I always get a little nervous when my girls go over due on their litters, it makes me worried they didn’t take, they lost the babies, etc. But honestly it’s hard not to see Nila is preggers, because she is such a tiny one. She had a little rolling from the babes (I believe) so that’s a good sign.
She’s due at any moment now so keeping a fingers crossed all goes well and we have a viable or two! Seeing as this is my last litter for the foreseeable future, I can’t wait for some chinchilla kits!

🌸 Primrose 🌸

(coat: broken chestnut)
If you’ve ever owned a Netherland Dwarf, you have experienced the attitude they are known for. And Miss Princess Primrose is not an exception. I would even argue that she has the biggest attitude of any rabbit I have ever owned.
Primrose has given me some of my favorite and prettiest buns, with a variety of coat colors, ranging from beautiful broken coats of chestnut, black, and otter to solid coats of the same varieties. She holds a very special place in my heart for being my first breeding rabbit and mama.
She loves raising her babies (although she is over them by week six) and has raised some of the spunkiest (but oh so sweet) rabbits I’ve ever known. And although Prim (she is not proper whatsoever) is getting on in years (oh the horrors of being almost four years old) she hasn’t lost her pep in attitude or raising her kits.

Hey ya’ll!
It’s been a while, I have so many updates on the future of Dogwood Blossoms’ Rabbitry.
I’ve made the difficult decision to wind down our breeding program. I’ll be keeping a few rabbits for breeding and have maybe a litter or two each season. This is a hard decision that has been a long time coming I think, as I don’t have the time to keep breeding at the scale I used to. I still love raising and breeding beautiful Netherland Dwarfs, and plan on leisurely having a few litters every once and while.

The listed rabbits will be looking for homes:
- Dogwood Blossoms’ Alex, chestnut sr. buck, fully pedigreed, out of blue otter x chinchilla
- Dogwood Blossoms’ Black Widow, black jr. doe, fully pedigreed, out of broken chestnut x chestnut
- Dogwood Blossoms’ Hawkeye, broken chestnut buck, fully pedigreed, out of broken chestnut x broken chestnut
- Dogwood Blossoms’ Yosemite, black silver marten sr. doe, fully pedigreed, out of black silver marten x chinchilla
- Fluffy Misfits’ Linden, black silver marten sr., fully pedigreed, out of blue otter x black
- Indigo, black sr. black doe, fully pedigreed, retired dam

For the time being, I will be keeping Dogwood Blossoms’ Nila, Dogwood Blossoms’ Liberty, Miller’s MR10 “Rosemary”, Country Stars’ LO1 “Forrest”, KMS Stud Muffin, and Karr Valley’s 3H “Primrose”.

I still have three senior does I’m trying to move along. I’ve posted them several times so pictures of them are available on my page. I’m not asking much for them, just a small fee. I really need to free up cage space!

These three gals are looking for some new zip codes!
Black silver marten’s (Yosemite and Linden) are mother and daughter, ages 3 and 1. Both are pedigreed. I would be willing to discuss a deal if someone takes both!
Indigo’s four and would make a great quiet pet!

UPDATE 1/9/24: So glad I caught this, it was only a mild case and Indi is all recovered and doing great!
Christmas Eve night, when I was doing my nightly check on the rabbits; I noticed that Indigo (more commonly referred to as Indi) hadn’t hopped out of my way when I opened her cage. Indi is a VERY shy rabbits, always has been, so this was somewhat odd looking back. She was haunched next the door to her cage and when I pet her, she snapped out of her trance like state and stumbled a few feet and fell, before quickly righting herself and hiding in a corner. When a rabbit startles the way she did, as a rabbit owner you immediately know something isn’t right.
Her food bowl was completely full (which isn’t always uncommon, she doesn’t eat a ton of pellets) but she hadn’t even touched her hay. She was skinny enough to feel her spine and was definitely underweight. I pulled her out for a checkup and found that her privates had a small “clog”, I wet a rag with warm water and gently removed it. After that a large amount of f***l matter followed.
Immediately, I knew that she had a GI tract issue. I have never had a rabbit with GI stasis before in my short 5 years of owning rabbits, so this was a first time experience for me.
After helping her pass as much as possible by gently massaging her privates area, she started to drink water.
I made homemade Critical Care out of her pellets, warm water, and a little bit of banana. After about twenty minutes she started eating that, as well as nibbling on hay. Indi ended up spending the night next to my bed in a cardboard box with her foods and water.
Upon waking on Christmas Day after a very restless night of constantly checking on her, Indi was more alert and had some of her personality back, AS WELL as pooping, which was great.
She’s been treated for goopy eyes, it seems the stasis made her immune system weaken and allow for eye infections.
Now, 24 hours after discovering her GI stasis and starting treatment, Indi is very alert, moving like normal, has her timid personality back, is eating solid foods again, and is starting to ge
