Dr H: "Say hello to my little friend!" Something jumped onto my arm as I typed records this afternoon. Assuming it was a spider, I was stunned to see a TICK!!! Where did it come from? We had a patient mid-morning who needed a tick removed & I had walked past him. Another tick must have jumped onto my PPE gown, then took hours to crawl up to my arm. If you're outside this weekend, CHECK YOURSELF. If your dog or cat is not on flea/tick control, call & we'll set you up. #TICKS: our friend Lola brought a pal home from her weekend in Wisconsin. This little sucker was hiding in the folds of her ear, but had not yet taken a blood meal. #Prevention is easy. Don't risk #Lyme! Use monthly preventative. When you're spending time in nature, check your pets & yourself DAILY for ticks. Concerned about tick exposure? #ChristmasMiracle update: Pepper's protesting captivity & feeling feisty. We're hopeful she'll stay strong. While her white blood cell count has dropped, it's not as low as we would have expected today, so we're encouraged. We will continue to check her WBC daily through Monday.
