Meet Jake!!!
Guys!!! My wish for the new year is to find a home for this boy!!!! Please share and help us find him a home before the new year gets here!!!
Jake is a 7 year old senior German Shepherd who has been at the Four Legs Good NY NJ shelter in Rockland NY for over a year š. He is my favorite dog at the shelter and the best boy. Last week I went to spend time with him and play in the snow. He had an absolute blast!!
Jake came in as an owner surrender. His family could no longer care for him. When he came in he was very overwhelmed and terrified. It took him months to acclimate, but with the help of the shelter team and volunteers he has come leaps and bounds. He has been at the shelter since I wrapped up my contract last December. Due to his age and his needs he is continually overlooked.
Jake needs a home with people who have German shepherd experience. He loves to work and play. He is cuddly and fun but needs structure and someone who understands his breed. He needs a confident handler and someone who is willing to continue working with him. He has done beautifully with female dogs and we are going to be doing some further dog testing with him this week.
Jake is not a fan of kitties so a home without them would be prefered. He also would prefer a laid back home without children. He is a dignified older gentleman and kids can often overwhelm him.
Jake is a favorite at the shelter among the volunteers. He loves car rides and playing in the snow. He loves hiking and pup cups and going places with his favorite volunteer Jess.

Travis 10 Months Later!
From foster brothers healing together, to best friends for life ā¤ļø. About 10 months ago we rescued Travis from a local cruelty case, emaciated and neglectedā¦ Would you believe this is the same puppy about 10 months later?! Handsome boy is now 76lbs of lovable doofus living his best life with his forever family, and still gets to hang out with his best friends and Southern Paws family! Our strong little boy is truly a fighter, and ready to head back home to his medical foster. We think his tail wagging says it all! Weāre truly grateful for everyone who donated to support Paisleyās care, and weāre just as grateful to Westwood Regional Veterinary Hospital for taking amazing care of our boy through a rough time for him. He is truly lucky to have had the best outcome in the end, and his Southern Paws family by his side!
Southern Paws Inc. is a Non-Profit organization that works very closely with southern rescue groups to provide needed homes for dogs in the Northern USA.
