UPDATE: Thank you so much everyone for sharing! It truly made a difference. We are down to just 2 kittens. Orchid and Spruce, our two little black kitties. (A note about black kitties, they have shown to be very dog like; following you around, fetching a ball, curling up to sleep in your lap.) If you know anyone who would love to have a kitten, send them our way. We would love to find these last two a home before the weekend!

Help! We are being taken over by a Kittens. The longer they are here, the more there seem to be. Help us find homes before they turn into Tribbles. (The Trouble with Tribbles, Star Trek: The Original Series: Season 2, Episode 15).

We've got girls, we've got boys, we've got greys, blacks, oranges & calico's. Pretty much something for everyone. They range in age from about 12 to 14 weeks. They have all tested negative for Felv/FIV, had their first round of vaccines, been dewormed, had their first dose of Nexgard Combo, and had their first kitten exam. They are swinging from the rafters with excitement waiting for you to come take one (or two) home with you. And the best part, there is no adoption fee!

Have we mentioned we have kittens? It is definitely kitten season at Roanoke Animal Hospital. All of our kittens are free for adoption. They have all had their first exam, been tested for FeLV/FIV and found negative, had their first vaccines and their first dose of NexGard Combo for cats. They range in age between 2 to 3 months old. They are super socialized and ready to make their furever home with you.

The first three up for adoption are Aspen, Ash and Cedar. They are fun loving and start purring as soon as you pick them up. Stop by during business hours and meet them in person. You won't be sorry.

With summer festivities kicking off, we want to remind you about the symptoms of heatstroke and prevention tips:

-Never leave your pet unattended in a car
-When hot/humid, keep your pet’s time outdoors limited
-Keep your pet hydrated
-Ensure your pet has ventilation and a cool environment
-Dogs with short noses are at higher risk due to their condensed facial anatomy and restricted ability to cool themselves
-If any signs of heat stroke appear, contact our team immediately.

Is your pet scooting or licking their rear? It could be their a**l glands.

A**l glands are located on the rear of dogs and cats. The glands produce an oily, fishy-smelling fluid that helps with scent marking. Sometimes these glands can get impacted or infected.

Soft, consistent stool, as well as allergies, are common causes of irritation. If your pet is scooting, licking excessively, or showing signs of discomfort around their rear end, contact us! We will help to identify the cause and determine the best course of treatment.
