❤️Wishful Wednesday❤️
HELP US SAVE MORE LIVES! We MUST have the funding and fosters necessary to save more dogs from euthanasia. With the current animal crisis, we are seeing less adoptions, which means dogs are staying in rescue longer which equates to more expense per dog. This also means we must have committed FOSTERS. Short term fosters just are not an option. Help get those funds in place! We have a $5400 goal! We recently took in 2 neglect cases, that both need multiple surgeries before they are able to be adopted out, not to mention their severe upper respiratory infections we had to treat first.

We also still have dogs & pups in our program that require training, food and maintenance.
Help us GIVE THE NEEDED CARE, REHAB & TRAINING TO THE DOGS IN OUR PROGRAM TO MAKE SUCCESSFUL TRANSITIONS INTO THEIR NEW FOREVER HOMES AND CONTINUE TO SAVE MORE LIVES.
❤️❤️DONATE TODAY❤️❤️
The amount of rescues that are closing due to the lack of success raising funds, lack of volunteers willing to foster or help and slow adoptions has been increasing every month. Each rescue we take in needs treatment for any past trauma or upper respiratory infections, often causing immediate veterinary care. We take pride in training each of our fosters to the best of their ability while in our care.

We are a 501c3 nonprofit rescue, 100% volunteer based and 100% foster based. (As are most rescues).
Like most rescues, we are FULL. Meaning we do not have the needed funds and volunteer fosters to rescue anymore dogs. However, it doesn’t stop the nonstop requests from owners who cannot keep their dogs, shelters, euthanasia lists and networkers all begging for us to rescue and save more.

01/27/2025

Crate training a dog is important for several reasons, as it benefits both the dog and the owner when done correctly. Here are the key reasons:

1. Provides a Safe Space
• Dogs are den animals by nature, and a crate can serve as a safe, comfortable retreat where they can rest or feel secure.
• It helps reduce anxiety during stressful situations, such as loud noises, visitors, or travel.

2. Helps with House Training
• Dogs instinctively avoid soiling their sleeping area, so a properly-sized crate can aid in teaching bladder and bowel control.
• It establishes a routine and helps puppies learn when and where to relieve themselves.

3. Prevents Destructive Behavior
• A crate keeps your dog safely contained when unsupervised, preventing them from chewing furniture, wires, or other harmful items.

4. Facilitates Travel and Vet Visits
• Crate training makes it easier and safer to transport your dog in a car, plane, or other vehicles.
• Many vet clinics or boarding facilities use crates, so your dog will feel more comfortable in these environments if already crate-trained.

5. Promotes Independence
• A crate teaches your dog to be comfortable being alone and doing nothing for short periods, reducing separation anxiety. With working dogs, teaching them it is ok to do nothing is extremely important.

6. Supports Recovery After Surgery or Injury
• A crate can help restrict movement, which is often necessary for recovery after medical procedures.

7. Useful for Emergency Situations
• In emergencies (e.g., natural disasters or evacuations), a crate can keep your dog safe and secure in unfamiliar or chaotic environments. With the recent CA Wildfires, it is a grave reminder that you need to be ready at a moments notice. It is not the time to be fighting with your dog to get them in a crate.

When done properly, crate training can be a valuable tool for fostering a happy, well-adjusted dog.

Matchmaker Monday ❤

As a rescue partner with several shelters in the Inland Empire, Delta Force Animal Mission works to identify and pull dogs from euthanasia lists throughout SoCal. Unfortunately, we are highly limited in how many dogs we can pull at a given time. We are a 100% volunteer-based rescue, and every dog that we pull needs somewhere to go. Without our amazing network of fosters and adopters who are willing to take in these dogs, we would have no space to accommodate the animals we rescue.

The dogs we pull are generally working breeds with specific needs that many people are unprepared to fulfill. We seek out fosters and adopters with experience handling these breeds and their needs, as well as those who are willing to learn to work with them and give them the training they need for ongoing success. We provide resources and offer free training from the highly qualified trainers at IHeartK9 for all fosters and adopters to help you succeed!

If you feel that you would be up to the task of fostering a rescue dog with Delta Force, please visit the link in our bio and fill out our Foster Application. For every approved foster in our network, we have the availability to save another dog from euthanasia. We could not do this without all of you on our team!

⭐️PUPDATE⭐️ Our sweet River is living her best life on the East Coast in NH. Not only is she a best friend and companion, but she is now also a service dog.

River was being surrendered to the animal shelter with her 5 day old litter of puppies and the father of the litter. The ACO jumped into action to find a safe landing for River and her pups. We stepped up! Her litter was the gorgeous Aquatic Litter.

At first, River was a very anxious Mal that would jump all over you. Scared of her own shadow, but extremely kind, affectionate and intelligent. After weaning her pups, we jumped into training and socializing. She thrived and caught onto everything quickly and literally became a confident and willing dog, always eager to learn and very social. We furthered her training in preparation for service work. Training her in public places, how to lay under the table at restaurants, ride escalators, elevators, flights of stairs, stores and more!

River now keeps her mom safe by alerting her mom to a change in her vitals, letting her know she may pass out. This allows her mom to get into a safe position to avoid injury. River is then trained to lay across her.

We are so proud of River and miss her greatly! She is a beautiful, amazing kind, loving and goofy girl ❤️

01/20/2025

Bite?!?! Working and training a dog in bitework is a controversial subject that warrants a nuanced exploration. While many may view this as inherently dangerous or unethical, that type of thinking is not thought through. All dogs, no matter the breed, already know “how” to bite. It’s their natural instinct. Your not “training” them to bite….So, what is it?

There are scenarios where teaching a dog to bite in a controlled and responsible manner can serve practical and beneficial purposes.

1. Protection and Security: In specific situations, teaching a dog to bite is necessary to fulfill its role as a protection or security animal. Guard dogs and police dogs, for instance, are trained to bite on command to neutralize threats. This training is not random or reckless but is executed under strict guidelines to ensure the dog acts appropriately and disengages when commanded.

2. Controlled Behavior vs. Natural Instinct: Dogs inherently possess biting instincts, especially in stressful situations. Untrained dogs may bite expectedly, unpredictably or out of fear. Teaching a dog to bite in a structured environment ensures it understands when biting is acceptable and when it is not, reducing the risk of unprovoked attacks. For high drive dogs it provides a wonderful outlet for their physical and mental needs.

3. Enhanced Bond and Trust: Training, including bite work, fosters a strong bond between the handler and the dog. It builds trust and reinforces obedience. A dog trained to bite only on command demonstrates a higher level of discipline and trust in its handler compared to an untrained one.

4. Specialized Roles in Society: Certain roles require dogs to bite as part of their duties. Examples include military dogs apprehending criminals, search-and-rescue dogs assisting in disaster scenarios where controlled force is necessary, and herding dogs managing livestock. These are specialized, purposeful uses of a dog’s abilities that benefit society as a whole.

5. Ethical Responsibility: Proper bite training emphasizes control, restraint, and safety. Without structured training, dogs may resort to biting in fear or confusion. Teaching them how and when to bite under professional supervision ensures the behavior is applied responsibly.

However, teaching a dog to bite must always come with significant ethical considerations. It should only be done for justified purposes by qualified professionals, ensuring the safety of both the animal and the community. When handled responsibly, bite training can transform a dog’s natural instinct into a controlled skill that serves human needs while maintaining the dog’s well-being.

At DFAM, there’s nothing we love more than seeing updates from pups living their best lives! Meet Jeanie, a sweet soul who came from the Moreno Valley Animal Shelter.

Back in August 2023, we were sitting outside the shelter, desperately searching for someone to adopt her. For weeks, we had been taking photos, networking tirelessly, and sharing her story everywhere we could. Despite our efforts, time was running out. Being told a dog has only until the end of the day to find a home or face euthanasia is absolutely heartbreaking.

Then, in what felt like the final hour, we got a call. We got a text! A man was on his way to save her! Jeanie was going to be safe. That moment was overwhelming, and I remember driving home in tears, knowing that she would never have to sleep on cold concrete again.

Now, here she is, living her best life with a family who adores her.

Our dedication to these incredible animals is unstoppable, and Jeanie’s story is a reminder of why we do what we do. Every effort counts, and every life saved matters.

Do you want to be part of our team?
We are in need of Volunteers.
In our Bio/About section you can find Volunteer application!
You can find more dogs like Jeanie available for adoption!
