TW: loss of a friend 💔
Today we had to let Walker go. His time came and we were able to let him go peacefully. His buddy Cruiser was there and Cheryl made it too. I’m sorry there wasn’t more time old boy but we are all so happy to have known you. Even though his time here was short, it allowed his lifelong friend, Cruiser, to bond with Chloe. This allows him to be ok now even though he lost his friend.
Walker, may the grass always be green, the sun always shining and the sand soft and warm. May the mare kicks be low and away. Rest easy sweet old man horse, we love you.

We still plan to have the open house tomorrow. Please go easy on our hurting hearts. Not as much was done as I hoped but we will be here and there will be so many treats and maybe a few tears ❤️🩹

Have you seen a pig walker?? Pretty sure I learned this from Out To Pasture Sanctuary years ago. Normally made from a cut cattle panel I think. Pfiggy is so small and agreeable, this worked! Hopefully soon he’ll just come when called like Jake!

Breakfast burritos for the win! Since arrival at the shelter, Hank hasn’t eaten well. Here he ate a little occasionally but not much and very little interest in. The shelter noted he DID eat a piece of pizza and they (as do I) suspect he was a people food eater. Yesterday while I ate a tofu breakfast burrito, he showed much interest in. He ate every bit I gave him. Today, after two refused bowls of food, I made a pb, egg, sardine burrito and I barely had time to record!

We still could use water volunteers! All three cow waters were filled yesterday afternoon and they needed refills already!
Water helpers: roughly an hour once or twice a week. We do ask for a commitment of at least three visits please. Kid friendly (with adults) some walking, lifting and cleaning but pretty easy! Every day except Thursday & Sunday currently available. Mostly bird and barn waters.
Weed pulling needed too if interested!

A few weeks ago we received a request to help two older horses. Their person had passed away and family members were unable to keep the farm. As much as they wanted to keep these boys, they knew they couldn’t. Please help us welcome Walker, a 31 yr old paint gelding and Cruiser, a 22 year old Shetland pony gelding. Keeping them together was very important to their people and we are so happy we could make room to make that happen. We set up a quarantine area were they will stay for now. Our equine vet has already met them and started vaccines. Thank you to their caregivers for covering that and wanting the very best for them. We look forward to having them come visit too. Thank you all for your support and helping us help them!

Soon they will move into the house and then hopefully to fosters! If you are serious about fostering or fostering to adopt, feel free to send me a message. Keep in mind, while all adorable, they had a tough start and will need calm, patient work to get them to be happy, more confident dogs. At this point they are uncomfortable with other dogs and we have no idea on cats. Young kids would be a no for for now.
