With the weather warming up, our car windows are going down and there's nothing dogs love more than sticking their head out the window and feeling the wind through their fur, but there are things we can do to make sure their ride is a safe one. Pets should always be safely buckled into their seat, just like we are and should never ride in the bed of a pick up truck or on your lap. It is also important to protect their eyes from flying debris, sand, and insects with Doggles or RexSpecs.
We hope you all (furry friends included) enjoy this wonderful weather! β€πŸΎβ˜€οΈ

Non-healing corneal ulcers, or Indolent Ulcers, are superficial abrasions on the surface of the eye that fail to heal after 7-10 days. Indolent ulcers are due to an abnormality of the corneal epithelium of the eye. This abnormal epithelium cannot stick to the surface of the eye following a minor injury. The epithelium simply peels off like sunburned skin. If left untreated, superficial ulcers can become infected or progress to corneal rupture, risking vision loss. Most indolent ulcers require a minor procedure be performed to promote healing called a diamond burr polishing. Pets will then placed on topical therapies 3-4 times daily, and will wear an Elizabethan collar until the ulcer has healed. Eight out of ten dogs will heal within 7-10 days.
