Things have been very busy at the clinic lately! New client appointments are currently booking two+ weeks out, and wellness visits for existing clients are booking 10+ business days out. We are doing our best to accommodate illness/injury appointments for existing patients in a timely manner. Please be patient with our staff and understand we are working hard to ensure every patient we see is getting our utmost attention and care.

Introducing our newest Clinic Pet! 🤣

This late stage cuterebra came to us in the neck of a 5-week-old kitten found in a barn on Saturday. We removed it and started the kitten on antibiotics and she is doing much better, and now Dr. Clarke is waiting to see if this “wolf worm” will pupate into its adult form!

Additional pictures will be posted in the comments.

One of our licensed technicians, Dana, was recently diagnosed with cancer. Just a few weeks later, her husband was also diagnosed with cancer. Now, they are both undergoing chemotherapy and Dana’s husband is also receiving radiation.

Their lives and family have been turned upside down. Neither are currently able to work due to treatment, so a GoFundMe has been set up for their benefit.

Donations can also be dropped off at the clinic during normal business hours if preferred.

We adore our clients and patients, and are so grateful for their trust! We are appointment-based so that we can give every pet the time and attention they deserve.

For the past 14 months, we have utilized a system that sends email and/or text reminders whenever your pet has an upcoming appointment. Save-the-Date emails and/or texts are sent typically within a few hours of making an appointment (if it is further than 7 days out). Reminder emails go out 2 evenings before, and reminder texts the day before around 11am.

That being said, can we ask a favor? The response rate for confirmations in the last year is right around 53%. When you receive a reminder via email or text, please take a moment to click "Confirm your appointment" or reply to the text with a Y (or a N if you cannot make the appointment). Letting us know when you cannot make the appointment is just as important as confirming you will be there as it allows us to open up that appointment slot for another patient.

Last-minute cancellations and no-shows are a fact of life when your business relies on appointments, but ideally, we'd like them to be few and far between. We understand things come up, as they do for us all. We simply ask that you let us know as soon as you do when plans need to change.

Thank you! We would not still be here 21(!) years later if it weren't for our awesome clients and patients!

Important information if you plan to travel outside of the US with your dog after August 1, 2024.

Starting on August 1, all dogs entering the U.S. (including those that left the U.S. and are returning, and regardless of the country they are coming from) must be:
• healthy upon arrival
• at least 6 months of age
• microchipped
• accompanied by a CDC Dog Import Form receipt and required vaccination and veterinary documents.

Additional requirements may apply depending on where the dog has been in the last 6 months and whether or not the dog was vaccinated in the United States.

Use CDC’s Q&A tool (the CDC “DogBot”) to determine what rules apply to your dog: https://bit.ly/2rww2bq

Since the SureFeed Microchip Feeder Connect was such a hit, our head veterinary technician, Kittie, decided to get a Felaqua - also made by Sure Petcare.

This microchip and app-enabled waterer is specially designed to be the water dish your cat wants to use. It's shallow, hydrophobic dish makes it easier for cats to see the water and gives them ample room to drink without their whiskers touching the sides. Both the reservoir and the dish are dishwasher safe, and there are no expensive filters and no need to plug it in (it is battery powered, and the batteries should last around 6 months).

As your cat drinks from the Felaqua, it records how much they are drinking. At any time, you can open the app and see how much water your cat has had for the day, as well as when you last filled it and how much water remains. The app can send you an alert when the reservoir is nearly empty as well as a reminder to refresh the water if it's been a few days.

Kittie's five cats will often bypass the large fountain waterer they have for the dogs to drink from the Felaqua. That *may* be because the dogs are Great Danes, and they always leave a bit of slobber behind 😉 Regardless, the Felaqua is now a valued member of the household!

Our clinic recommends the family of products. Now, you can get 15% off their app-connected products and free shipping by visiting surepetcare.com/connectedvet and searching for our clinic.

The Cat Distribution System decided last fall that our head veterinary technician, Kittie, needed THREE kittens. Added to her existing cats, she suddenly found herself juggling how to feed five cats two different diets in appropriate quantities.

Enter the SureFeed Microchip Pet Feeder Connect! With a feeder for each cat, she is able to prevent stealing, make sure each cat is getting the right food in the right amount, and she can even check to see when they were fed last (preventing a second breakfast when the cats promise they haven’t been fed yet!).

Our clinic recommends the family of products, especially for multi-pet households. Now, you can get 15% off their app-connected products and free shipping by visiting surepetcare.com/connectedvet and searching for our clinic.

11/21/2023

There is potential outbreak of Canine Infectious Respiratory Disease Complex (CIRDC) that is occurring across the country. There have been reports of cases in the Chattanooga area.

At this time, we are recommending that you try your best to avoid situations in which dogs are in close contact (grooming, boarding, dog park, etc.). CIRDC is very contagious and passes easily from dog to dog. If your dog must be in contact with other dogs, ensure they are up to date on Bordetella, Parainfluenza, +/- Canine Influenza vaccinations.

If your dog begins showing symptoms of CIRDC (coughing, nasal/eye discharge, lethargy, decreased appetite, etc.), isolate them from other dogs and contact us for an appointment.

One of our licensed veterinary technicians (LVT), Kittie, spent the last four days in San Antonio at the Southwest Veterinary Symposium for continuing education (CE).

LVTs and veterinarians are required to attend CE in order to maintain their license. We encourage all of our assistants to attend CE as well, as we believe keeping up with advances in veterinary medicine is important to giving our patients the best care possible.
