In the world of rescue, we often receive urgent requests to assist dogs in need, and Cherry Pie’s situation was particularly critical as she faced euthanasia at 2 PM. We managed to rescue her just ten minutes before that deadline.
Initially, we knew very little about her condition, which presented as a medical mystery with potential issues like an obstruction or spinal injury. After an overnight stay at an emergency vet, we transferred her to our regular veterinarian, where we discovered that her obstruction had resolved. However, she appeared fearful and unsteady, which we later recognized as signs of pain rather than anxiety.
Cherry Pie has since begun pain management and is responding well. She has enjoyed socializing with new dog friends and meeting people, and she is currently seeking a foster home that can provide her with a calm environment during her recovery.
