Heather joined the Big Lick Vet team in 2022 but has over 25 years of years of experience working in veterinary medicine, most of them as a Licensed Veterinary Technician. Heather is such a valuable member of our team. She cares deeply about the people she works with, which made her a great fit for Team Lead. She mentors many of our newer and younger team members, plans fun staff events, ensures we maintain a good flow throughout the day, and jumps in wherever help is needed - from surgery to exam rooms to the lab to treatment. She's also an incredibly skilled LVT who takes wonderful care of her patients - she does far too many things to list here! We are so lucky to have her on our team so thank you for all you do, Heather!

If your pet was microchipped at Big Lick Vet, you need not worry! We use HomeAgain microchips that are also temperature-scanning and include registration.

But if your pet was microchipped with a chip from a company called Save This Life, this article has important information on how to check your pet’s registration status and how to re-register that chip number with another company.

And as always, if you have any concerns about your pet’s microchip or wish to have your pet microchipped, call us at 540-776-0700 and we’ll be happy to help!

Join us in wishing Receptionist and Vet Assistant Paige a very Happy Birthday today! 🥳

Paige joined the Big Lick Vet family in 2022 as a receptionist and in 2024 she began training as a Vet Assistant as well. She now works in a hybrid Vet Assistant/Receptionist role which has allowed her to better serve our clients and patients needs. Paige knows just how to make everyone who walks through our doors feel welcome and cared for. She cares deeply, is extremely dedeicated, and is an incredibly hard worker. She's shown such an eagerness to learn more and develop her skills further. We're excited for her to continue to learn and grow in this new role! We're so lucky to have her on our team. 😀

What a difference 3.5 weeks can make! 😲 We have a feeling this is the last time Dr. Soffin will be able to pick Lucy up! 😆 She went from 18.5lbs to 32lbs and is just over 13 weeks old. 🐶❤️🐾

FOUND DOG - Bent Mountain (Cobble Lane area)

One of our clients recently caught this female dog after seeing her running in the area for about a week. She did not have a leash or collar and is not microchipped.
