My name, Coraline, means "heart," and according to many people, if you're lucky, a cat will come into your life, steal your heart, and change everything - for the better. I'm a 1 ½-year-old tortoiseshell girl who came to Paws and Claws from another rescue. I had been brought there after being found as a stray. I have been reserved and rather bashful in my early days here, but I like having people pet me. Once I settle in more, I may decide to venture out and check out the toys. I know you wouldn't be looking at this website or visiting the shelter if you didn't want a kitty! Torties are beautiful cats with affectionate, sometimes spirited personalities. I'd love to give my heart to a special someone someday soon when I go home to be your Coraline.

Now here is an interesting fella. Hello? Anybody out there? I'm Alf. No, not ALF! I'm not an alien, and I don't eat cats; I am a cat! I'm a handsome, medium-haired brown tabby, neutered male who was found in SE Rochester. I am an outgoing, friendly boy who likes to play. I purr-fur to be out of my kennel where I can roam, explore, visit, and receive pets and attention. As that Alien Life Form fella said, "I make things happen. I'm a catalyst." Maybe I can be a cat-alyst in your life, too, when I go home to be your charming Alf.

Here is our big Al, again. Al is a sweet boy who has had a pretty tough past and has the scars to prove it. (Take a look at his right ear.) He is being spoiled by our staff and volunteers. He is genuinely affectionate. Al appears house trained and keeps his kennel clean. He is a good listener but could brush up a bit on his leash skills. Formal training is a great way to bond with a dog no matter the age. If you are looking to add a loyal friend to your life, take a look at Big Al.

These dogs are at Rochester Animal Control Shelter MN hoping for a second chance. We have had them all spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. They all have reduced fees. The majority of them were found “lost” and never claimed and a few were deliberately abandoned. Let down by people who were supposed to be there for them. They are good dogs.

You know how some people prefer dogs over other people? Well, Joe and Tina prefer humans over other dogs, so keep that in mind.

Apply and we can set up a time to meet them.

Look at this beauty!

I am Chatri. In Thai, my name means "brave knight." In other cultures, it means "umbrella," which also offers protection. I am a very handsome, 2 1/2-year-old Siamese mix boy who came to Paws and Claws when my person lost the house she was renting and no longer had a place where she could keep me. The change has been hard! I have done well around children in the past, and I liked to sleep with my person. I am doing my best to adjust here. Cats are creature of habit and it will take me time to adjust to your home, too. Once I do, I can be very sweet. I bet if you just give me a little bit of time and patience, we could be good friends!
Yours ~ Chatri

Meet Gracie! This sweet lady came to us from a valued rescue partner when they realized she needed a change of scenery. Gracie is deaf and because of that, can get startled easily. However, once she knows and trusts you, she becomes a sweetheart of a girl.

Gracie enjoys going on walks with volunteers, and she has pretty good leash manners. In her kennel, Gracie likes to settle into her blankets. She has not been dog or cat tested at this time. Due to Gracie being deaf, we would recommend a home without small children.

If you have experience with a deaf dog or if Gracie seems like she could be a good fit for you, please apply for her today!

Happy Saturday ya'll. Today we feature two of our longer term felines.
The black one is Kenneth (age is 1 year/5 months) who has been in the shelter since 7/1/2023 and our orange boy is Dune (age 3 years/4 months) who has been here since 1/22/2024. While they are well taken care of here, there is nothing that beats a loving and safe home and that's what we are striving for for Kenneth and Dune. We are not requiring they be adopted together, we just would love to see them adopted. All animals come with quirks and both of these boys can be somewhat shy which is not unusal in a shelter setting that has a lot going on. Can you open your heart and your home to one of these guys? What many people know and have experienced is that patience and love does wonders for cats like Kenneth and Dune. Best of all it is so rewarding to know YOU made the difference in their lives. Please share their story.
