Our neighbors brought their little girls over t see the puppies tonight. When little Gracie noticed some of them starting to tucker out and fall asleep she wanted to sing them a lullaby.
4 weeks old today! Anyone want a cuddly valentine?
2 weeks old today! Not as much room at the breakfast table!
Need to get a video and pics up of our new puppies! Kona gave birth to 9 healthy puppies on New Years Eve, just in time to qualify for that child credit tax deduction. 😉
This is a beautiful litter from titled parents. More info on our website. labsofcottonhollow.com
6 weeks old. Still have 3 girls available. Anyone need an Easter puppy?
This was a few days ago. We still have quite a bit of snow!
Kirk Geisler with his new student, Belle. Just a few minutes a day is all it takes to train a smart hunting dog.
Working with our new pup, Belle. She is nearly 15 weeks old. Such a smarty. Completely housebroken. She will go the the back sliding door and ring the bells to go out. She has a great calm disposition but is still playful and fun. She has loved the snow, climbing as high as she can go to find a spot to poop.🤣
Here's Kirk working with her. Another fine retriever in the making.
The puppies are three and a half weeks old. I took this video a couple of days ago. Wanted to share them having their first mush. We moved them out into the puppy pen and the garage. This is the beginning of a transition for mom and babies and us. Now they have a place to go potty away from their bed so it becomes the beginning of housebreaking. Their new owners will be very happy that we put in this kind of work as it will make house breaking so much easier when they get them home. Puppy mush is just softened and then blended kibble.. They will be on this for a few days and then we'll just go to softened kibble and eventually they will be on dry food by about the age of six weeks. Mom will continue to nurse them but gradually, the frequency will lessen until she will be done at around 5 weeks of age. It is interesting to watch a mother dog teaching her babies. She will hop in the pen and get them stirred up so that they walk off onto the paper, go potty and then come back and she will lie down for them to nurse. She is actually helping with the potty training.
Now is when we start inviting people to come and spend time with the puppies. This early socialization makes a huge difference when they leave and their new families are training them.
You are welcome to come get some puppy therapy! Sounds like a fun Spring break activity. Now that they are eating some kibble, mom will do less cleanup an we will be doing more. Still have a few available. They will be ready for Easter.
Puppies are two weeks old today. They are walking rather than crawling and we have open eyes! That means we also have open ears. Did you know that puppies are born with closed eyes and closed ears? It's quite remarkable they are as developed as they are with only 63 days gestation. Once the eyes and ears open they start making rapid progress. Because they can hear, they will start making more noise. They will learn to bark this week, to growl and their whining changes. It's fun to watch the progress. They've nearly tripled their birth weights by now. You will be surprised at the difference between week two and week three. That's when they start looking like little labs rather than the generic puppy. Kona is proving to be an awesome mom. She went through a rough patch, not feeling well last week but is back to her normal healthy self now. We are grateful.
Love those puppy sounds!♥️
We have two litters of puppies right now who just turned 4 weeks old. One of them is going to a family in Colorado who sent this video from this morning. Love the reaction, especially of the daughter. Want to make your kids this happy? We still have a few available. 😁🐹
