Thank you Janie for sharing a pic of your babies you got from us! Janie actually won our giveaway a while back and got to come and pick out some chicks. These are just a few of the ones she got from us. Look at how beautiful they are growing up to be.

Unpopular Opinion Alert ⚠️ 📢 😳

I hear a lot of, "You don't want to buy someone else's culls." Except, yes, yes I actually do.

Someone else's cull may have that awesome cushion and tight wings that I'm looking for. Someone else's cull may be exactly what you need for what you're working on in your program. Also, don't freak out over a funky wing. Does the bird have great type? Do they have everything else you're looking for? Then ignore the wing Buy. 👏 The. 👏 Damn. 👏 Bird. 👏 and then cull hard. That's how you keep improving what you're working on. If you're waiting for a breeder to sell you a perfect bird, well, good luck to you because you're going to be waiting a loooong time.

Thank you so much Kimberly Feddon for sharing the photo of the baby chicks you got from us!! ❤️ Look how gorgeous and fluffy these babies have grown to be.

We are so proud of how our breeding is coming along, the strengthening of the bloodline, the beautiful dark skin, the crests, beards, combs, eyes, toes, wings and cushion have improved so much since we first started. With every hatch we get closer and closer to our dream goals of being SOP. We will get there, but like all things hard work, dedication and practice will make things perfect in time.

Haven't posted in a bit, but I've been EXTREMELY busy. We added two new members to our flock! Welcome home Brooklyn and Austin!! We are so excited to have them home. Brooklyn was my daughter Samantha's 4h goats this year and Austin was her good friend Hannah's. We decided to bring them home and save them from the meat locker. This is what we do over here, we save animals in need of loving homes.

My wonderful hubby built their stall in our shed by hand with no plans or blueprints. He is so incredibly talented and I am the luckiest woman alive ❤️. Oh, and he built that hay feeder too; using scrap wood and fencing. ☺️

I've also been working my butt off with two shifts a day on Amazon, plus caring for the house, the animals, and my family. If I haven't responded to messages yet, I will get back to you today, I promise!

Meet little cheesecake! Cheesecake is a beautiful mottled satin who is absolutely stunning from my breeding of mottleds. I've been working on trying to darken the skin and beaks and I'd say this one is absolutely a step closer! ❤️

It was a chilly day today! However, I still managed to get my runs raked out of all the massive piles of feathers from my babies molting.

I could have probably made a giant chicken suit out of all the feathers I raked out.

Of course my handsome bielefelder Cockerel, Theo, had to get some attention and love. His father is none other than Buster, mother could be one of the Sanderson sisters or Big Mama. Their eggs all look the same so it is hard to tell which one laid what.

Theo was of course hatched here, raised here and is now going to be used in our breeding program when he is old enough. He is turning into such a handsome young Cockerel!

Pro tip: Bielefelders are auto s*xed birds. From hatch you can determine the s*x of the baby chicks. The chipmunk pattern on the baby chicks will determine if the baby is a male or female; females will have a thick wide stripe going down the back without interruption and the male will have the interruption in the thick line within the chipmunk pattern.

Let's show off some of our beautiful grow outs!!! All from my breeding 😉 ~Amber.

First up from our satin paint pen. See, we know the difference between a paint and a splash! 🤫🤭😑👀
(Btw ignore the super judgemental Serama in the back, she was a gift to my sweet, Samantha from our Silkie Sister Spring Hill Roost ).

Next up is my VERY first silkie that was Mottled and frizzled!!! Of course the one I kept would be a boy. I had to DNA test and of course bird IQ verified. 😮‍💨 Oh well, he will be put in with Cruella come spring in their own pen. Super exciting! He is such a wiggle worm, any suggestion for a name for him? 🤔 Btw, his Daddy is none other than my absolutely stunning Gold base White Rooster, Hedwig, that I placed with the beautiful Misty.

Ah, My handsome Satin Red Pyle. ❣️ This little man is my pride and joy! His daddy is none other than the adorable Buckbeak and Mama is the beautiful Ethel! He is absolutely gorgeous and growing into such a wonderful little looking young Cockerel!

Hello Gorgeous Frizzle mottled bantam Cochin Pullet! How dare you be so absolutely stunning! 😍 Daddy is Featherstone, Mama is the beautiful and stunning Misty. ❤️

Oh sweet frizzle baby silkie! Look at you at 8 weeks old. So tiny, so cute! Daddy is the very handsome, very demure Domino, mama is my beautiful frizzle, Raina.

SWEET sweet, Hoppy. Hoppy is extra special. His mama is Midnight and Daddy is Domino. He is a very beautiful black Silkie. Perfect toes, perfect cushion... However, Hoppy was born with splay leg and refused to ever keep the bands on to fix his legs. Hoppy is now my beautiful indoor sweetheart now because he has permanent leg issues. ❤️

And last but not least, my very first ever Mottled I bred. Father is Hedwig and mother is Misty. I'm pretty sure I have another Cockerel on my hands here. 😮‍💨 But time will tell 🤷‍♀️!

I honestly cannot wait to see all of these gorgeous babies grow up. I love watching them grow and see how their feathers change.

You know it really kills me when I see other breeders making comments about other breeders in negative light. First off, this makes you look absolutely envious of others, secondly why are you THAT worried about what everyone else is doing? If you focus on you and your birds you might be more popular than you are, jealousy and envy will never get anyone far in life.

Next topic! Let's talk about what it means to have your own bloodline. My original birds were adopted and saved from auctions. That's no lie, I have no problem telling people where my business started from. I saved them and gave them a loving home. I also brought in 2 silkies that were severely injured by a bigger rooster. This is where my bloodline began. I started from the bottom and worked my way up to where I am. I started with pet quality and bred better and then bred those babies and so on and so forth. Long story short my silkies are beautiful pure babies that come from years of breeding. That is what a bloodline is, it comes from YEARS of breeding. Giving credit to the breeders I bought from to improve my bloodline to make the genetics stronger and better. As a breeder that is what you do. You bring in better birds to make your birds prettier and fluffier, etc.

Now let's talk vaccines. I vaccinate because I lost damn near my whole silkie flock except growouts of my babies, birds that were in separate coops/pens/runs over the summer. I was absolutely devastated because I lost some of my most beloved babies to mycoplasma. I then had to clean my coop thoroughly, have my birds that were still in my premises tested to make sure all illness was gone and had to start my breeding all over again from what I had left. It was the most difficult time I have ever faced as a breeder. I never want anyone to feel the heartache and devastation that I did, so I vaccinate every bird that I intend on keeping in my flock, unless they are already vaccinated upon arrival. I will absolutely tell you where I got every bird in my property, who the parents are, etc.. I have no shame in my business and will gladly tell anyone anything they want to know as I have nothing to hide. There is no shame in being an honest person and telling the truth. What hurts your business is being dishonest.

~We also are NPIP certified so that shows our birds are healthy and will continue to be healthy! Vaccines are to prevent illness to keep birds we all love healthy. Vaccines are not to hide illness as I am a vet tech and know more about vaccines then most! Also I want to add that my mom and I have worked our tails off and put so much time, energy, care, and money into making are breeding better and better. We not only breed our birds but we love them unconditionally. We will never claim others bloodline as ours. Also I want to add that buying a breeding pair of silkies from the same breeder and hatching chicks is NOT your bloodline that is the previous owners bloodline. Now if you were to take the rooster and breed it to your OWN hen then that is your bloodline. It’s sad to see “silkie breeder” not knowing the definition of what is and what isn’t your bloodline!

Stay humble everyone and remember to worry about you and your birds. We are all in this together, even if we do the same thing. I will always support a silkie sister and give credit and love where it is do.

Be kind to each other and let's make the world a better place one beautiful silkie at a time. ❤️

I think these three paints are silently judging me, well not so silently because all I hear is "peep peep, peep peep peep peep". Can anyone translate? I'm thinking they are gossiping on how they heard some birds down in the "dungeon "being tortured earlier. (5 grow outs awaiting going outside received the Mycoplasma vaccine today). I'm pretty sure their thought process is making bets on if they smell chicken tonight for dinner. 😂😂
