One more week till Valentine's Day! You still have time to get a heart for one of these four legged sweethearts. For $5 we will hang a heart with your name or maybe your fur baby's name on one of the kennels and we'll keep it up till the end of February. You can call or drop by during our open hours Tuesday Friday 12pm-5pm or Saturday 10am-1pm. We would love to see each of these angels with multiple Valentine's ❤️

It isn’t often that I go to the animal shelter to take photos and get hit emotionally with how sweet each dog is, today was one of those days so I wanted to start with the sweetest first.  I often go in when not a lot of people are around not even the employees.

So I’m doing a lot of “who’s there new guess work.” I almost overlooked this girl. She was sitting quietly, not barking and not making a lot of big movements, just softly wagging her tail

When I went over to her and read her sign, I was shocked. It said “mama dog” anyone who’s been following along knows exactly who this is. She is the dog that was left with the kennel of puppies on the very cold morning. She did her duty and stayed there protecting them. She has kind eyes that note that she is older than I expected.

As a volunteer, I don’t know what breed she is , she has longer hair than I thought she would based off of the cell phone picture that we first got.

I can say that she may be the sweetest soul I’ve encountered at paws in the many years that I’ve been going there. She was unfailingly polite and had a hard time wanting to go in her kennel again after photos, asking to stay with us.

She has quite the story to tell, and she carried herself with grace. I hope that she goes to a home with a warm heart very soon.

I also know that many people have inquired about the puppies. They went to Animal Adoption Center where they had more room for them at the time. Watch their page for when they will be put up for adoption. ~Volunteer photographer.

One more event for Valentine's Day. Our very own Nita Kehoe will be doing a glaze party. She will have these cute pottery hearts that you can come and glaze. Cupid will be visiting us on Valentine's Day! Of course this Cupid comes with four legs and a tail so it's ten times better. For $5 you can get a kiss and a picture with Cupid. We will be at the chamber of commerce on February 14th and 15th from 12pm-4pm. We hope to see you there!

Along with our new board officers we want to introduce our new board members Kaia and Nita, we look forward to their added help to the board. Pamela is staying as a board member, which we are super happy about. And Karla is our amazing city liaison.

We still have a few kennels available if you would like to sponsor. It's $100 for a cat kennel and $300 for a dog kennel. Your sign will stay up for a year. You can call us or swing by during our open hours. Or send us a message.

The puppy train continues with this ADORABLE little girl. If I was you I’d race down to the shelter and put in an application for this heeler. She’s about 3.5 months old and a doll. (We open at noon.)

Dear Penny, we aren’t sure why Penny gets over looked. She has a lot of energy that will be tough to match with another dog, however, she’s a sweet girl who’s Honor Farm trained. We will get more photos of her and try to show her personality better. But this girl is well behaved is amazing on leash, house trained, knows basic commands and has been here too long. Let’s find her a home!

Moose is still here and we’d love to feature him. Like many hounds Moose seems undaunted at shorter fences and would love to go on a jaunt. HOWEVER that seems to be his one negative. He gets along with other dogs and loves people. Come meet Moose today and see if he could be your hiking partner or fit in with your hound pack.
