Screening bloodwork is helpful in early detection of diseases such as those involving the liver and kidneys. Just like humans, we recommend doing this annually. It also gives us a baseline to compare if your pet ever becomes sick. Ask us about wellness bloodwork at your pets next annual exam!

🌿June's Pet of the Month is America. Here is what the RCACP has to say about this pretty girl:

"Meet America! This sweet girl is a short and squatty, 40 lbs. She is just over 3 years old and has been with us since March. Sadly, America had bounced around a few homes before landing here at the shelter. We know that America does great with other dogs, even those that are smaller than her and she is a very submissive player. We have also learned that she is quite the escape artist, both in her previous homes and even here at the shelter. Because of this, we recommend a home with a fence and potentially no young children (to minimize the risk of doors/gates being left open). America is declining in the kennel environment and has become extremely stressed, so it is urgent that we find her a home soon. She is already spayed, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, and HW negative. Her adoption fee is waived!"

Intestinal parasites can cause diarrhea, vomiting, weight loss, and more! Not to mention they can be passed to humans! Screening your pet (dogs AND cats) for intestinal parasites is recommended at least annually so be sure to bring a fresh sample with you to your pet’s next wellness appointment!

May Pet of the Month: "Meet Mister Meowgie! The Zen master, who isn’t afraid to karate chop someone when he needs to. Just kidding!! Mister Meowgie has been with us for quite some time now. He is a sweet boy but can get overstimulated when he’s gotten too much attention. For this reason, we do not suggest he go to a home with young children or first-time cat owner. He spent some time in foster care, where he enjoyed snuggling up on his foster mom’s lap and playing with his toys. He is currently living his best life in our free-roam cat room but would love to find his forever home before we make him bunk up with some crazy kittens!
