Village of Riverwoods

Riverwoods is a unique community in the Chicago North Shore area that was originally conceived to allow residents to live among the trees. Incorporated in 1959 from property originally part of the Ryerson Estate, Riverwoods carries on Edward Ryerson's tradition of living in harmony with the environment. n, retail and business amenities of the North Shore but provides a quiet and natural respite from traditional suburban living. Many properties within the village are large heavily wooded lots accessible from private roads where some residents are able to house horses. We are a small community of about 3500 residents and share public services with neighboring villages such as Deerfield, Lincolnshire, Bannockburn and Northbrook. The village is managed by a Mayor and a Board of Trustees. The village also has it own Police Department to service the community.
