Lucky has moved to their larger flight cage, and should be ready for release soon! Such a sweet little bird. I'll miss him/her begging for food all day long.

Welcome Lucky! This cutie was brought to me yesterday morning after being left outside an exotic bird store with a note saying that it was found on the side of the road. Thank you to Maddie for taking him in and caring for him until she could get him to me and to Barb for transporting him. He settled in nicely yesterday and greeted me out of his nest this morning! I think he is quite impressed with himself that he can walk around. ❤️

Merle and Petunia have arrived from Bruiser's Buddies Wildlife Rehabilitation. They will be staying with me for a few weeks until they are ready to be released in my yard. Merle is pretty brave, while Petunia is still a bit unsure. I'm sure they will settle in soon. Welcome, sweet girls!

Babies are free! This morning was release day for Andy and Sarah. Bittersweet, but I'm happy to see them enjoying their freedom. They hesitated for a few minutes, but then they flew out unexpectedly and sat on the fence for a little bit. Right after that, they took off to the trees and started talking to each other.

When I first got them, the rehabilitator that walked me through their care told me to come up with my own whistle and use it every time I fed them so they would recognize me and I could call them for feeding after release. Well... I can't whistle. 🤣 So instead I just yelled "BABIES" every time I fed them. So I just went outside and yelled babies and they instantly started talking to me. ❤️❤️❤️ Hopefully after a few hours exploring, they will come back to eat. If not, they have their own little corner with multiple food options. Have a beautiful life sweet babies!

These two ❤️ They are growing up so quickly. Thank you Mockingbird family for caring and saving these cuties. I wasnt really planning to rehabilitate sparrows, but here we are. 🤣

Took in a hit by a car sparrow yesterday. It's in rough shape, but I'm networking with an incredible bird rehabber to see if there's anything that can be done.🤞

These two sparrows have come so far. Today they move into their new flight cage, and I'm excited to see them get one step closer to release. I have to say I've become pretty fond of them. ❤️

I wanted to thank Katie Worley for all her wildlife help. She has helped me pretty much from the start - shopping for and loaning me needed supplies, helping me build and set up enclosures, giving me creative ideas for tackling issues that arise, and supporting my passion in so many ways. She will hopefully be taking the next available test and will become licensed herself soon. Thank you Katie and I look forward to having another amazing rehabilitator in our network!

Two new sparrows arrived today - name suggestions welcome! My firsts are always special, and these are my first sparrows. They were rescued at Mockingbird Farm Sanctuary by our compassionate volunteers. I drove them to a bird rehabilitator, but found out they were sparrows which I'm allowed to rehab. She patiently walked me through their care and needs and sent me home with some supplies to get me started. They will need to eat every 1.5 to 2 hours during the day, so they will be by my side for the next 10 days or so. ❤️ Thank you, Beth, for all of your help and expertise today!

Soft released 6 mice this week and was surprised to find that they actually returned for food. Hope they are doing ok out in the wild. They felt so little even though they were plenty old enough to be on their own. It's always hard seeing them take off.
