Buster, a handsome bull terrier in a green sweater.
Piper, a girl with a boopable nose, commissioned by a friend as a gift to her friend who had to say goodbye to Piper.
And a rottie named Bruce who I painted as a gift to my coach.

When I painted this 9 years ago, Patrick was our foster dog through Camp Companion after Safe Humane Chicago sent him to us. He was adopted, renamed Dozer, and lived out his years as a much loved family member.
Just like foster dogs, I wish I could keep every painting I do, but alas, I must part with this one, too.

These are from last year. A friend commissioned a portrait of his dog, Timber. Never have I done this, but I painted TWO. I wasn't happy with the first one. It's the grass. I despise painting grass or even the suggestion of it. The grass made me start over with something else. Turns out he liked both of them!

This was commissioned as a gift last Christmas. It is easily one of my favorite paintings. I feel bad even saying that, but for some reason, it just flowed out of me. I had doubts the whole time, but it kept working out. The receiver of this gift loved it and that makes me so happy!

Black dogs are really tough for me to paint. I don't want them to look boring, but they really are mostly black and that comes across flat. I feel so much pressure to make each portrait a special one that the challenging ones really test me. Zin was my friend Katie's dog and he was definitely not boring.
