Last week, we had the honor of partnering with Monroe County to host an unforgettable Mentoring Day for students with disabilities. These amazing students got a special behind-the-scenes tour, learned what it takes to become a zookeeper, and saw firsthand the passion and care that goes into looking after our animal residents. 🌿🦁
It was a privilege to connect with these future conservationists, and we can't wait to see them back at the zoo! 🧡 A huge thank you to everyone involved in making this day so special.

Her longevity is a testament to the exceptional care provided by our dedicated animal care team. We strive to give Pimento—and all of our animals—the highest quality of care.
Here's to celebrating many more birthdays with our queen, Pimento! 👑🎉 Stop by and say hello to this amazing baboon on your next visit to the zoo! 🐒🧡

Watch as our Zoo Keeper Catina gives these curious otters some icy treats filled with fish and scallops! Enrichment like this helps stimulate their natural hunting and foraging instincts, keeping them active and engaged. Enrichment comes in many different shapes and forms, all designed to encourage animals to display natural behaviors. It’s a vital part of their care, and our team works hard to keep it engaging and beneficial!

Meet Red Panda Cub Asha!
We have a new red panda cub! Meet Asha! Like our own cub Teddy Graham, Asha was abandoned by her mother and was being hand-raised at Binghamton Zoo. The AZA red panda SSP (species survival plan) recommended the transfer so that Teddy would have a cub to socialize with. This is common practice with single red panda cubs that are hand-raised. Asha is a slightly different species from Seneca Park Zoo’s red pandas. The new cub is Ailurus styani, whereas the Zoo’s current pandas are Ailurus fulgens. Styani red pandas are larger and darker in color.
You won’t see the two cubs on habitat. They will be kept in an area not visible to guests, but you’ll be able to view the cub cam in the animal hospital during normal Zoo hours. They will have an outdoor area at the Zoo when they start weaning but will not be introduced to the Zoo’s two red pandas Willie and Raji due to the upcoming breeding season, where males may have aggression towards unfamiliar cubs.
The cubs will move to other zoos when they are 8-10 months old, which is when they would start to separate from their mothers in their natural range.
Come visit and head to the animal hospital to view the cubs together! The Zoo is open daily from 10 a.m. (9:30 a.m. for members) – 5:00 p.m.
Join us at Seneca Park Zoo on October 4th for an evening where wine meets wildlife conservation. Our featured wineries are committed to sustainable practices that protect our planet, guided by the VineBalance workbook. This certification ensures wineries focus on reducing environmental impact, conserving natural resources, and supporting biodiversity—all while producing exceptional wines.
This isn’t just about enjoying a great glass of wine; it’s about making choices that make a difference. 🌱
