Muninn! It's been slow and steady with this young man, and I'm really liking where he's headed. 🥹
Hexe! Small but mighty.. maybe not equipped with much of an out though. 😅
Vandal's celebrating his 6th birthday in style!
... and a perfect Vandal moment from today's OB. 😅☠️
Annnnd that's a wrap on the trial weekend! While we did not grab any legs of our PSA 1 this weekend I am so f**king proud of my dog and the work we've done these last few months.
Day 1: Passed OB! Those who know us know how much of a project that has been, he's not a very easy dog and we've been working pretty hard to revamp our approach to heeling and decoy neutrality.
Unfortunately when it came time for protection, Vandal decided that he'd rather not out during the carjacking. Honestly if we're going to fail in protection that's the way I'd want to go out.
Day 2: Shenanigans! I think we were both feeling the fatigue of the multi day trip and OB was a bit loose, crept out of boundary during the long down, and assaulted a teddy bear. But! He didn't bite the decoy so we'll take that win.
While it would have been amazing to have made it all the way through both phases, my main goal was to just do better than we have previously, and we accomplished that. It's been a bit of a rough year and I struggled a lot with burnout and questioning a lot of my "whys". This weekend helped to remind me.
Guess we'll be back at it again next season. 🙃
Clarity and enthusiasm in obedience with an emphasis on a happy partnership has been my focus with Vandal over this past off season. It's no secret that he hasn't always been the easiest dog to handle, but it's moments like this where I'm reminded that we've been moving in the right direction.
Working on a few new things with Muninn (Björn). Can't believe this young man is coming up on 10 months!
A little sped up video of Rosie hanging in place while some work is being done around the kitchen, it's super helpful to be able to peek at the phone screen while facing away washing dishes. 😉
The broom was a huge draw but she held it together nicely.
