From zero to something....
In August of 2008 our family moved to a farm in Rio Linda. Well, it wasn't much of a farm at that time -- a small house with a ruined barn on a piece of dirt would be a better way to describe the place. It's greatest asset was a beautiful, big, old elm tree that provided some shade for the house in the sizzling summer heat. A lot of hard work and many trials and errors later, the piece of dirt is starting to look like something. The red remodeled barn has become a landmark on the country road. There are at least five hundred new trees, some baring fruit and others giving shade. Three beautiful horses roam the pastures, and four dogs play their hearts out all day. Two pot belly pigs live among a flock of happy free range chickens, and numerous birds come to feast on the farm goodies. Frogs are performing concerts at night, and lizards play among the firewood. We pick never ending loads of boysenberries in June, and in July and August we drown in tomatoes and eat summer veggies from the garden. We now share the bounty with our community, but we've got a bit more work to do first.
