Jan Perkins graduated from BYU with a bachelor’s degree in Animal Science. After working with a Veterinarian in Orem for 3 years, she moved to So. California and started Live Oak Dog Obedience in 1980, working with clients and veterinarians throughout the Los Angeles area. In 1995 Jan moved to Salt Lake City, Utah and started Live Oak Dog Obedience/Utah. Jan is also certified with the American Ke

nnel Club as a CGC instructor and conducts tests throughout the year. Live Oak Dog Obedience, LLC has been operating in Utah since 1996 and is an established local business. Jan has year round dog training classes in Bluffdale, Including indoor classes for the winter months in our heated indoor barn. She also has private dog lessons. Available classes and training sessions in Salt lake include: Puppy Pre-School, Beginner-Novice, Intermediate, Advanced and also special certifications for Service and Therapy dogs. Agility, rally and scent training also available. Private classes around the Salt Lake valley and neighboring locations are also available.

Linda and Joey started trining with Live Oak Dog Obedience for about 8 years. I asked her once why do you keep training with us she said “you never stop teaching us something new”. Linda and Joey have taken advantage of all the classes we offer excelling in all of them and even competing in many of them. Even though Joey is 8 years old now she is constantly challenging him to learn more and staying in shape, keeping his brain alert and active. Client of the month. Marie started Maggie about 4 years ago when Maggie was about 5 months old. I’ll never forget meeting Maggie for the first time, she was WILD! Maggie would bark, whine, pull and jump all over Marie, showing aggression to other dogs dragging her erratically around the class I am very proud of Marie for never giving up. After a lot of work Maggie is now in the Advance Class and she is able to do downstays, working along side of other dogs in the class, and working off leash work. Maggie still has a lot of energy but now it is aimed to pleasing Marie. Thank you Marie for training with Live Oak Dog Obedience

Thanks for teaching us how to search! I had a preschooler disappear after music class in my house yesterday. None of the moms saw him outside so we determined he was still inside. I gave Archie a shoe and put some treats in my pocket and told them to search. He knew he had a job and started sniffing right away. We went into my bedroom where the mom thought he wanted to go and started doing a deeper search. Archie could smell him in my closet and once I knew that he was in there I let Archie signal that he’d found him And gave him the treats. So he didn’t find him on his own 100%. But he understood the assignment’s. 😁🍞🐶 I’m so happy I have a dog who’s smart because we’ve trained so hard. It’s all thanks to your great classes. You’re the best!! The Story of Live Oak Dog Obedience Utah, LLC

Kelsey Larsen, Jan’s daughter, has joined her to train in the Agility Classes. Kelsey has worked with her mom with training dogs and horses for the last 10 years. Kelsey is also an accomplished horse trainer and has her own business JK Farms. Live Oak Dog Obedience, LLC has been operating in Utah since 1996 and is an established local business. Jan has year round dog training classes in Salt Lake City and surrounding areas. Including indoor classes for the winter months. Most classes accommodate for work schedules. She also has private dog lessons. Most indoor classes are given at Dimple Dell Rec Center in Sandy and So Jordan Rec. Center and various other locations to practice manners and the skills learned in class. Personalized attention and individual guidance is given in all classes. Available classes and training sessions in Salt Lake area include: Puppy Class, Beginner-Novice, Intermediate, Advanced, Tracking and Air Scenting Classes and Agility classes for all levels. Jan also trains dogs for Service and ESA certifications and prepares dogs for Therapy work.

Jan is a Behavioral Specialists helping clients to correct behaviors such as barking, not coming when called, aggressiveness, all puppy issues and all other problems that you might encounter.

During the summer Live Oak Dog Obedience also offers Rattlesnake Avoidance with Web Parton in the summer. Many other activities such as hikes and going out to eat and shopping trips are also offered for those who would like to practice dog manners and skills. Private classes around the Salt Lake valley and neighboring locations are also available.
