just 2-3 years old, she has unfortunately lost most of her vision. We were lucky enough to rescue her from a colony of 20 cats, where she was struggling to get by without enough food, water, or shelter. But don’t worry, we’ve turned her life around! The vet even removed her right eye, which was likely causing her discomfort. While she has a scar on her left eye and her third eyelid covers part of it, she can still navigate her surroundings pretty well.

We knew it wasn’t right to return her to the outdoors with her limited sight, so she’s been living with a wonderful foster family who has helped her adjust to indoor life. Minnie is friendly with other cats and isn’t bothered by dogs, but she would thrive best in a quieter home without small children. She’s fully litter trained and loves some gentle petting! While she can be held, she prefers not to be for too long, although we think she might feel more comfortable over time. At just 7 lbs, she’s a petite girl with a big heart.

We’re hoping to find her a forever home where she can take her time exploring and learning her way around. If you’re interested in meeting sweet Minnie or adopting her, please reach out to us! We can’t wait to find her a loving family!

If you’re curious about what we do behind the scenes, here is just one example. A litter of kittens was found helpless in a park. Thankfully, they’re all safe with us now. If you want to help us continue to save lives, we have a few ways: Any donation no matter how large or small that will help our rescue get through this winter and (hopefully) the last abandoned kittens this year. We can take you food donations at any of our donation bins at the 3 pet stores we partner with: Pet Supplies Plus in Midlothian, PetSmart Libbie Place and PetSmart Mechanicsville. As always, we could use fosters, volunteers and of course adoptions too.
