We’d like to make a special announcement ! We have a new alternative for animals that have foreign bodies in their stomach! We can do endoscopy to remove many objects in the stomach or esophagus instead of more invasive surgery. We just didn’t plan on Dr. Kuehn’s dog being our first foreign body to be removed! 🙀

Happy Fourth of July everyone. Hope everyone has a fun and safe holiday with family and friends. 🎆

Please keep in mind that July 4th has the highest rates of lost pets.

•take your pets for a long walk before the fireworks begin
•keep pets away from fireworks. So they don’t get burned.
•if taking a pet to an event, please make sure your pet is wearing his collar with ID tags w/name and contact info.
•avoid loud and crowded firework events , most dogs do not find this fun.
•leave pet indoors with a good frozen treat, toy , maybe calming music or fan to draw out the firework sounds. Keep windows closed.
•if home be cautious when opening doors so pets do not escape.

It’s summer!! So tis the season of grilling!!
Everyone loves a good BbQ , especially your pets! Things to also keep in mind that are not mentioned in the photo above.👆

•keep pets away from corn cobs! It’s a surgery waiting to happen.
*if your pet seems overwhelmed by your guest, have a safe and quiet area for them to retreat to.
•when grilling, keep your pet away from the fire,smoke and cooking grease.
•keep the charcoal , matches and lighter fluid away from the Paws
•metal grill brushes.
• make sure gates and doors are closed so pets can not run away and always keep the children supervised ( they love to feed their best friends) ☺️

Most importantly enjoy your Summer and Bbq☀️

We have received many questions over the past few days about the new canine respiratory disease that originated in Oregon and is spreading across the US. Our doctors have been aware of it for a few weeks now, but thankfully we have not seen any suspected cases at our clinic as of now.

However, with upcoming holiday travel, we suspect cases may increase. As usual, we recommend bringing your dog in with any coughing, sneezing, or difficulty breathing, especially if it is after boarding. We also will be more likely to recommend more extensive diagnostics such as respiratory PCR panels and chest X-rays if we have a suspected case. It is also recommended to make sure your pets’ vaccines are up to date - especially bordetella and influenza.

We will keep you updated as we know more - thank you for entrusting us with your pets care!

The Oregon Department of Agriculture has received more than 200 case reports from veterinarians of a mysterious canine infectious respiratory disease since the middle of August.
