Petal and Mist have gone home, together, with a truly lovely family. I'm happy for them and sad for me.

Look at those eyes.

Lena (the bigger one, a seal mitted lynx traditional coat) should be bred. She has perfect health, temperament, intelligence, and plain old Ragdoll-ness. Truly the best female I have ever bred. And she has cuddled up to our less busy, equally purr-y girl Mist (the smaller one, a seal bicolor traditional coat), who likes to sit on people's laps when they are using their computers. She is a true cuddler. Both of them have stunning eyes.

The pity is that this is my last litter, so Lena won't be bred by me. I have a hard time letting her go, though.

Today is…
• National Feral Cat Day (help feed and spay/neuter feral felines)
• Global Cat Day
• National Dictionary Day
• World Hagfish Day (a fish only its mother could love)
• National Take Your Parents to Lunch Day
• National Fossil Day (a real one, not a watch or me according to my kids)

Lena gets the “Most Fun Kitty” award.

Well bred kittens are expensive. Poorly bred kittens are also expensive. Strays are perhaps the most expensive of all. Someone I'm close to adopted the daughter of a stray. There was an immediate vet bill of approximately $500 because of an infection, then 4 years later hip dysplasia, which caused a $3500 surgery to a knee that got a torn ligament due to the hip dysplasia. She is on pain meds and other medications. The hip dysplasia happened because of poor nutrition in utero.

So spending $2000 for a healthy, well bred Ragdoll ( for instance ) is a way of saving money.

These are the boys in our last litter ever. :-(

I really love this kitten. Why oh why can't I keep them all?
