This week, we got word that another local animal welfare organization had 5 goats, two of which were brand new babies, that needed to be picked up. We were happy to take them off their hands and give them a new home. Now, they're settling into AoA's Harmony Farm Sanctuary where they will spend their days warm, safe, and well-loved! Just look at these sweet faces!

It's been a busy day already after taking in 19 cats from Bedford! Thank you to Friends of Bedford County Animal Shelter, Inc. for reaching out to us and helping these little guys get a second chance. While these cats get examined, spayed/neutered and settled in over the next few days, we would love to make as much room here for them as possible. If you've been thinking about adopting a feline friend, now's the time! Come to our Adoption Event this Saturday from 1-4pm at AoA and take a kitty home! All adult cats will be $20.

Come meet adoptable Lisa at Kitty City Cat Cafe this Sunday from 12-3PM for their Kitty City 200th Cativersary & Adoption Event!
Last April, Lisa was dropped off at AoA in a container with her kittens. While all her kittens were adopted, Lisa remained at the shelter until heading over to Kitty City. She's a beautiful 3-year-old who's often overlooked because of the time it takes for her to come out of her hiding spots. Once she's warmed up, she's playful, loves other cats, and enjoys getting pets from her chosen people. Stop by Kitty City Cat Cafe on Sunday to spend some time with Lisa!

Veterinary laser therapy is a treatment which uses light waves to stimulate and activate cells to promote growth and repair. Most sessions are 15 to 30 minutes and entail moving a handheld laser wand slowly over a damaged area. The light then penetrates into the tissue and causes increased blood flow, which jump starts the cells to heal. J***s here has been getting laser therapy on a paw wound and has been progressing well over the last couple months! She also loves all the attention she gets during her sessions. 🥰

Daisy and Princess are a bonded pair that have been with us since October, after their owner was no longer able to care for them. These two are used to living in a house, are well-trained, playful, and enjoy snuggling. While we love having their sweet personalities here, we hope to find them a loving family and home to spend the rest of their years. Daisy is around 4.5 years old while Princess is a little over 14 years old. Being a bonded duo, with one of them being senior, the odds at adoption are stacked against them. 🏡 update from Mozzarella's new family!
"This is Mozzarella but we are calling him 'Motsy' for short. My first boy kitty in decades! We adopted him from Angels of Assisi through the Kitty City Cat Cafe. He is making himself at home and loves all the cuddles. Richie, our other cat, is tolerating him now 😂 and we think she will become a little more motherly soon enough!"

Over 30 dogs and cats headed off to their forever homes this past week! Our little handsome Hanson quickly went home after his WDBJ7 7atfour debut, Rooter went home with a sweet family and kids to play with, and we even had a couple dogs reunite with their original owners. Congrats to all the families and thank you to choosing to adopt! 🏡

Meet Zuko! Yes, Zuko is a handsome prince but he's also as sweet and playful as they get! At just 1-year-old, we're unsure of this mastiff mix's previous life but we do know the rest of his journey is bright. Zuko is looking for a family who will play with him, love him, and give him all the attention he deserves.

Party and her kittens have found a foster home! The rest of the New Year's Eve rescue cats have now been examined, vaccinated, and are ready for adoption! We are hoping to find their new families quickly so they can start their new year off right. *Update: Foster Found!*
The 27 cats rescued on New Year's Eve quickly became 31 once Party gave birth shortly after arriving to AoA. Her and her four kittens are looking for a foster for 8 weeks where they can have a quiet and warm space. Party is doing a great job taking care of her babies right now, but we are looking for a foster who would be willing to care for the babies, like bottle-feeding, if need be.
