Will you help us spread this news? As a reminder, this event is not intended for the surrender of dogs, cats, rabbits, pigs, or chickens.

Exotic Pet Surrender Event on November 5th between 12 PM and 3 PM to the Carpenter Nature Center Wisconsin Campus.

In some areas, there are no rehoming options for exotic animals such as fish, birds, and reptiles. Some pet owners that are unable to care for their pet may think that releasing the animal is the right thing to do, however, releasing a pet is harmful for the animal and the environment.

This event brings together a collection of area rehoming partners that provide responsible alternatives to release for exotic pet owners who are no longer able to care for their pets. Area organizations will be accepting fish, invertebrates, reptiles, pet birds, small mammals, and plants — no questions asked.

Domestic pets, such as dogs, cats, rabbits, pigs, and chickens are not accepted. Owners of domestic animals should inquire with local pet shelters or rescues for options on rehoming their pets.

J&R Aquatic Animal Rescue (JRAAR) is hosting the event with help from several other area organizations including Carpenter Nature Center, and University of Wisconsin Sea Grant/Water Resources Institutes.

Fact: No breed is inherently aggressive. Pit bulls, like any dog, thrive on love and positive training, often making them loyal and gentle companions.
Myth: Pit Bulls Have Locking Jaws
Fact: There's no such thing as a "locking jaw." Pit bulls have strong jaws, like many other breeds, but they're also known for their loving, goofy smiles!
Myth: They're Not Good Family Dogs:
Fact: Pit bulls can be excellent family pets. Their affectionate nature often makes them great with children and passionate about their loved ones. As with any dog, it's important to always supervise children around dogs and to help children how to behave around dogs (or any pet!)
