Our facility is strategically positioned for easy access to area schooling shows, training opportunities in Aiken, and rated dressage competitions across GA, SC, and NC. Laura Barnes is the owner, manager, and head trainer of Legacy International Dressage, where she applies her lifelong passion for horses to the art of dressage. Starting her equestrian journey at the age of seven in Atlanta, she q
uickly advanced from a student to a working role, managing lesson programs and riding Grand Prix horses by age 11. After graduating high school at just 14, she acquired her Friesian gelding, Jeremiah, which marked the beginning of her commitment to training young horses. Despite facing challenges, including a diagnosis of adult-onset epilepsy that temporarily halted her riding career, Laura remained dedicated to her craft and became PATH certified with Jeremiah as both horse and instructor. After gaining extensive experience managing Applewood Farm and working with esteemed trainers, Laura returned to South Georgia to establish a 24-stall facility on 14.5 acres. At Legacy International Dressage, she emphasizes individualized training programs that prioritize the well-being of each horse. With a focus on comprehensive care, Laura collaborates with a team of specialists to ensure that all horses receive optimal support in their training and health. Her commitment is further highlighted by sponsorships from notable brands like Devacoux and Seminole, reflecting her dedication to excellence in dressage training.
