Valley Veterinary Hospital

Valley Veterinary Hospital We strive to provide excellent primary veterinary care for cats and dogs in the Rifle area! 🐾 We accept CareCredit.

We are a full-service veterinary hospital serving residents of Rifle, Silt, New Castle, and Parachute. Diagnostic Services:

Our in-house laboratory and digital radiology allow for complete blood testing and state of the art x-rays, enabling us to diagnose and monitor many medical conditions. We also have the ability to do complete urinalysis and parasite testing. We work closely with outside lab

oratories to conduct specialized diagnostic testing when necessary. Surgery and Anesthesia:

We offer a wide array of surgical services including ovariohysterectomies (spays), neuters, laceration repairs, mass removals, amputations, and more. All surgery patients receive intravenous fluids and are monitored with equipment such as an ECG machine, blood oxygenation level monitors, and a blood pressure monitor. Wellness & Preventive Health Care:

Our doctors are passionate about keeping your pets healthy from the very beginning with effective preventative medicine. This refers to all the things necessary to PREVENT disease, or catch it in the early stage. Examples are bringing your pets in for routine wellness exams (annually), keeping them up to date on vaccinations, conducting flea, tick, and heartworm testing and using parasite prevention, and performing routine f***l testing and deworming. Dentistry:

Pet dental health is extremely important! Just like humans, pets need routine professional dental care. All of our dental cleanings are done with your pet under anesthesia so that our doctors can safely and accurately treat the entire mouth. Calcified dental tartar can only be removed with an ultrasonic scaler. All of our dental patients also receive dental x-rays to allow for a full examination of the teeth. We are able to provide ultrasonic cleaning and polishing, dental X-rays, and tooth extractions when indicated. Referral Services:

There are many specialists now, just as in human medicine. We utilize these resources whenever necessary to provide the best possible care for your pet. Please visit our website for more information on our referral specialists.

It's time to 'Beat the Heat' in February with National Spay and Neuter Awareness Month!

Spaying and neutering your pets can be very important for their overall health. It can reduce roaming and other unwanted behaviors, reduce the spread of diseases, and help control pet population.

Starting in February, we will be having a reduced cost spay/neuter day each month. For February, that will be 2/19/25. All spays will be discounted $150, dog neuters will be discounted $100, and cat neuters will be priced at $100.

Please note, all pets participating in this will need to be considered 'generally healthy' by one of The Valley Veterinary Hospital DVMs, and they will need to have their blood drawn for the preanesthetic panel before the date of their surgery. Bloodwork is valid for 1 month prior to surgeries and cat neuters will not need this. All pets must also be up to date on their rabies vaccines, or we can administer it on the day of their surgery.

For any questions or if you would like to get your pet(s) scheduled, please give us a call at 970-625-5035.

Your doggie may LOVE going for car rides, but NEVER leave them in the car. Parked cars become ovens quickly. If they can't go inside, please leave them in the comfort of your home.

Cars magnify heat. When you step into your parked car on a hot day, the steering wheel and the seat feel like they’ve just emerged from an oven. This uncomfortable greenhouse effect can happen even when it’s cooler outside.

On a 75-degree day, the inside of a parked car can climb to 110 degrees in minutes. In 20 minutes on a 90-degree day, the same car can get up to 130 degrees inside.

Although we humans can sweat and regulate our body temperatures, this extreme heat can still be deadly, especially for infants and toddlers. Dogs have a harder time adjusting to heat than most humans, so being stuck in a hot car can quickly become life threatening.

♥♥♥♥♥

When the temperature rises, dogs will try to cool off by panting, and their anxiety level will likely rise in relation to their discomfort. After all, imagine wearing a fur coat in a small, 100-degree room, not knowing where you are or where your friends are. Panic can easily set in, making matters worse.

We’ve had a few doggies this week that have presented on emergency visits with dire issues. They needed urgent medical attention throughout the day and continued care at the Emergency Room over night. 💲

⚠️As a reminder; It is ALWAYS a good idea to have an emergency fund in place for your pets! They deserve it!

We wanted to remind everyone that we do take CareCredit payment as well as normal payment options for when the situation arises. This is another way for you to be able to get the care your pet deserves, in an emergency or normal veterinary visit. See if you prequalify and be prepared if an emergency arises for your beloved family member ❤️

🚤🌊 **PSA: Wear Your Life Jacket! 🌊🚤

Hey everyone! As we head into summer and enjoy more water activities, remember that 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗷𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝘀𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀. Whether boating, kayaking, or paddleboarding, always wear your life jacket. It might seem unnecessary, but accidents happen fast, and a life jacket can make the difference between life and tragedy.

Stay safe, protect yourself and your loved ones, and enjoy the water.

Whether you know them as feral cats, barn cats, working cats, or community cats, one thing is true: they can multiply FAST! This graphic illustrates how a single unspayed female cat can become a colony of dozens in just two years (and that's a conservative estimate--what if she starts with a litter of eight kittens instead of four?!). C.A.R.E. has a TNR (Trap, Neuter, Return) program for local residents that offers free spay/neuter surgery, vaccinations, microchipping, and ear-tipping for community cats to help prevent overpopulation and keep cat communities healthy. We'll even loan you a trap! Call us and let's get started. 970-947-9173
