What is a Meet and Greet ?🤝🐾
A Meet and Greet is an initial appointment between a pet sitter and a potential client, typically held at the client’s home. This visit is designed to allow the pet sitter to meet the pet, understand the pet’s routine and needs, and discuss care arrangements directly with the client.
Why Meet and Greets Are Important for Pet Sitting:
1. Builds Trust and Comfort🐾
Meeting face-to-face reassures the client and helps them feel confident about leaving their pet in your care. It also allows you to demonstrate your experience, approachability, and love for animals.
2. Helps Understand the Pet’s Personality🐾
Every pet is unique, so observing their behavior in their home environment can give you valuable insights into their personality, energy levels, and specific needs. For instance, you’ll get a sense of whether they’re shy, playful, or have particular quirks.
3. Gathers Essential Information🐾
The Meet and Greet is a time to go over feeding, walking, exercise, medication, emergency contacts, the preferred veterinarian, and any behavioral triggers or health concerns to watch out for.
4. Familiarizes the sitter with the Home
Setup🐾
Since the sitter will be be caring for the pet at the client’s home, this meeting lets us see where essentials like food, treats, and leashes are kept. It also helps understand access points, door codes, and any security system you may need to navigate.
5. Sets Expectations and Agreements🐾
During the Meet and Greet, we discuss and confirm the specifics of services—like the number of visits, duration, and any additional tasks. It’s an opportunity to set boundaries, answer questions, and establish a clear care plan.
_______________________________
A successful Meet and Greet builds a strong foundation for both the pet and the client, ensuring everyone is comfortable and aligned on expectations. It also shows the client that their pet’s well-being and comfort are your top priority!🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾
For Wags and Whiskers Pet Care, the process of onboarding a new client for pet sitting involves a two-step approach:
1. Initial Phone Consultation (30 Minutes)
The first step is a phone call with the client.
During this call, you’ll:
• Discuss Dates and Services: Determine the specific dates the client needs pet care and which services they’re interested in (e.g., daily visits, overnight stays, walking).
• Gather Basic Information About the Pet: Learn about the pet’s breed, age, health, and temperament, as well as any special needs.
• Answer Initial Questions: The client may have questions about your experience, qualifications, and the services offered.
• Assess Compatibility: Ensure that the client’s needs align with what Wags and Whiskers Pet Care can provide.
If the phone call goes well and the client would like to proceed, you then schedule a free Meet and Greet at the client’s home.
2. Free Meet and Greet Consultations
(30 to 60 Minutes)
This two-step process ensures that Wags and Whiskers can confidently meet the needs of both the client and their pet, building a foundation of trust before any care begins. This approach also helps the client feel secure, knowing that every detail has been covered and their pet is in good hands.
