Happy Graduation Day to our Good Dog Graduate, Pudge! 💜🎓

This pretty girl came to us with big dreams of becoming a Certified Therapy Dog! Pudge's mom works at the Ellsworth School District and wants her to come along to share the therapy love with her students!

Pudge is the second therapy dog we have worked with for the Ellsworth district. We were so excited to hear that they were working on having another therapy dog! 💕

Therapy dogs have to be 1 year old in order to test for certification through Therapy Dogs International (TDI). Pudge came in at around 11 months old, so Mom's focus was to round out some of her puppy behaviors and get her rock solid for the test.

One reason TDI waits until dogs are 1 year old is because that is usually smack dab in the middle of the teenage phase for dogs. That's when those puppies push those buttons to see what they can and can't get away with. Pudge is definitely in that phase, so we took this time to work through all of the buttons she decided to push and set her up for ultimate success.

Pudge did amazing. She's such a funny girl and just wants to do everything with ✨️flair✨️ 😂. We worked on sharpening up her indoor walking, making sure she was greeting people appropriately, and working through all of the therapy test items so she can ace the Therapy Dog International test we will host this summer!

We are so proud of all the hard work her Mom put into her training, and we know they are going to make an amazing therapy dog team, changing the lives of so many kids. 💜 We are so proud of them!

We can't wait to see you rock that test!

Congratulations, Pudge! 🥳

If you are ready to test your dog for the Therapy Dog International certification, shoot us a message! Our test is tentatively scheduled for July! We are filling spots quickly!

If you have interest in therapy dog training, give us a call at 715-629-7240 💕 We'd love to start you on your journey!

Happy Graduation Day to our newest Good Dog Graduates, Ravi! 🧡 🎓

Ravi's mom was looking for some help with her sensitive Plott Hound. Ravi had a hard time warming up to people, wasn't great at coming back when called, and had some very undesirable leash behaviors.

Ravi joined us for our Day Train program, and we got to work on building her confidence and addressing her over-the-top barking behaviors. She took a little while to build up some trust between us, but when she did, we could take on the world!

Advocating for Ravi was a big piece of the puzzle. She needed to trust that we had her best interests in mind. Even when we were touching those paws and working on some nail trimming. 🙃 We took things at her pace and listened to her needs while also showing her it wasn't the end of the world.

Being a Hound, we had to earn her trust. We took her on outings, and even if it was just us telling people that she didn't want to be petted, it made all the difference. She learned to trust. But don't be fooled, Mom was her #1 always. 🥰

We know Mom does everything she can to keep her baby safe, and Ravi will continue growing because of the love and hard work from her mom! 💕

We are very proud of how much she has opened up and learned to regulate her feelings. She's such a good girl. We are going to miss her 🧡

Up next: Summer fun really begins. Ravi's brother got to spend lots of time out having fun while Ravi was at school, so now she gets to join in on the fun! Excellent opportunities to keep progressing on all the hard work her Mom has put in 😊

Congratulations, Ravi 🥳

Understanding the E-Collar: A Workshop Webinar for exploring more when it comes to training your dog.

Hello, ! My name is Crystal, and I've been a full-time professional dog trainer for the last 17 years. Over the years, I've worked with countless dogs and their owners, and I've seen the evolution of training tools and techniques firsthand.

One tool that often sparks debate in the dog training community is the electronic collar, or e-collar.

When e-collars were first introduced, they were often referred to as "shock collars" due to their harsh and punitive nature.

They were crude devices that delivered a strong electric shock, and understandably, this led to a lot of misconceptions and fear surrounding their use.

Many still associate e-collars with punishment and pain, but I'm here to share a different perspective.

In my experience, an e-collar is just like any other tool—it can be used for good or bad, depending on the person operating it.

Modern e-collars have come a long way from their early counterparts. Today's e-collars are highly adjustable, with low-level stimulation and vibration options that can be used humanely and effectively.

However, I also understand that not every dog is a good candidate for e-collar training.

That's why I'm hosting a FREE Workshop Webinar:
Exploring E-Collar Training with Your Dog

This event is designed to give you an overview of how to use this equipment properly and help you decide if it's the right tool for you and your dog.

During the webinar, on 6.6.24 @ 6PM CST, we'll cover:

✅ The humane and correct utilization of remote collar training.

✅ The benefits of adjustable low-level settings and vibration functions.

✅ Techniques for ensuring off-leash dependability.

✅ Tips for making training an enjoyable process for both handler and dog.

✅ How to choose the right e-collar for you and your dog (hint: we lean towards vibration-based training).

We'll also have a Q&A session throughout the event, so you'll have plenty of opportunities to ask questions and get personalized advice.

By the end of the webinar, you should have a clear understanding of whether e-collar training is something you'd like to explore further with your dog.

It's important to remember that being in charge of such a powerful tool can be intimidating, but gaining the right knowledge and skills can make all the difference.

This webinar will focus on empowering you to use the e-collar confidently and effectively, ensuring that you and your dog can enjoy the freedom to explore the world safely together.

If you're interested in joining us, please message us for the link to register for this free event. We'd love to hear a bit about your dog and your training goals!

Want to get feedback on training sooner than this event on 6.6.24?

Give us a jingle! 715-629-7240

Thank you for being a part of this journey with us here at CCC Academy. Together, we can make training a positive and rewarding experience for both you and your furry friend.

Congratulations to our newest Good Dog Graduate, Allie! 🎓

Allie came from a tough past and thankfully found a forever home that wanted to help her life a full and happy life! Allie has such a SWEET personality, but came off very timid and had a hard time dealing with that sometimes.

Her dad wanted to help her be more comfortable in her own skin, not be rude to the company, and enjoy walks with her!

Allie joined our Day Train program a couple of times a week and absolutely flourished 🥰 she was very sensitive in the beginning, but as soon as she found her groove, she could take on almost anything!

Allie has become so confident and silly. She's still sensitive but does a much better job of coping through her feelings with Dad's help. She loves going on her adventures and acts like she owns the sidewalk walking so pretty 😂

It's been so beautiful to watch her connect with her dad. All Allie wants is to be lov she has found her human. It's been amazing to watch their journey together. We can't wait to see the cool things they are going to be able to do together.

Up jext: Allie is in full prep mode for her Canine Good Citizen! She has been nailing her practice test items, and we can't wait to get them officially certified as a Canine Good Citizen team. And who knows....maybe some therapy action down the line 😉

We sure are going to miss you, but we know you'll be around prepping for great things 🤩

Congratulations, Allie! 🥳

Congratulations to our Good Dog Graduate, Juniper! 🎓

Juniper's family came to us last fall to help with Juniper's feelings about other dogs when she was on leash. She was mostly fine off leash, but on leash, she was on the verge of some serious reactivity behaviors. She was a good girl most of the time. It was just that specific situation.

This reactivity was a result of some unintentionally deeprooted learned behaviors that her owners realized they needed more than a little help with. Juniper is a big girl! We were excited to help her feel better!

Juniper joined our Board and Train Program. We wanted to help her work through her feelings and help her connect better with her humans in what she deemed as uncomfortable situations.

Juniper was such a honey. We helped her figure out she had better options than just feeling gross all the time. Showing her appropriate ways to connect with her humans. Once she figured out the game, she became even sweeter ❤️

Her owners knew that it was going to be hard work but knew the reward was going to be just as sweet as Juniper is! It has been so heartwarming to watch Juniper be on high alert all the time, to happy prancing down the path with her dad ❤️

We are so proud of Juniper and her family! They have been hard at work getting Juniper out on those walks and setting her up for success! Keep up the amazing work!

Congratulations, Juniper 🥳

Congratulations to our Good Dog Graduate, Chewie! 🎓

Clearing up the lines of communication between dogs and their owners so the two may bring out the best in each other has always been the mission of Crystal Clear Canine Academy.

Chewie's mom came to us looking for help with her SPICY German Shepherd puppy. He was showing some concerning behavior for a young puppy, so she knew that she needed to get some help!

Chewie and his family joined us for our Board and Train Program. Our goals were to build his confidence, both in and out of the house, build a solid foundation for his manners, and prep Mom to be successful for his upcoming teenage phase.

Chewie was such a fun boy to work with. He wanted nothing more than to try his hardest and make you happy. He LOVES learning. He would show you over and OVER how good he is at his obedience commands. Never failed to try and be a good boy.

Him and his mom have been working very hard together and have grown so much. She never failed to show up for Chewie! It was so beautiful to watch their connection grow. We are so proud of them both for all of the effort put in to help Chewie be the best boy he can be.

Up next: Chewie has been continuing on his teenage journey! We get to see him and his mom for classes, and he's growing so much! Thankfully for Chewie, his older brother, Fenris, is joining the academy to help the house ALL be on the same page!

We are so excited to be a part of this journey with them!

Congratulations, Chewie! 🥳

Congratulations to our newest Good Dog Clan, Daisy, Bella, and Oliver ! 🎓

When we first met, the family’s goals were they just wanted Bella to be okay with her new sister Daisy! Then Oliver joined the clan, so we wanted them all to have a smooth transition and to be comfortable with the ever growing fur-family!

They all joined our Day Train Program with the goals for Daisy of being comfortable in her own skin, Bella, to contain uncontrollable excitement with the people she loves, and help Ollie not be such a teenage boy 🙄

Each of the pups were able to connect with their people so much better!

Daisy was able to learn that not everything was a life or death situation. She didn’t have to run and hide when scary things happened. She just wanted to be a sweet girl, so we helped her learn excellent coping skills for scary moments

Bella came out of her shell so much. And when I say shell- I mean shell of excitement 😂She always wanted to be the center of the party and could not handle not being the center of the love. She has learned lots of coping skills to help her manage her excitement. And as a Bonus - now she gets into the tub all on her own! 😉

Oliver joined just as he was welcomed into the family. It was the perfect way to help him have a smooth transition and allowed Bella some sanity with ANOTHER puppy being added to the house. 😂 He learned how to be more appropriate towards his sisters and respect their “I don’t wanna play with you” cues.

We are so proud of Bella, Oliver, and Daisy, and their family! Their their family has lots of options to help them when they are being too much and learned incredible skills for a lifetime of success with this crazy 3 dog household.

Keep up the amazing work! We're going to miss them so much 🥰

Congratulations, Bella, Daisy, and Oliver! 🥳

A dog you can't control on leash... That 💩 is B-A-N-A-N-A-S...

Your dog's eyes light up as you grab the leash...and you head out the door together.

Taking in a deep breath of fresh spring air, you are SO happy to feel the sunshine on your face.

⚠ SQUIRREL! 🐿

Your arm is immediately je**ed to full extension and you stumble to catch your footing, and fumble to re-position the death grip on your leash.

⚠ DOG!🐕

Your sweet, loving companion instantly acts a complete fool...

And it's embarrassing.

It's overwhelming!

Not to mention how frustrating it is not knowing HOW to tackle things and turn it around.

What do you do? Do you turn around and go back home? Do you avoid walks all together?

Do you bring treats along next time in an attempt to bribe your dog for their attention... that's what the YouTube videos showed...right??

Here's the deal: Feeding a hectic mind will only feed a hectic mind.

Focus on control FIRST.

Control is not achieved by just correcting your dog for unwanted behavior.

If you correct a dog without an effective communication plan put into place... your issues WILL get worse.

Control brings CALM.

Once you have calm & ONLY when you have calm...reward your dog for good decisions made.

We're opening up spots in our Jumpstart Program where we can get you a plan of action laid out to start implementing ASAP...

Become a part of a community of dog owners who are taking steps everyday in the right direction with their dogs.

You'll also be able to join us in person for controlled socialization with like-minded dog owners for a practical real-life application approach to training...

If you've made it this far and are still reading this... we'll even give you access to our portal to start training right now-for FREE... just shoot us a message, and get on our calendar for a complimentary consult call.

Reach out. Get help! Spring (and life) is too short to not ENJOY it with your dog!

Happy Graduation to our newest Good Dogs, Minnie and Mikko! 🎓

This puppy duo joined us to help be the best pups they can be. Their family wanted her to build confidence and learn appropriate home manners. With a new human on the way, we aimed to set these pups up for success!

Minnie joined us for our Day Train Program! We worked on her making more confident choices that didn't always lead to her showing off her cute belly. She loved working on her manners and just wanted to please. Mikko's focus to get some basic home structure set up so they can focus on hunting training with him in the future.

Now, with a new human in their home, Mikko and Minnie's family are putting all of our hard work into action. They're doing a great job of setting boundaries with them. They LOVE their new baby but are also appropriate and respectful with her.

They are silly little teenage pups, and we've loved their sweet demeanors through their program. We are so excited to have been a part of this journey with them! We are proud of them and their family and can't wait to watch them grow up!

Congratulations, Minnie and Mikko! 🥳

Congratulations to our newest Day Train Graduate, Homer! 🎓

Homer came to us as a sensitive silly boy needing some help gaining some confidence with strangers and working on some of his manners. He was also a punk with his older brother and sister. He needed some direction.

His family had goals of him being appropriate in public. His mom works at a vet clinic, and she wants him to join her!

Homer joined us for our Day Train Program. We took lots of time socializing him in new spaces and working on his connection with his humans when high-energy energy moments happen. He was always such a ham when working on his manners!

He has grown into such a well developed boy. As Rottweilers do, Homer still has his suspicious tendencies. He will have his protective moments, but he has come very far with working through his feelings. We are so proud of him.

Homer is now fully in his teenage phase. We have set a solid foundation, but he will act like he forgets anything he's learned at least once. What's nice - we have a game plan to help him follow through in a productive way to keep us moving towards his goals. Patience and consistency are key!

We are very proud of him and his family for all of the hard work they have been putting in. Homer is such a sweet boy, and he is going to be a very awesome dog! Especially for all those fosters 🥰

Congratulations, Homer! 🥳

It's Graduation Day for our newest official Good Girl, Myla! 🎓

Myla's family came to us shortly after they rescued her, looking for some help with Myla's sensitivities. She was very shy and easily startled by things in her environment. Her family wanted help so they could live a long, happy life with her!

Myla joined us for our Day Train program. Initially, we focused on building trust and confidence. Myla LOVED it... and connected so well with it... that she has started showing her true silly teenage personality 😂

Myla has been such a treat to have. It's been amazing to watch her grow... she was so shy and scared the first few weeks! Now we get to really enjoy her "very lucky she's cute" behaviors 😂 She became so confident that now she's pushing buttons, and we love that she has gained the confidence to do so. Now, we continue focusing on connecting with the spice and building a really cool relationship with her.

We are so proud of her and her family for all the hard work they have been putting in. The teenage phase is no joke, especially with a smart girl like Myla. But she just wants to please and be a good girl. She's been super fun to work with. We are excited for this next phase of her life!

Congratulations, Myla! 🥳

Congratulations to our Good Dog Board and Train Graduate, Duke! 🎓

Duke's family came to us looking for help with his teenage German Shepherd behaviors. He was struggling at the vet as well as being able to exist in his own home. He has two brothers whom we wanted him to be more appropriate with.

Duke joined us for our Board and Train program so we could get a solid start on his training and work hard on addressing his behaviors. We wanted to set him up for long-term success!

Duke learned excellent coping skills that allowed us to walk calmly in public, cope appropriately when he's not getting the attention he wants, and he had a successful visit to the vet! He's done so well!

He's had a successful transition home, and his brothers are glad he's home 😊 He's been settling in so well, even with his teenage flare-ups. We are so proud of Duke and his family! We can't wait to watch you continue to grow up.

Congratulations, Duke! 🥳

Congratulations to our Good Dog Board and Train Graduate, Enzo! 🎓

Enzo's family wanted some help with his larger-than-life personality. He is a very social boy but had a hard time focusing. He had no impulse control and used his body as a way to push for what he wanted, becoming a hazard to the family.

Enzo joined our Board and Train program, where our main focus was teaching him how to use appropriate coping outlets in times of high energy. Place, walking, and recall were high priorities.

During his stay, he learned how to cope appropriately while still maintaining his happy-go-lucky personality. He learned to choose us rather than reacting impulsively to everything he saw move.

He has made a wonderful transition home. While he still tests boundaries, he's making better choices every day. Teenage boys definitely make you work for it!

We are so proud of Enzo and his family. He has come a long way, and we look forward to watching him continue to grow.

Congratulations, Enzo! 🥳

Dogs think, and then they act. But sometimes, there isn't much thinking before acting...

Because SQUIRREL! ⚠ 🐿

This fuels a continuous cycle of feeding into every impulse to chase, explore and investigate EVERYTHING...

And it can get frustrating for all involved.

Barking at and jumping all over guests...

Pulling you down the sidewalk...

When your dog is obsessed with investigating everything... every dog, person and their uncle out for a walk is a target of your dog's unbridled enthusiasm.

They see you coming from a mile away... holding on for dear life and apologizing as you steer clear as best you can.

Wouldn't it be great if we could get a wedge in your dog's brain where they think a little more and react a little less impulsive?

We're hosting a FREE Workshop Webinar on 3/22:

Impulse Control: Getting Better Decisions from your Dog

During this free online event, We'll dive into some tips and tricks on how to get the momentum going in a better direction when it comes to the decisions your dog makes.

It's Graduation Day for our newest Good Dog Graduate, Ollie! 🎓

Ollie joined our Day Train Program to work on those spunky Corgi puppy behaviors. He was easily excited and had a hard time focusing in high-energy situations.

We took the time to focus on connecting with us. Building a routine of trust and fun! We went out to lots of social places and met lots of people! Ollie loves his kids. He also learned how to walk so handsomely with his adorable Corgi butt.

We are proud of how far he has come! In the first weeks, he had the hardest time relaxing when no one was paying attention to him. Now, his mom has excellent tools to help him work through his feelings, and he walks like such a handsome boy!

Up next: Ollie is still a teenager. We have built a solid routine for his success, and now it's time to start generalizing that routine to new places! He's come a long way, and we are excited to watch his continued progress!

Congratulations, Ollie 🥳

Congratulations to our Newest Good Dog Graduate, Nova! 🎓

Nova's family came to us looking for help working through her Husky excitement and ensuring that she had a solid recall for her safety.

Nova joined our Day Train Immersion Program. We focused on teaching her appropriate relaxation tools and connecting with us when she's in high distraction situations.

Nova and her family have learned some awesome tools to help her live a long, happy life. Her family is able to have company over, and they have an effective plan to help her work through her feelings. She's getting more and more reliable on her recall by the day!

We are so proud of them! Nova has been such a goofy girl to work with, and we are going to miss her sweet face. ❤️

Up next: keeping up those repetitions! Generalization is key. Spring is right around the corner. The smells and yummy dead things are going to be excellent distractions to help that recall become rock solid!

Congratulations to our Good Dog Day Train Graduates, Ollie and Jax! 🎓

Jax, a recent addition to the family, was eager to engage with new people, making socialization his main focus alongside typical puppy behaviors. Meanwhile, Ollie, though doing well with the puppy, needed some behavior work to prevent him from imparting any poor habits onto Jax.

Both Ollie and Jax participated in our Day Train program, where we focused on improving Ollie's coping mechanisms for separation anxiety and guiding Jax in appropriate socialization.

We're thrilled with the progress both boys have made! Ollie, we're proud of your newfound coping skills beyond constantly seeking attention from your humans. And Jax, you're growing into an amazing dog, winning over everyone you meet. 😂

It's been a pleasure working with this family, equipping them with valuable tools for ensuring Ollie and Jax lead happy, successful lives together ❤️

Next on the agenda: Preparing for social outings. The family's goal is to take them camping and include them in other social activities. With patio season approaching, it's time to establish a routine for enjoyable outings for everyone 😊

Congratulations, Ollie and Jax! 🥳

We had a Good Dog Graduation on Monday for Miss Piper! 🎓 Piper came to us with a tragic story.

She was adopted with not a ton of information about her past. Her behavior reflected as if she was a stray and the rescue that took her in recommended that she be euthanized.

Piper's family refused to let that happen. They were determined to do everything they could to be her forever home.

That's when they found us.

Piper had a very spicy personality. High energy to the point she couldn't get out of her own head. No impulse control.

She had resource guarding concerns, especially with other dog, and loved to use her mouth to get what she wanted.

Piper joined us in our Day Train Program once a week.

Our goal was to work on her energy threshold and help her better connect with her...without using her teeth or her bark.

Piper is so smart. She just wants to be the best girl in the world but offered everything all at once and got frustrated when it didn't work.

It was awesome to see her brain work. She loves having a job, and was very eager to learn.

Her family has learned how to help her make better decisions, how to communicate with her in a way she understands and connects with, and she has turned into a very good girl.

We are so proud of her and her family and can't wait to see how much she grows... she has found a really amazing furever home 🐾💖🏠

Congratulations Piper! 🎉

Tips on Potty Training a Puppy... Because house training doesn't always go so smoothly.

I (Crystal) have been a full time professional dog trainer for 17 years...

But I have been a Chihuahua puppy owner for almost 4 months.

Small dogs are notoriously hard to house train because let's be real...

If a Chihuahua p**ps on your floor you are like 😥

But if a Great Dane p**ps on your floor... you're like 🤯 🙅‍♀️🆘️

It's easier to dismiss the occasional accident with little dogs.

And it's WINTER IN WISCONSIN 🥶

A Husky puppy is going to potty outside easier than my little Chihuahua, and that means more problem solving for me.

And I'm on vacation in Mexico right now, leaving the house training routine I've been successful with so far with my own puppy up to my staff (shout out to Colleen Van Deurzen for being my right hand gal)

So I know the change in routine will require adjustments and problem solving once I return because he is always with me...

And him not being the center of the universe likely has him all out of sorts 😆

It's about PROGRESS, not perfection!

So, if you are having your own unique potty training dilemma... know you're not alone!

Even the pros have to work at it.

And if you want someone in your corner to help you problem solve, we're just a message away from being introduced to each other.

And we have a FREE House Training Guide if you want it... just shoot a p**p emoji in the comments (where you will find the housetraining tips I'm teasing you with) and we'll send it your way.

Happy Good Dog Day Train Graduation to Casper! 🎓

Casper's mom has been part of the CCC Academy Family for a few years. During a difficult transition period, Casper came to his family and at just the right time. His mom wanted the best life for Casper, and we were happy to help.

Casper joined us for our Day Train program. His mom wanted to work on his recall, obedience, and tools to help him relax when he needed it. His mom just wanted a well-rounded good boy.

We worked on his obedience, his communication with Mom, and his teenage boy behaviors. He loved to work with us. Recall games outside were his absolute favorite! We loved watching his zoomies!

We are so proud of Casper and his Mom. He filled his home with so much love and is growing up to be a very good boy! They are going to have lots of good memories together. 🥰

Up Next: Mom is transitioning into going into the office, and so our focus is making the transition from being at home all the time to spending a little more time alone and being okay with it. One day at a time.

Congratulations, Casper! 🥳

Tucker came to us with typical teenage puppy behaviors. He was highly energetic, had a hard time walking and coming when called.

Tucker has been such a treat to have with us these last few weeks. He has grown up a lot and loves showing off how handsome he is.

We loved having him and are so proud of what a good boy he’s become. We are excited to watch him continue to grow and watch his family use these awesome tools that they have learned!
