😢 Baby Harry is struggling and just made it to the ER vet. He’s receiving oxygen and is being evaluated for a blood transfusion. He was hydrated overnight, but his previously pink gums are now a ghostly white and his breathing is becoming significantly labored.

We are unclear why all of his siblings had died and why he is so markedly thin at just a bit over a pound. He has made it this far, though, and he will be given every opportunity to live his best life, but we all know how costly this will be. ❤️‍🩹

Please lift baby Harry up in your thoughts and prayers and donate if you are able! 🙏

Adondes is a 2 y/o intact male who has been at MACC 3 times since May. In May, he was custodially released to the shelter after an incident where he bit a family member who was watching him while his owners were traveling for an unknown amount of time. She no longer wanted Adondes in her home and indicated that the owner might not want him back either, as he had allegedly bitten them before too. However, the owner ultimately reclaimed him.

The second time Adondes came to MACC was in late July. Animal Control Officers (ACOs) were called to the owner's address for a welfare check after a report of a dog choking. The officers found that Adondes had tangled his flexi leash around his collar, and had become agitated and was snapping as the owner tried to free him. It took multiple staff members to cut him out safely. Despite this, he was reclaimed again.

Most recently, on 9/2, Adondes returned to MACC after being found as a stray in an apartment building. Residents couldn't get close to him due to his attempts to bite, and didn't recognize him, so the police were called. The ACO on the scene noted that Adondes was very scared. MACC has attempted to contact his owner to no avail.

Here is what we know about Adondes:
- He can sometimes be hard to read in the shelter environment - staff members report different experiences
- While he sometimes greets staff with friendly body language, there are moments when he becomes stiff and stares
- Loves long walks, will seek affection, and enjoys being pet
- Housebroken and quiet in his kennel run at the shelter
- LOVES playing tug with toys, though he may need some guidance to know when playtime is over. Sometimes he plays politely, while other times he displays potential for resource-guarding behavior
- Participated in playgroups and did well. He appeared undersocialized but interested in other dogs. See full playgroup notes in the comments and watch Adondes in playgroups here: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLS5FLiVr89soa5rPRC6YnL-ftlQs2ME1D&si=3QQcso_CkUUM74JT

After so many visits to the shelter, shelter staff report that he is becoming depressed, and showing signs of stress and anxiety. Due to his history and behavior, Adondes has a deadline to be tagged by Monday, September 30 or he will be humanely euthanized on Tuesday, October 1.

If you are affiliated with a rescue partner, have experience handling reactive rovers, and wish to foster Adondes, please reach out to the intake coordinator of your rescue. If you're new to fostering and have a history of safely handling reactive dogs, please send us a message if you are willing to foster Adondes with a MACC rescue partner. If you are unable to foster, please pledge below and/or share this post!

THEO (A414315) video in comments
*note do not pay pledges until this post is marked as rescued at top of post above name.

Look at this smile folks! How can you resist this cuteness! Theo is surely going to win your heart over with his sweet personality!
Theo weighs 54 pounds and he is heartworm negative. He was surrendered after his owner was deported and the owner's friend could not keep him permanently.
The friend noted that Theo is good with other dogs, cats, kids, and livestock. They say he is house and crate trained. They say he knows a few commands and he likes walks, car rides, and being a lap dog!
Theo greets you at his kennel door with tail wags, wiggles, and a friendly face. He is a happy boy who is eager to make friends with you and hang out. He leashes up easily and he has good leash manners.
Theo enjoyed his kennel break. He had a good time outside while exploring and soaking up the warm sunshine. There were other dogs outside and he paid them no mind. Of course, we do always recommend a meet and greet with your pets to ensure a good fit.
Theo is a sweetheart. He just wants to be close by your side or in your lap getting love, affection, and sharing all his kisses with you.
This good boy is looking for a family to share his life and his love with. Can you give Theo a loving home? Our shelter is full and he needs a home quickly!
Theo is at Cumberland County County Animal Services, Fayetteville, NC 910 321-6852

UPDATE: Lady Slipper went to a Foster-to-Adopt home over the weekend through MACC. We will update once her adoption is final 🤞🏻. Thank you for all of your support and advocacy!

Lady Slipper is a 3 y/o pitbull mix who came to the shelter as an owner surrender on 8/1 after being found running loose. She was surrendered due to her escaping and staff believe she was likely kept as an outside dog with limited or no access indoors.

Unlike most of MACC’s code red dogs, Lady Slipper is ADOPTABLE directly through MACC or a rescue can tag her. If you are interested in adopting Lady Slipper, please read this post in full so you can provide her with a committed, stable home and set her up for success in the long run.

Lady Slipper has shown increasing signs of kennel stress including pacing, panting, and painting her kennel with f***s. She was recently featured on this page as an “at-risk” dog, but was adopted shortly after. Unfortunately, Lady Slipper was returned to MACC recently and is displaying worsening kennel stress behaviors.

Because of this, Lady Slipper has a deadline to be adopted OR tagged by a rescue by Sunday, September 15 or she will be euthanized on Monday, September 16, OR SOONER if her stress continues to worsen.

Between staff and volunteer interactions, notes from her weekend foster, and notes from her previous adopter, here is what we know about Lady Slipper:
- Well-mannered, great cuddler, and super sweet
- Incredibly loyal and lives to please her humans
- High energy, loves to run and play
- Super smart and would excel in obedience training
- Has met kids around age 5-6 y/o and was very gentle with them - dog savvy kids preferred
- Because she lived mostly as an outdoor dog, she’s still working on potty training. - - In her adoptive home, she hovered around the door to be let out to potty
- Needs to work on crate training. She didn’t make any attempts to escape or try to hurt herself, but she would scream for 15 mins before calming down and falling asleep – no shared walls for this lady! Her foster believes with some time, consistency and patience, crate training should be fairly easy

She LOVES other dogs. In her previous home as an outdoor dog, she would chew through her tie out to go play with other dogs in their yards. Her weekend foster home said they would trust her with any dog. Watch Lady Slipper in playgroups here: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLS5FLiVr89soOS_WFyjYa48LkhTCR-yDw&si=08ct7b29l7FSO_I5

If you're interested in fostering or adopting Lady Slipper, please send us a message. She thrives in a patient, dedicated home that can focus on her training and would benefit from having another dog companion. Lady Slipper needs a committed home and if she returns to MACC again, she will likely be euthanized due to her history of kennel stress. If you are unable to foster or adopt, please pledge and/or share this post!

❤️ ADOPTED ❤️

Shiba is a 4 year old cane corso that has spent her life outside and over breed. Despite her past, she is perfect, however she needs to be in an only dog home. Shiba knows sit and shake. Great with kids big and small. She wants to be by your side at all time. Loves attention and pets from everyone. Shiba does well in her kennel and perfect for baths. She takes treats super slow and gentle. She also loves belly rubs and toys (she doesn't even destroy them). Shiba is dominant and would do best in an only dog home. She has an amazing recall and walks great on a leash.

UPDATE: Marshall has been tagged by Unbreakabull Pit Bull Rescue of Minnesota! Please honor your pledges here: https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/UnbreakaBULLPBR
Other way to donate: Venmo

Unfortunately, we just received news that Marshall has a strict deadline to be tagged by a rescue TODAY, August 30 by 4:30pm or he will be humanely euthanized. MACC can be flexible on pick-up if they receive rescue commitment today but he will need to be picked up by tomorrow, Saturday, August 31 no later than 3pm.

Marshall is an intact 2 y/o 7 mo bully mix who came to the shelter as a stray on 8/12. He’s a short low rider who only weighs 34 lbs! He did well with his intake exam and the next day was moved up front to work with volunteers. Marshall started off as a sweet, wiggly, high-energy dog but like many dogs, the shelter environment got to him quickly and he displayed some jumpy and mouthy behavior while getting leashed up in his kennel if he didn’t have a toy. He was evaluated by a behaviorist who said the following:

“Marshall is a sweet, social little guy who tries so hard to do the right thing! He is very responsive to training and direction from his handler and picks up on training very quickly. Marshall needs someone who understands bully breeds and how to teach him what polite choices look like. With a stable environment, Marshall has the potential to be an amazing companion to just about anyone. Ideally, he would be in a home with older, respectful kids who understand dog body language and how to treat Marshall with love and respect.”

Marshall is very food and toy-motivated and offers a polite “sit” for treats. He just wants to please his people! Volunteers have described him as fun, playful, and energetic. He hasn’t had the chance to join playgroups yet, but volunteers have reported that he seems happy and relatively “neutral” when other dogs pass.

Marshall has a short deadline for a few reasons:
- Like most of the dogs at MACC currently, he contracted kennel cough and is now in an isolation ward where he is increasingly kennel stressed due to a smaller, confining space and is more difficult to leash up.

- He has experienced two neurological episodes (possibly seizures) since being at MACC with his most recent one taking place this morning.

- He is on a bite quarantine after minor tooth scrapes when he was jumpy and mouthy with two volunteers on Friday.

Since he is still on bite quarantine, the foster would need to be able and willing to follow home quarantine rules until it’s lifted (9/2) - meaning no interaction with other people or animals, outside only on leash for potty breaks, etc.

We know it’s a holiday weekend but we hope Marshall gets the chance he deserves. Please SHARE this post and pledge a donation amount to the rescue that tags Marshall. If you are affiliated with a rescue and are interested in fostering Marshall, please contact your intake coordinator ASAP.
