Bringing a new dog home? 🐶 Adjusting to a new environment can be tough for dogs, but with patience, understanding, and a bit of guidance, you can help make this transition smoother.

Dogs often go through what’s known as the “3-3-3” adjustment period: ➡️First 3 days: They might feel overwhelmed, acting hyper, extra-curious, or clingy. Some may even appear unusually calm. ➡️ First 3 weeks: As they start to settle, they’ll test boundaries, showing shifts in energy and behavior. You might notice them becoming more independent or seeking more attention. ➡️ First 3 months: By this time, your dog will likely feel comfortable, revealing their true personality and preferences for people, activities, and even favorite toys or treats.

Remember, every dog adjusts at their own pace, and some may not follow this guideline exactly. Your patience and care will go a long way in helping them feel safe and loved in their new home. 💗

If your dog is showing signs of stress, it’s okay! They may need more time and reassurance as they figure out what makes them feel secure. Whether they need more exercise, extra snuggles, or more space, being flexible with their needs is key. 🐕

Give them time, and soon enough, they’ll be wagging their tails, feeling at home, and showing you their most confident selves.

Once they've been settled in their new home for at least two weeks, bring them to Camp for an interview! We're here to fulfill all your pup’s socialization and exercise needs!

Meet Hans, a loyal companion to his family and one handsome pup. Unfortunately, he was diagnosed with a perilous salivary gland condition, causing a strange growth and major discomfort. Jake C., Drax, Winston Miller, Wrenley Tucker, and Jake D. all enjoyed the extra time with their counselor and the many toys they could choose to play with! From tennis balls to stuffed toys to even a beach ball, these campers had a blast! ☀️

When Eva arrived at the care of Paws Humane, their rescue team quickly found Eva had an old fracture in her elbow and was unable to use her affected leg. To relieve her pain she required amputation. The Bow Wow Buddies Foundation was able to provide a medical grant for Eva’s medical care and we are so happy to see she’s healed up well and continues to be her happy and loving self. 💛

Today our campers enjoyed all the fun of having a picnic while also finding all the things they needed for the picnic in our ball pit! 🥪🍕🥦🌽
Florida’s Heat definitely lead many of our kiddos to the indside to cool off, so Indoor/Outdoor picnic it shall be! ❤️🐾

There *is* some truth to the belief that dogs are a good judge of character. Research has shown through their keen sense of smell and skilled read on human body language and cues, dogs will sometimes use that information to form an opinion of a person. A dog's sense of smell is 1000 times stronger than humans. These heightened senses allow dogs to smell the pheromones that evoke the human mood which also helps dogs pick up good and bad behaviors of a human.

Cuddle buddies!! 🐾🥰

Snuggle time allows campers to wind down from all the fun play of the yards and encourages various forms of sensory enrichment. Today, campers Sir Oliver, Snickers, TJ, and Chewy enjoyed nestling in comfy blankets, tactile interaction, scent exploration, and the sounds of novel toys. Be sure to ask our front desk staff of the daily enrichment activity at your next visit!
