Friends of Gallia County's Animals

Friends of Gallia County's Animals Promoting the welfare and providing assistance and care to displaced, abandoned, or abused animals is essential.

Spaying and neutering are key components of this care. Independent volunteer 501(c)(3) organization created to promote positive and healthy animal/human relationships. We plan to develop a network of foster homes for both domesticated and farm animals. We also plan to conduct fundraising events for emergency vet care, foster parent support, and pet care/awareness activities. Our goal is to prevent the unnecessary euthanasia of homeless animals and promote responsible animal care and ownership.

I guess I need to say I copied this to share. I do have a couple old dogs (both are 12) and a 16 yo cat. They’re the best! (Even if they p*e on my floors)

It was my decision.I knew what I was taking on.15-20 years. No one forced me, no one held a gun to my head. I wanted Him!I knew I would be bound somehow. No casual parties, no longer vacations if I couldn't take Him with me, because I had to go home to Him. I had to take care of Him, feed Him, take Him for walks. It didn't matter what the weather was like or whether I felt like it.I had committed myself to giving Him everything I had, taking care of Him, and taking Him to the doctor if He was sick.I had committed myself to having a tighter budget, to having all my clothes covered in dog hair, and to ruining my things. I knew that while He was little, He could chew everything up, He would p*e and p**p, and I would have to clean up after Him all the time. But I wanted Him.I'm not saying that it's always easy, that there won't be a moment when I wish for a warmer climate and yell at Him. There are many times like this, and there will be more. But I can never really be mad at him. Objects can be replaced, the carpet can be cleaned, my clothes can be washed. But those sparkling eyes that are so happy for me when I get home that they fall apart while jumping around are irreplaceable. It doesn't matter if I'm gone for 5 minutes or 5 hours. His attachment and unconditional love are irreplaceable either. The moments when I'm in a bad mood, but he comes and pokes me with his cold nose, or pushes his toy into my face. You don't even notice, and the years fly by. His face will turn gray, his movements will slow down, and the light will disappear from those once sparkling eyes. He will no longer want to take long walks and play ball endlessly. He would rather just be next to me and rest. We will go to the doctor more and more, I will clean up the "accidents" again and I will be afraid of when he will leave. But I took it because I wanted it! I wanted him as a puppy, as a young man, and as an old man with all his beauty, happy moments, and even with all his worries on the worst days! There is not a moment that I have regretted!I took responsibility for him the moment I took him in, until the day I have to let him go.My dog will not look for a new owner, he will not end up in a shelter, I will not move to a new place if he cannot come with me. The person for whom I would throw him away has not been born yet and will not be. He is a part of my life, and he will always be!I took this on. From the first day to the last!

If you are familiar with the breeds, and can offer patience and understanding, Ember could make the perfect addition to your family!

Ember is a beautiful 1 year old Great Pyrenees, German Shepherd mix. She is highly intelligent and knows all the basic commands. She loves to go on walks, play fetch in the yard and chew on yummy bones! She is fully potty trained and fully crate trained.

Ember is slow to warm up to new people, especially men, and any potential adopter will need to be very patient while she’s getting comfortable in her new home and learning to trust her new people. Once she settles in, she is playful, loyal and sweet!

Ember enjoys playing with other dogs (she’s also cat friendly) and she gets along great with kids, although she does sometimes playfully throw up a paw, so older children might be best.

She needs to be fed separately from other animals due to food guarding (animals only, no issues with humans).

Ember would make a great addition to any family who is willing to give her love and a bit of reassurance!

🐾 To learn more about our adoption process and to apply to adopt, visit www.stopthesuffering.org/adopt. All of our dogs are fostered in the Columbus area and are available for adoption to Ohio residents. If you see a dog posted on social media who is not listed on the adoption application, select “unknown” and fill in the dog’s name later in the application.
