About Trainer Richard Allen CPDT-KA (ICAN- Certified Canine Behaviorist ) Rich started working with dog many years ago, in the days when dominance theory prevailed and using fear, force, intimidation and painful punishment was the supposedly the only way it could be done. He worked in many different avenues from obedience to protection training, but for him it was always to stressful (for both the handler and the dog) to be waiting for the dog to make a “mistake” so the human could “correct” it. After years of using prong and shock collars, Rich wanted a better way to communicate with his furry family members so he began learning more modern and scientific ways to communicate with his canine companions, when he noticed he and his dogs enjoyed the time together much more, and he was very impressed with the speed at which the dogs learned and retained the teachings. Some of Rich’s education includes: Advanced K9 Detection Seminar- 2 day Seminar March 2008 Personal Protection k-9 Obedience and Protection 2 day Workshop April 2008 Working Dog- Bite Work -2 day Workshop February 2009 Handler and Tactical Seminar – 3 day Workshop June 2010 Kathy Sdao “Get SMART about Training” – 2 day seminar, Sept 2010 Suzanne Clothier “Relationship Assessment” and “Working with Fearful & Reactive Dogs” – 2 day seminar Nov 2010 Suzanne Clothier “Working with Fearful and Reactive Dogs” – 2 day seminar, Nov 2011 Malena Dimartini-Price and Gina Phairas “Fixing the Unfixable: Separation Anxiety” – 2 day seminar, April 2012 Pat Miller “Real Solutions to Canine Behavior Problems” – 2 day seminar, April 2012 Grisha Stewart “BAT: Behavior Adjustment Training for Fearful and Reactive Dogs” – 2 day seminar, July 2012 Kathy Sdao “I-Cue: The Science of Signals” – 2 day seminar, November 2012 Paula Kelman “Training Dogs, Training People” – February 2013 Diane Gardner “Understanding Canine Communication” – March 2013 Dr. Sophia Yin ” Learning, Behavior, and Dog Training” – August 2013 Paula Goss “Agility: Novice through Masters” – 2 day seminar, November 2013 Steve and Jennifer White “Raising the Bar – Taking Training to the Next Level” – April 2014 Dr. Ian Dunbar “New Concepts for the Treatment of Dog Aggression” – April 2014 Sue Sternberg "Understanding Canine to Canine Behavior" Seminar - September 2017 Victoria Stilwell Seminar “Inside Your Dogs Mind” March 2018 Michael Shikashio “Defensive Handling with Aggressive Dogs” June 2018
