We hope that everyone has a safe & happy holidays!!!! With that being said, our hours will be different around the holiday time.

Tuesday, December 24th we will close at 12:00pm.

Tuesday, December 31st we will close at 5:00pm.

We are CLOSED on Christmas Day & New Year’s Day.

Suburban Animal Hospital is happy to announce that we have not only one, but two doctors that are availalbe to see exotic pets. These include small mamals, pocket pets and reptiles (no birds at this time). Give us a call to schedule an appointment.

Please allow us to introduce another new, friendly face to Suburban Animal Hospital:

New to the Rochester area, Dr. Matthew Howard comes to us from just outside Toronto, Canada. He obtained his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the Ontario Veterinary College at the University of Guelph. His interests lie in exotic animal medicine and he has gained experience at several zoos, wildlife rehabilitation centers, and exotics-focused practices. In addition to cats and dogs, he currently sees small mammals/pocket pets and reptiles as patients at Suburban. When Dr. Howard is not working, he spends his free time swimming, in the great outdoors or watching movies with his wife.

Over the last 6 months, Suburban has welcomed some new team members. Please let us introduce you to one of our new additions to the team:

Dr. McArdle (Dr. Dena as we like to call her) grew up in South Dakota and studied at the University of Edinburgh to obtain her degree in Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery. Not only is she a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and Christian Veterinary Medicine, she is Fear Free and Cat Friendly certified. To add to this list, she performs dog & cat acupuncture and is well trained in ultrasound. If she's not busy studying due to her love of continuing education, she is visiting new book stores, exploring with her dog Kiko or spending time with her cat Emiko.

With Halloween a few days away, the Suburban Animal Team would like to give a few ideas regarding pumpkins. Pumpkins are a great source of fiber. Pumpkins can be used as compost OR as a treat for wildlife. For feeding wildlife: cut the pumpkin into pieces and scatter outside for the local critters ( deer, rabbits, foxes, squirrels). Seeds can be planted or used in a bird feeder.

For painted pumpkins, please scrub the paint off as paint can be toxic to animals!
