We love to celebrate each other! We show up for each other when times get tough, too.

Our Digital CSR, Emily, was diagnosed with ovarian cancer last year. When she started chemotherapy, the team made cards for her every 21 days when she’d have a long day of treatment.

Emily writes:

“You can’t imagine how special a surprise like this feels until you’re holding it in your hands. These cards have made me laugh, distracted me during painful infusions, inspired my own arts and crafts, and made me miss you all even more. The creativity and the artistry!

I know how busy you’ve been and how hard you’re working every day. Thank you taking a moment to make a card for me. I’m honored to have on !”

Have you ever wondered if you have a doppelgänger, or been mistaken for someone else? We think Colette, the terrier on the left, and Scooby, the chihuahua on the right, look like they could be long-lost sister and brother. For a minute there, they looked like they might be plotting a great escape from our waiting room, but they both made it into their appointments!

April is National Pet First Aid Awareness Month!

When they’re injured or ill, a vet is always the best bet for your pet!

However, in an emergency, basic first aid treatments could stabilize your pet until you can transport them to Quarry Ridge Animal Hospital or to the nearest emergency clinic.

Remember that first aid is not a substitute for veterinary treatment—any first aid treatment should be followed immediately by veterinary care.

Visit our website for critical first aid info, tips for assembling your own pet first aid kit, and a free printable pet emergency contact card: https://qrah.com/firstaid.pml

Our staffer Angela brought her mom's 4-year-old Sulcata Tortoise, Pebbles, in to see Dr. Chang and Ashley. Mom noticed that her appetite and activity level had changed and thought Pebbles might be constipated. With an exam and an x-ray, Dr. Chang confirmed the diagnosis. Pebbles went home with some antibiotics and instructions to stay active and soak in warm water to help get things working normally again. Sulcatas need regular soaks to stay hydrated and keep their skin and shells healthy and clean.

Did anybody else get some spring cleaning done over the weekend? This isn’t an ad, just a recommendation from a Quarry Ridge staff member!

“My family got a robot vacuum about a year ago to help us keep up with the dog fur between vacuuming. We chose the Roomba e5 based on the Wirecutter review. It’s not the fanciest model on the market. In fact, it’s not even designed specifically for pet hair! But it does chase down the tumbleweeds of fur that collect under the bed, which means we don’t have to. Our dog Birdie was curious about the vacuum when we first turned it on. Sometimes it surprises her when it changes direction. Mostly, she just ignores it, unless it’s carrying treats as shown here.”—Emily

Our annual Vet Tech & CSR Appreciation Week culminated with a crafty evening painting pumpkins and wizard gnomes at The Pottery Factory in Brookfield. It was fun to hang out together and we listened to Halloween music while we worked. Maybe next time, we'll learn to paint black cats!
