We are looking for help Saturday and Sunday mornings between 8am-12pm, 6-8 hours per week. This is an entry level position with room for cross training. Prior experience working with dogs is preferred, but not required.

We are looking for positive, caring, hard working, dependable individuals to add to our team. Duties include daily cleaning, supervising dogs during play times, walking, bathing, feeding, giving medication and general care of dogs and cats. Future cross training could include customer service, scheduling, temperament testing, grooming and more.

REWARD THE "NOTHING" Behaviors - ''

Nothing Behaviors:
-When you are at Petsmart talking to a friend and your dog is standing nicely next to you doing nothing, "reward."
-If you are on a walk with your dog and another walker with their dogs approach or pass by, your dog does nothing, "reward."
(Also if your dog can be reactive and does "nothing" reinforce your dog immediately.)

I think we need to pay more attention to these "nothing" behaviors, instead of always thinking you have to reinforce your dog when you have asked them to do a behavior.

Hello, All! I frequently get requests for recommendations for dog trainers. So this summer, I am excited to start a new partnership with a local dog trainer. I'd like to see how much need/interest there is in this area. I am hosting the class here outside in our front lawn, but the training will be provided by Heather Christopher from S**g N Wag Pet Salon & Training out of Shullsburg. This first class will be for general obedience, offered from 12pm-2pm on Sat 5/8/21. If there is interest we may offer different classes in the future. Happy Spring Break! It was one year ago we saw a 99% cancellation for our Spring Break reservations which marked the beginning of a very bleak year. As with everyone else, I am happy to finally see people traveling again. We are SO happy to finally have a full kennel again! Hope everyone has a fun and safe Spring Break! It is well deserved! Spring break is always challenging for us. The ground is thawing but not recovered from the winter yet. Add 30+ dogs and there is a tad bit of mud. The dogs love it, but us people...not so much. The first several years I hauled in mulch, but the last couple I’ve switched to straw, much easier!! And the dogs always get excited when I first bring the straw out. They love playing in it! Happy fist 50 degree day everyone! Spring is coming! 🌸🌼🌝
