Mickey is a neutered male border collie/corgi who turned 3 this summer. He’s medium size, between 45-50lbs.
He is a medical alert & psychiatric service dog, who was previously matched, but in recent months his former match’s mobility has completely changed & they now need a mobility dog.
Mickey has been alerting to migraines, seizures, low blood sugar, heart rate, panic attacks, & passing out, consistently for 2.5 years.
His other tasks include:
- Finding help (specific person(s)) or leading you to help in emergencies
- Calling 911 in emergencies by pressing a button in the house
- Retrieving dropped items, items off of a table or shelf, & specific items: medicine bag, drink, & phone
- Opening/closing doors, drawers, cabinets, & fridge
- Pressing public accessibility buttons
- Deep pressure therapy
- Crowd control
- Cover/Block
- Responding to anxiety, panic attacks & crying
- Interrupting harmful behaviors

I would love for him to go to a home where he can continue service work, but it will absolutely have to be the perfect person. There is an application to fill out for him, & if we think you’re a good match, there will be an interview (in person or virtually if you’re out of state). Lastly, team training will be required.

Besides service work, Mickey would excel at sports, entertainment (he loves tricks), rally, & competitive obedience! His advanced obedience is beautiful, he mirrors my movement so well without me giving any commands. He knows hand signals as well. He has endless drive & tries so hard to do anything to please you. He’s off leash trained & has an excellent recall. Wonderful manners in public. Such a sweetheart who is super velcro to his person & just wants to love on you constantly. He has SO MUCH potential & can go in any direction! Mickey is most definitely one of the BEST and most fun dogs I’ve ever, or will ever, train! He gets constant compliments every time we’re in public, and the comment that he receives the most is, “wow, that is the happiest dog I’ve ever seen!” 🥰 He is a very high energy dog, so he MUST go to an active home. Healthy & UTD on vaccinations.

🔹Board & Train🔹 openings starting August 1st! Service dog training, facility dog training, puppy basics and pet dog training, boundaries and structure, all levels of obedience, behavioral rehab, socialization, tricks/performance training, and more! Your dog(s) would come stay at one of our facilities for a minimum of 2 weeks - dogs take time to settle in and trust their new surroundings and trainer, therefore 2 weeks allows for that and still a good amount of time to work on what they’re here for. Of course we offer longer stays if that’s what you want/need! While your dog is with us, along with two training sessions daily, they will receive top notch care. This includes: daily exercise, daily enrichment and mental stimulation, daily playtime, individualized attention, grooming upkeep, safe interaction with safe dogs, their own kennel where they will sleep and have decompression time throughout the day, public training if they are a service dog, a facility dog, or working on socialization, any supplements and/or medication given at feeding time, chew time (with chews you approve of or want to bring for them), water always available both inside and outside (unless your dog over drinks, then we monitor their intake), and a big fenced in yard as well as a lot more acreage. What do we do in the evenings at Paws Up once September hits? Place work in the cozy living room with Harry Potter ambiance and Halloween cookies (once I give them the okay to eat them)!! We start celebrating the best holiday ever early around here! 😄🎃👻🖤

Happy 2nd Birthday (June 7th) to Paws Up’s Mr. Freddie Mercury!!! 🥳🐩🖤 Freddie had a great birthday filled with playing with his doggo friends, going on a walk, eating a bully stick, lots of love, and most important, a present from his mom/handler !! A new crinkle bunny toy that he’s obsessed with, along with the birthday shirt he’s wearing - it says “have a llama-zing birthday!” And that he did! 🦙😄 Freddie is a very special boy who absolutely loves his job, and he gets better at it every day. It’s been an honor training him into the poodle man he is today, and although it will be hard to part with him, I am beyond excited for him to start his life with and all of the amazing adventures they will have together! Hopefully (I say hopefully because things can change with dogs as they are living creatures and not robots) he will graduate service dog training this fall/winter! We love you so much Fredster 🥰

This little man, now known as Juniper, is doing SO well!! He is so smart and learns so quick. He’s learning the basics right now, but has been trying to do the tricks “say hi” and “sit pretty” from watching the other dogs! At this age (10 weeks) we are really focusing on socialization and desensitization - two extremely vital things for service dogs in training. He’s been taking everything in with so much bravery and confidence 👏🏻👊🏻 This pup has such a bright future ahead of him and I can’t wait to see him grow and progress into the incredible service dog who will bring so much independence to his future partner (he’s already matched with someone)!!!! 🤍

Sweet Lumos doing a natural migraine alert at the shepherd breeders house, with brand new dogs in kennels all around, and her focus was right on me 🥰 She alerts me by smelling the change when a migraine is coming on, and let’s me know so I can take safety measures! She was very persistent and alerted at least 5 times! This is something she will do for her future handler, so it’s fantastic that she’s already catching it naturally! This pup LOVES her job 💖

This beautiful, sweet boy will arrive tomorrow, all the way from California!! This is Gavin (soon to be renamed) and he is the newest Paws Up Service Dog in training! He came from a wonderful breeder, who also happens to be one of my great friends! He will be living with me/at Paws Up headquarters for about two years to complete his training, and then will be placed with his person 🤍 Very excited to start training this amazing little man, he’s going to do big things!

Shoutout to my amazing training assistant, Sarah Glick, for traveling to Cali to bring him home - I’m beyond grateful to her! 💕
